If I still had a hobby farm I'd think of one, but I already have a gas pig Wrangler I want to replace. Should've kept the Saturn and gave my kid the Jeep. But I love her.... That's what I told a waiter once when he asked if I'd like a doggie bag for the leftovers. No thanks, I love my dog.... their TripAdvisor review was: I ate there. Once.

Trump's speech. Live thread
herbie replied to gatomontes99's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Someone who lives in a mirror universe are you? Who is going after the 1st, 14th, and 22nd Amendment? Gonna use your 2nd Amendment rights to defend enemies of your Constitution against enemies foreign and domestic? Enjoy the artwork of your hero made from what he really is: -
Won't be buying or drinking any beer with an American brand name, even if it's made here. Buy a Mexican one if I has to. Lobby to bring back Black Label, 50, O'Keefe's, Otherwise, it's Fish (Kokanee)

And Trudeau built THE oil pipeline. Because business decided it wasn't cost effective. Gas pipeline are another story, people don't shit their pants over pipeline leaks and tanker spills on unspoiled coasts and rivers. They did and are being built even if decades late. Now you loathers of 'socialist' govts want the govt to build pipelines? A "conservative" govt? DO you hear yourselves? Do you even remember WTF conservative means?

#1 seller is the Toyota RAV4. Made in Canada. Buick & Tesla, China. The tariff on autos is batshit insane, parts come from and are assembled all over. Worked building Kenworths before Free Trade, we'd sit the wheels unattached south, other builders did the same to ship north to circumvent tariffs. Stupid nonsense like that went on all the time. Now with parts crossing many borders many times, the sole effect will be to drive prices up for customers. Which will sell fewer cars, cost jobs reduce the incentive to invest in new factories. Even stupider than the Bronze Bozo kissing off EVs completely and costing US automakers to waste their billions invested.

The rest of NATO is waking up to the fact Trump's USA is anything but a reliable partner and we can boost our defences by buying arms and researching arms among ourselves and rely on the France/UK umbrella. The MAGAtt surrender monkeys can stay home and feel tough as the world buys Grippens and Rafaels and Airbus and Germany reclaims leadership in submarines. Canada was once a world leader in aircraft, rockets, and nuclear tech and can be again while you hide under your beds.

As M Hardner pointed out, Americans came to us for our products we didn't have to court the world for buyers. We'll be doing just that now wholehearted, and having multiple buyers for a product doesn't usually make them cheaper. With half the USA opposed to Trump and the rest about to suffer from his self imposed inflation to the notice of the rest, the tourism here should boom this summer. Just think in 4 years when the US is reduced to stumps, oil slicks and groundshaking fracking quakes, they'll pour into Canada.

Canada-US trade: Another day, more lies from Trump
herbie replied to Radiorum's topic in Canada / United States Relations
And we should "negotiate" with a man who tears up his own trade agreements? Shut off the oil & hydro for a couple days. So the US public sits up and takes notice. -
CBC is Revolting Garbage and Needs to GO
herbie replied to WestCanMan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Pages of nonsense from someone who doesn't even listen to or watch CBC, just repeats what his cronies have told him. Even now... get rid of CBC and let Fox tell us about trade wars, world news etc. he tells us. -
Exactly. Maybe those $8 handfuls of raspberrys going up to $10 will reboot our own production again. Can't believe a handful costs more than we earned picking them in a day!

Start a weed website and sell to Americans. Tie up their border security, their police and keep the customer money if their order is seized because it's their own damn fault. Been shopping for a new car for a year, now I don't have so many choices to ponder. One made anywhere but Detroit. Any EV besides Tesla.

Meme/Cartoon of the Day
herbie replied to WestCanMan's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
The Orange Oaf is solely responsible for redeeming Justin. Like I said before Justin's hater are merely jealous he's better looking, better educated and doesn't have to rape or pay for women. -

Finally their fog of Trudeau hatred is clearing. Took a miserable old bastard like Trump to make Justin look pretty good again.

Toronto-Quebec City High-Speed Rail
herbie replied to 500channelsurfer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
My last post was obviously sarcasm. Even if consideration for high speed was not involved as dedicated transit track along this corridor should have been done 40 years ago. Opposing it today is sheer blockhead-edness. Dougie's partly right in his comment. We tend on every damn project to spend an entire decade 'studying' projects until that alone gobbles up the original budget, so IF anything proceeds it's an order of magnitude more. The damn Port Mann bridge alone cost more than the province's entire budget was in the 1970s.
