And let's assume the economy starts actually heating up as you postulate. As I'm sure you're aware a thriving economy also puts upward pressure on inflation. If the fed were to lower its rates that would also put a great deal of upward pressure on inflation. We're talking big time, interest rates are one of the primary methods of controlling inflation. So the point is lowering the fed rate now could very easily be like striking a match to the powder keg of inflation that the country is already sitting on. That's why they're reluctant to do so
