Are Nfld and Quebec Sustainable?
herbie replied to August1991's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Unfortunately I think the country should have the determination like the USA to crush them. Like revoke their provincial status, dissolve their legislature and revert to territorial status. That should make Alberta separatists happy they'd have no provincial income tax, way more money in their greedy hands and no need to worry their tortured wee minds about politics ever again. Like I said, no language, culture or religion to distinguish themselves. BTW I've come to believe that those may be the usual but are actually the worst reasons to found a country. Look at Iran, Afghanistan, Israel as examples. -

To keep up the half-assed efforts of GM and Ford forever. Unghh unghh no one's buying $150K Hummers, that proves nobody likes EVs. Shut the lines down and try again in 5 years... I forgot to mention Stillatit.... whoops! I meant Stellantis -

OMG 50 years later complaining about the little fighting that's left in the game? it isn't Tiger Williams and Dave The Hammer Schulz and physically pounding the Russians so bad they ran away anymore. Haven't heard the term "Chicken Swedes" since long before the Sedin's were Canuck heroes, either. You aren't gonna stop tempers flaring in a game like hockey ever, but things are A LOT tamer now.

Thread's been up for six months now without anyone commenting on the derogatory, racist title of it. That says something about this forum. And spare us the claims that it's not.

Drew instant responses from every ignorant Russian troll on the board, good work. Our resident so-called 'defenders of democracy' don't want it ended just in the USA, they want it ended everywhere! -
Forcing Women to Register for Draft

Are you ignorant that it's 2024 and expecting women to be exempted is as abhorrent as segregated units used to be? You provided a source that imagined the scenario, one who also thinks like it's 1953. You fell for the BS, not me. And even posted it with an inflammatory headline as if it was news. -
Are Nfld and Quebec Sustainable?

So Quebec has a distinct language, history, relion and culture but Alberta has a better case? A province created by Ottawa with language and culture indistinguishable from the provinces on either side? No, their separatists are solely fixated on 'why should we share', 'we could have more money if'? A few of the wealthiest province there is, who continued to gripe even if half their MPs were in a Conservative govt cabinet? Such lofty ideals to found a country on, not! If they managed to they could have a snake on their flag and a motto of "For a few dollars more". -

How the hell would you take that as a desire for Alberta to leave? Or are you one of those whiney Alberta separatists issuing a dare? -

He is free to staunchly oppose entirely imaginary allegations. Like exemptions for Democrats on the Alien Lizard Overlord's food menu. -

So a hunter near Summerland got attacked by a bear so he shot it. When he went to check it, it got up and attacked him again. He wasn't hurt bad, the bear was located later, dead. Better odds of being stabbed in the city or shot by gang bangers riding in the back of Mom's car..... (fingers crossed) no bears in the yard so far this year. MOF planning to fix the spots they broke the fenceposts over the last few summers. -
Blah blah blah, if you got to vote on the shop closing a week early so shareholders wouldn't have to owe you part of your pension you'd sing a different song. Just one more consequence of the stupid move to hold elections every 4 years on a certain day. Sorry but if I were an MP I would uphold the interests of working people, but screwing myself to appear some sort of martyr isn't one of them. Heard this whining nonstop about MPs pay from people too dumb to understand that job is more valuable than yours at Wendys. And repeat so brain dead and petty they begrudge a pension and believe only billionaires can represent their interests.
