  1. why would population size have an effect of the number of enumerated rights? Wouldn’t it mostly depend on how they’re grouped? The larger our population gets in Canada, the more we will add to our Charter of Rights?
  2. Most Catholics in USA are in favour of abortion rights. https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2020/10/20/8-key-findings-about-catholics-and-abortion/
  3. As I said, the NP wrote the article to generate some outrage. We have no idea what the real story is. So, unlike someone being shot for no apparent reason, I just can’t even muster an ounce of giving a damn.
  4. It’s only misleading or deceptive to someone who doesn’t understand what a right is in Canada, and how they’re determined on a legal basis. No one says you can’t own a gun, within the law. Everyone knows theres not a legal right to own a gun. Why is this so difficult?
  5. No, it is not. It was written, based on historical research, to be written in Greek. You don’t know, so maybe just listen to the actual scholars? You keep asserting this, but it is not true. Provide a citation.
  6. No one argued otherwise! LOL
  7. The government can also take it away. Look at the handgun manufacturing ban. No more handguns made, or imported, into Canada. Where is the “right” now?
  8. That doesn’t make it a legal right. Then stop claiming that it’s a right, when it’s not. “Moot” point. However, it’s not a moot point. The only thing that matters in law is what the Charter says, legislation says, and the courts say.
  9. I read your post. You’re wrong. The law, as it stands currently, is that there is no right to own a gun. This comes from the Supreme Court. If the SC says there is no right, then that is the law of the land. If you need the citation to the decision again, let me know.
  10. Yes, they were written anonymously. That doesn’t mean we can’t tell what language they were written in. I can get a letter from an anonymous source and tell that the letter is written in English.
  11. We were discussing the NT. But, the bible was originally Hebrew, for the most part. Some parts were Aramaic. Coptic was not one of the languages.
  12. Except, where it really matters in Canadian courts, there is no right to own guns. Call it whatever you wish, if you tried to argue that you have a legal right to own a gun, you’d lose.
  13. LOL That is just all sorts of wrong! No, the New Testament certainly wasn’t written originally in Coptic. The NT was originally written in Greek, but not by people from Greece. It did get translated into Coptic. Wiki has references for you. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Language_of_the_New_Testament
  14. When you say “the man is disarmed by logic…” , I take it you’re talking about me? I was disarmed? I honestly thought we were discussing laws against speech. If you want to chalk up a win when the topic turns to cancel culture, ok. You win. I don’t really have much to say about media generated outrage over someone being fired.
  15. People are fired for what they say all the time. I don’t really care, to be honest. If it’s unfair, there are unions or labour laws that can deal with it. It’s wholly uninteresting and mundane. And media will often only cover one side, or not tell the entire story. The readers are left with the impression that, in this case the NP, wants you to have. “That’s terrible to be fired for what he said”. Meanwhile, the guy was probably an awful teacher, which isn’t mentioned of course. I just can’t generate any outrage.
  16. The discussion was about laws. I kept asking when anyone was arrested for what they said. But, just quote what I asked in the previous post you’re referring to, if you’re so convinced.
  17. The SC said Canadians do not have a constitutional right to bear arms. Full stop. I cited the case in my post above where they said that. Where did the SC say that Canadians do have a right to guns? Please cite.
  18. I remember the conversation. It was about people being charged with crimes for what they said, right? You moved the goalposts again.
  19. No. The law is clear. “The Ontario Court of Appeal upheld the lower court’s ruling that there is no constitutional right to bear arms in Canada.[4] Montague tried to appeal the case one more time, to the Supreme Court of Canada. On September 16, 2010, the Court announced that it would not hear the appeal. As a result, the ruling that there is no Canadian right to bear arms is settled constitutional law for the foreseeable future. The Supreme Court said in 1993 that “Canadians, unlike Americans do not have a constitutional right to bear arms.”[5] Montague will not have a chance to change the Court’s mind.” https://www.constitutionalstudies.ca/2010/10/ontario-court-confirms-no-right-to-bear-arms-in-canada-supreme-court-will-not-hear-appeal/?print=print
  20. I apologize…. Fined for swearing. You are for free speech as long as it doesn’t offend you or the Jesus. Got it. What should happen to them when they haven’t paid their 67 swearing fines?
  21. Well, it was written in Palestine, even if it was in pieces and even if it was later compiled elsewhere. It was written anywhere from 70CE to 120CE depending on which book. To think the writings came from far and wide isn’t the case, as far as I know. The writings seem to originate in Palestine over that time, but I stand to be corrected; I’m no expert.
  22. The New Testament was written in Palestine, which was ruled at the time by the Romans. But to say Romans wrote it is a bit of a misnomer. That would be like claiming the English wrote something that was written in India during English rule.
  23. What law? Who has been charged with a crime for denying holocaust numbers?
  24. That doesn’t sound very democratic.
