  1. The Liberals plan will cost more and is a lot more complicated. No guarantees it gets implicated. The first 1% cut in the Conservatives plan will absolutely be implemented.
  2. The anti-Americanism does hurt. Shows how devoid of leadership material Martin really is. Canada would be far better off if he would have handled BMD maturely. Not giving Bush the heads up before the announcement was *classless* and jurt more than the actualy policy decision itself.
  3. Nothing on the site says anything about sending patients to the U.S. You are not fostering debate. You are just trying to get a rise, and getting pretty tiresome at it.
  4. Harper didn't say what you are claiming. Here is a quote of what he *really* said. (See how providing support for your claims fosters debate.) Harper health care quote. PS. Still waiting for a link to your phantom poll ...
  5. Playing to his base, a la Paul Martin. I personally don't agree with the policy, but that is part of being a grown up. Not *everything* Stephen Harper does is right and not *everything* Paul Martin does is wrong. On the balance of issues I prefer Harper. We get the point you hate Harper. Why come here, where people are trying to debate issues and hammer your point over and over and over again. Does it make you feel good? Do you feel like you are helping Canada that much by your rude behaviour and ignoring the rules of the board with your constant put downs of Stephen Harper?
  6. Normie, Your socialist background, i.e. lack of work experience, is showing. GW Bush is hurting for friends right now, to a far greater extent than Reagan ever was. You think he wouldn't be more inclined to help Harper, hmmm I never heard anyone on Harper's staff call Bush an a**hole. Harper can be trusted, unfortunately Martin's childish handling of BMD killed any chance of a professional, working relationship with GW. Nice take on why Harper quit Reform. Care to explain what the issues were and what even *one* potential deal could have been....
  7. norman, Your one note whinging is getting quite sad. How is Harper's legitimate opposition to the hate crimes legislation at all related to this post. Please, please don't post such biased material if you honestly want to foster debate.
  8. Back to a common area of agreement Monty. Funny how the article *also* didn't mention how the last party to hold this riding before Hedy Fry was the Progressive Conservatives. I know I knew the name of that MP at some point... What was her name? Wasn't she PM for a while?
  9. Québec has a history of backing the winner. I am not saying anything about a massive breakthrough for the CPC in Québec, but hell even Joe Clark won two seats in 1979. If the writing is on the wall that Harper is going to win power, I expect the people in at least one Québec riding to elect a guaranteed cabinet minister.
  10. He is going about that the only way he can, slowly but surely.
  11. Man, I would love to see Paul Martin lose. It would be shades of Don Getty again. For all you non-Albertans Getty was the Premier of Alberta just before Ralphie and managed to lose his riding one election. As the PC Premier of Alberta no less...
  12. I had a friend who used to work for the Alberta Report back in the day. Man, the tales he told about how agressive they used to be in seeking renewals can only make me wonder what stuff the Standard does. Oh wait, they are completely separate and unrelated publications... (I know the Report is long gone.) Yeah right!
  13. I don't think it is such a simple proposition. Lumping Clark, Campbell and Manning together is an example of the faultiness of what you are trying to say. All three failed to gain support in Québec for a variety of reasons. To chalk that up as just an anti-BC/Alberta bias ignores a number of issues. Including Clark's inexperience and brutal French, and Campbell's just plain horrific campaign. Believe me, I am no Liberal apologist either. I just feel the Conservatives need to do a better job at running to win, instead of running losing campaigns just to point fingers after the fact.
  14. No, actually I *knew* quite well what it was that he said. I kept the article for years to remind me what a blowhard he is. Just lost track of it somewhere... There is a fine line between ignorance and a victim of political correctness. He wasn't even close on this one. Klein represents all that is wrong with Conservatism to me. He *hates* people and cannot bridge dissenting opinion of any kind. His arrogance is appalling and quite similar to Paul Martin's arrogance. Say what you will, but moderate voices like mine are needed if the Conservative Party of Canada is ever to form government. You decide, but the CPC with Mark Steyn representing the views of the majority of its supporters will never win power. Ever.
  15. This fits perfectly inline with what the Conservatives were saying against universal daycare. There is a guaranteed cost ceiling, minimal overhead and it allows Canadian caregivers to make the choices that best serve them. Hmmm, good way to foster the debate with the Klein comment. You sure are a smart cool guy. Any other 'zingers' while you are at it?
  16. Monty, Ezra is a blowhard. Having seen him on tv, read his rantings and encountered him a number of times personally makes me discount him, and anything connected with him. He does a discredit to all thoughtful Conservatives and is the equivalent of scarascar. Remember, I am coming at this one from the same side you are on. I am just saying that to foster an honest debate we need to get rid of the histrionic doomsayers on both sides of the aisle. Including Ezra. Generally speaking I don't doubt the veracity of this article. Honestly, what do you think Harper's advisors say behind closed doors about the Liberals? But that being said, a credible source wouldn't run with this. As none have. btw, does anybody know how much Ezra was paid off to step aside for Harper in 2004? Mark Steyn became embarrassing and childish to me back in 1999 when he talked about some poor little 'jap' who stayed on an island for years after the war. If we Conservatives want to gain power, voices like Steyn's and Levant's need to be marginalized. ETA you would have to go to before Trudeay before the Liberals ever seriously thought about winning seats in Alberta. What is the big surprise...
  17. Let's compare these results to 2004. Starting out in BC. So much for the historic breakthrough for the Liberals. Let's say the CPC lose two seats. The Liberals lose one. The NDs pick up three and the Green breakthrough for one. (Cadman's seat explains the discrepancy.) Prairies. The Conservatives pick up three seats altogether - sweeping AB and one more in MB. Everything else stays the same. Ontario is a wash. Same results as 2004. Québéc could see as many as 65 seats for the bloc with the other ten going Liberal. No regional results for the Atlantic provinces, so let's call it the same as 2004. National results. Liberals - 120 MPs. CPC - 100 MPs BQ - 65 MPs NDs - 22 MPs Green - 1 MP. That would definitely lead to both the Liberal and the CPC leaders retiring early in the year with respective leadership conventions held in 2006.
  18. But we will promise to pay the full amount we get caught with back *eventually*! About $1.14 million?
  19. Boy that is an election winning scandal for the Liberals if I have ever seen one.
  20. Monty, You know I am one of the more conservative members of the board. But please don't ever post anything from the Western Standard. Ezra's ranting little rag is embarassing and childish. Best to distance yourself from it. In the long run it is more trouble than it is worth.
  21. I hear you and agree with you. I apologize, you came in the middle of scarascar's attacks and appeared to be siding with him. My bad! Please accept my apologies.
  22. Yeah, We all saw how much of an impact the appointments by Paul "Fight the Democratic Deficit" Martin, were in the last election. What ridings were those again? Burnaby-Douglas and Edmonton East pop to mind...
  23. I like the fact that this guy is so clueless he actually talked about 'raw raw Harper' songs. Hmmm, wouldn't that be 'rah rah'
  24. Would this be the thread title you are talking about? "Another Scandal Bombshell Monday, A Conservative One in Ottawa South" or "How stupid is Harper?" Why exactly are you tripping over yourself to support this guy? Hmmm, he started his thread to start a debate. I was simply saying if you don't like it leave. Look at the totality of what this guy has said about me. This scarascar has posted more personal insults in the evening he has been a member here then in the months I have been a member. Do you not see a correlation?
  25. We do know that the NDs won't form government. The way things are going now neither will the Liberals.
