I used to live 4 miles from the truck crossing, went down there all the time to crab fish off the dock, shop, hit the restaurants. The dollar was 69¢ at the time. Had propane vehicles, that cost more there at the time if you could even find auto propane. Friends would buy new tires, cruise around gravel lots dirtying them up. One got stopped at the border cuz he did that without realizing he was line of sight from the crossing! Still; had the nubs on his tires. Our trick was to hide the booze in the diaper bag and the kids would all be tired and whiney on the way home. Almost always they just nodded and waved us through. Never once did they even go inside the travel trailer or the camper we had before that.
