  1. https://archive.ph/ZV058 Canadians who say they were targeted by Beijing slam David Johnston: ‘Another day of being unheard’ Canadians who say they have been targeted by China expressed anger at Tuesday’s decision by former governor general David Johnston to reject a formal inquiry into foreign interference, saying that “toothless” public hearings will be unlikely to lead to action. Johnston rejected calls for a public inquiry saying it would be impeded by the need to keep classified intelligence a secret. “I have concluded it would not serve a useful purpose to enhance trust,” Johnston said, but said he would use his mandate to hold public hearings on how Ottawa can best respond to foreign interference activities in Canada.
  2. You should say it again - maybe the THIRD time will make you sound smart!
  3. That does not appear to be the case. CSIS found out a fair while after they'd collected a large amount of data apparently. I'ts more likely that they decided not to pull the trigger because he stopped pressing for a foreign agent registry on his own and they didn't have the need. The registry was apparently why they were targeting him in the first place. I'm sure it wasn't out of fear. With our laws as they are now they woudln't have really even been committing a crime if they'd done it right. One of the reasons we actually do need that registry.
  4. No, you just make that claim with no evidence to back it up. Typical leftie - demands their facts be accepted without proof but if anyone says anything they don't like they demand sources.
  5. For the win.
  6. LOL - i mean, what else could you say after that little performance
  7. well thank god you showed up to raise the bar there big guy.
  8. The word 'canada' does not appear in the sources you cite as 'proof' of the canadian number. And in fact - the source severely questions your 1500 mile number, specifically noting that the trend in local farmers markets is changing that. And in fact it doesn't even give the source or timeline for the 1500 mile figure. Nor does it say WHAT food. For example if they say a jar of bean paste travels 3000 miles and a fresh chicken travels 2 so we'll average it at 1500 that ignores the fact that a) bean paste has stayed stable while chicken has shot up in price and b) i eat a lot more chicken than bean paste. The numbers you provided are completely and utterly useless. And - even if they were accurate at roughly 2 percent difference in travel should not explain a 100 percent difference in price. Very dishonest of you YOu cannot make that statement with the information you provided.
  9. I would just point out that it's pretty much all of them and you'd post a meme in frustration and go sulk? Yeah,
  10. well i don't know about communism but ti would be a bad idea. Job one is to get money out of the economy.' "inflation is always and everywhere a monetary issue". Right or wrong we dumped hundreds of billions of dollars, much of it in unearned money, into the economy over the covid years. That is ALWAYS going to run up inflation a lot. And much of our inflation comes from that. We have to remove those dollars. Which is what higher interest was supposed to do but unfortuantely at the same time that the bank is sucking money out of the economy the liberals are dumping it right back in. So that has to stop. It's literally like stomping on the breaks and the gas at the same time. IN addition there needs to be some very targeted taxing. Get rid of or reduce the carbon tax - it's a very significant factor in many critical things like food and it's easy to forget its one of our few cumulative taxes not just an end user tax. Then, raise consumer taxes. Perhaps gst to 6 percent and let provinces raise theirs by 1 percent as well. This is an effective way to cool the economy without driving up interest rates and it reduces the deficit. Why are we even using interest rates at this point - they target things like housing and food. Such things are exempt from GST. And consumption taxes cause people to spend less on buying things, which means they put their money to debt reduction. Then we have to reduce immigration for a while to a level where it's not going to strain our systems and drive up housing costs for owners and renters. It would be great if the gov'ts also made a SERIOUS effort to increase housing construction at the same time. Those would be a START - it would go a long way in reducing inflation without driving our economy into the ground. But of course - trudeau doesn't think about monetary issues. Soooooo.
  11. nope. Not even close. The housjng market took a dip from it's all time high not so much due to higher interest rates but volatility. People didn't know if the rates would go higher still or not. Now that people feel the rates have stabilized they're jumping back in the market and prices have increased 4 months in a row, and will likely be back to that 2022 historic high point by the end of the year https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/crea-housing-data-1.6843592 Worse - for people who need a mortgage and don't have cash - the actual cost of ownership in monthly payments is ALREADY higher than it was in 2022's peak before interest rates took off. And with home buyers sitting on the sidelines it drove rent up so more investors will pay more money right now because rents will cover it. Lowering interest rates would not solve anything, we need to do the right things now to stave off a very serious financial meltdown.
  12. That is you to a tee.
  13. so your calling him a conservative troll because he didn't agree with you makes you a trumpian as well?
  14. It's the inevitable conclusion of socialism and communistic models as well. Check out russia - putin isn't poor and none of the soviet leaders including stalin ever missed a meal. Or china, or venezuela or cuba etc etc etc. The difference is - it's almost impossible to get rich under capitalism without making others around you rich. Gates, jobs, bezos, all of them made many many many millionares as they grew in wealth and those millionares spent money helping provide good jobs etc. Everyone gets a little richer. Where as with YOUR model the rich at the top only get rich by making everyone else poor. The more socalistic you get, the more people like you run the show, the poorer the population is. The people at the top skim the cream and there's nothing left. Thats why the richest countries in the world are capitalist and the poorest are always socialistic.
  15. Canada produces it's own food for the most part. Far more than britain does. Our costs would be cheaper. Actually our population densities are pretty high. We have more land but we don't live on it. And most of our agricultural centers are near our major living areas. Of course - we DO have carbon tax so that is going to bump up food costs a lot for the distances they do have to travel. Not in food. We'd still need as much space to grow the food so a lot of it would have to be shipped farther. It would actually make it more expensive. Having the farmland situated nearer the people is more efficient. Were you talking to your mirror?
  16. No, that would be transphobic. It would also be a bit of a lie wouldn't it the right doesn't think that. Yeah - still a bit of a lie. It sounds more like you're just making crap up but having a tough time remembering what you made up before so it SEEMS inconsistent. But what can be expected from someone who can't even get the definition of 'karen' right.
  17. I didn't realize you were part of that community. Actually - it explains a lot LOLOL
  18. Personally - I would NEVER do that to you. I"m quite positive you don't know anything. (oh come on! SOMEONE was going to take that shot )
  19. Don't know who that is - but i'm pretty happy you're here so we can make fun of you You're freaking hilarious! It's like someone gave a monkey a copy of the woke manifesto and a Red Bull and now they're posting on the internet LOLOL!
  20. Thank you. He just won the point It was pretty obvious he was right to begin with but it was fun watching you squirm
  21. LOL - really. Would you care to bet? So do you - but you gave one. I mean, it's wrong and you don't actually use the word like that but still.. Telling the truth IS what you consider lying to be And imagine that - you coudln't deny it you just tried to change the channel You've called him a nazi - and now you're attempting that other trick we've discussed many times where you claim that just because the person thinks and talks like a nazi in your opinion, that doesn't mean he IS a nazi per se. So he's a nazi by association Everyone who disagrees with you is a nazi in your world. Oh - so you're ADDING to your definition that they must ALSO believe in the global jewish conspiracy. But you've said YOU do, you bring up soros as an example and say that the jews cause all sorts of problems. Your definition couldn't even make it to the end of this thread. Yep. I'ts your little way of calling people nazis when you know you'll have trouble defending it, "Now -i"m not saying HE'S a nazi - i'm just saying how he thinks and how he acts and what he says and everything else about him is nazi. But - that doesn't mean i think HE'S a nazi" LOLOL It's one of your little dishonest games. But we're pretty used to your lies I know that it upsets you that nobody here takes you seriously. Did you want to post a meme? Should i get back here with those goalposts? What can i do to help
  22. ROFLMAO - ohhh i'm SO sorry.. did those nasty facts get in the way of your echo chamber ideology agani? How terrible What were you saying in that other thread about people who just resort to insults out of the blue making the board worse? LOL!! What a pathetic troll. umm.... yeah. So you're actually responding to it. So i'm not sure you know what 'ignore' means. After you insulted me first in that thread? I responded in complete good faith and you were a complete dick.Maybe apologize for your own bad behavior before you demand apologies from oithers. Its pretty retarded to think it works the other way. You're a typical leftie loser - you insult others, you behave badly, YOU provoke a fight, and then when the other person punches back you cry and whine about how mean they are. And now you're 'professionally offended' and hide behind a fight YOU picked. Gee i can't imagine where your kid gets it from. You want people to treat you in a civil manner? Treat people in a civil manner. You didn't and now they don't. Deal with it.
  23. ROFLOMAO!!!!! - Wow - i managed to break her before 7:30 am THat's a new personal best Sorry you're emotionally damaged so early today sweetie - maybe go back to bed for an hour and try again?
  24. And as we saw - you couldn't. His point was that the definition is not precise. And he's right. As we can see you're a liar. There was nothing consistant about those definitions. They were both very different, and different than yours. So no - there wasn't a consistent definition. Was your point that you were wrong? Happy to help. A dozen people here including me already provided you with very solid definitions of woke. You just like to lie and pretend otherwise. But definitions of woke will vary slightly. Just like your definition of 'karen' differed radically from other more established ones. Your whole point is a joke. And you're having to lie your ass off to make it - what have i told you about if you have to lie to make your point?
  25. https://www.thestar.com/business/2023/05/23/canadian-debt-warning-signs-our-households-have-the-worst-debt-ratio-of-any-g7-country.html Canadian households now have the worst debt ratio of any G7 country Report from CMHC blames ballooning debt-to-GDP ratio on unaffordable housing and the rise in interest rates that is hammering already stretched homeowners. At the end of 2021 Canada’s household debt-to-GDP ratio was at 107 per cent, according to the report. Over the same period of time, household debt dropped in the U.S., U.K. and Germany and was nearly unchanged in Italy. This is going to be a problem. It would not take much of an economic crisis to lead to a domino effect on our economy that would be really bad. And this at a time when our national and provincial debts are at all time highs and the fed debt is insane. Which limits the gov'ts options to borrow during a crisis.
