Evidence does not matter to people who refuse to believe it. Even if they do, the accepted 1% reduction figure of the carbon tax will be pooh-poohed as insignificant. These are people who've decided that Canada's overall contribution is insignificant so why even make an effort. They need the money from that increase to buy a coffee with their fillup

Poilievre to Champion Basic Income?
herbie replied to Michael Hardner's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
"I can see conservatives supporting via basic income those who legitimately are unable to work, but i can't see them supporting those who can work but don't want to." A totally distorted view of the social system. UBI is not at all about giving out free money, it's a method to distribute due benefits more efficiently. If you understand why and how there are 'clawbacks' on pension payments for example, you should comprehend how UBI works. If you actually think you can exist comfortably on welfare you're simply not bright or motivated enough to be hired by anyone. You 'qualify' by default. But you still pay rent to a landlord, buy clothes goods and groceries to exist and contribute back i and aren't the "drain on the economy" some holier-than-thou types seem to think. Nothing changes other than you get one cheque instead of umpteen from umpteen agencies with their own bureaucracy. It would also hinder the political vote buying with carbon tax, GST, grocery, hydro and pandemic rebates. -

I.O.W. for exactly the same reasons it's a horrible idea for any one else to endorse it. It's nanny state communism if mentioned by the left, fiscally responsible by Tories. I mean that's what The Loyal Opposition means, you oppose it even if you agree with it just to be obstinate. -
Our Census Form vs Their Ballot
herbie replied to August1991's topic in Canada / United States Relations
You know the difference between ballots and census forms? You don't have to fill in every part of the ballot. That's why Single TranSferable ballots failed here. I have to pick 3 and rank them? Duh, that's too hard..... -
Tell me how a 55" flatscreen for 1/2 the price as my 26" CRT was in 15c valued for inflation dollars was a flop. Like the millions of minivans sold in US markets. All the jobs in ports and transport. You're whining about 3.5¢ gas tax and suggesting we go back to paying $1499 for $399 outboard motors like before the Trade Agreements. $3 for Mr Noodles too?

Trudeau Liberals Bribe Voters with Taxpayer Dollars

Maybe you should join the real world someday. The Band run school provides breakfast & lunch for kids that need it plus apples and fruit for snacks. The public school does not. Both serve the same population. Pretty hypocritical thing for someone in favour of ending birth choices and full parental takeover by Children & Families as an alternative to say. -
BC Premier EBY . . . carbon tax.
herbie replied to Nefarious Banana's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Which in real English means the less tax you pay, the lower your income is so you need the refund more than a wealthy person. The year after the wife died, I had to pay on her pension payout so I was disqualified from all rebates. Because I was wealthier that year. So be it. Come up with a newspeak name to make that fact seem like a despicable unfair thing. -

Let's dig up more gibberish terms to explain why feeding children is bad. MKAY? It's just bad, no thinking needed. -

What has wealth redistribution got to do with Marxism in 2024? Robin Hood was a Satanic Marxist? -

He DID drain the swamp. Until only the scum was left. Scum that would hawk nationalist Bibles during Easter Week... no limit to how crass one can get. -

You say that as if there's something "wrong" about wealth redistribution. Suck up those buzzwords fast as you can. -

The usual diatribe from deniers and delayers claiming everyone else are the stupid ones. Proof you can educate some, but there's no cure for stupid.
