Bakunin. Good link. Here's a couple little points.

Your friend's girlfriend *cried* because she smoked a joint and that is enough for you to ban all people from smoking pot? What is the next thing you want to ban then? Cheezy chick flicks? Soap operas? Celine Dion specials?(O.K. I would agree with that one.)

Harper getting good ink for SSM timing -
shoop replied to shoop's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Believe what you will, but I don't think there is any solid evidence supporting the fact that the government will have to invoke notwithstanding if they change the law. Primarily because the new law would have to be found unconstitutional in the first place. The law that replaces C-38 needs to provide all the rights of marriage with a different name, which will appease the legitimate concerns of the religious groups that are opposed to SSM. Then it will be very difficult for the Supremes to overturn it. -

Yikes, I am *definitely* not voting for Layton now. -
Yikes err, it takes a pretty hard-core rightwinger for us to see eye to eye. Damn rights I want to see pot legalized! What 14 year old boy doesn't thin they are old enough to be having sex! Why not ??? When I was 14 I thought differently... but was that ok because I was a boy ??? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Come on, show me a European country with combined state/provincial-national income taxes than Canada. How many of the 'poor' you speak of spend the majority of their food dollar on buying food from grocery stores as opposed to fast food which is taxed with the GST? But please do post links to these expenditure patterns you speak of. If they have 'nothing left' the Liberal tax cuts will help them even less as they are likely pulling in less than the basic personal exemption.

Kim Campbell says Harper will lose
shoop replied to normanchateau's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Twice, 93 and 97. There was a documentary on the Conservatives getting crushed in 1993, that I used to have a copy of somewhere. It was just an ugly example of finger pointing and placing blame. John Charest or Jim Edwards would have done much, much better as leader. Not saying much I though, anything would have been better than two seats. -

While I am guessing you are trying to be sarcastic with this one I don't really get it? How does this story play in to the "hidden agenda" line? -
But cutting the GST absolutely helps people from the middle classes and the poor more than it helps the rich. Weren't anti-poverty groups originally fighting against the GST as a regressive tax? Doesn't that make a proposal to cut the GST a good thing for anti-poverty groups?

Check out this site guys. http://predictor.hillandknowlton.ca/ It applies the results of all major published polls onto maps of the ridings throughout the country and predicts the resulting seat outcomes. Interesting stuff.

Kim Campbell says Harper will lose
shoop replied to normanchateau's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Thanks normie! That's the way to have a fair debate. I don't hold much faith in what Kim Campbell says - hell I even voted Liberal the one election she was at the helm of the Conservatives.... Funny how The Toronto Star, CTV, The Globe and Mail or CanWest didn't find this story worthy of publishing on any of their sites. Bias in the CBC? Nah, never... -
Your connection is a little lacking. Between creating jobs, strengthening our economy and adscam there is a lot to like in the Conservatives. That is why they are even with the Liberals in the last Ipsos-Reid poll. This translates to the following seat projections. CPC = 112 Liberal = 86 BQ = 67 ND = 42 Other = 1 Source. H & K Election predictor.

The RCMP investigates all the information referred to them. Maybe, just maybe an independent prosecutor would look at a different set of information.

Kim Campbell says Harper will lose
shoop replied to normanchateau's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Boy, Kim Campbell is a real authority on what it takes to win an election campaign. Try not ignore every rule of the board. Post links to information like this. -
The poorest 20% would be helped far more by a cut in the GST than in the tax cuts proposed by the Liberals. Given that many of those people will receive little, if any help, in raising the level of the basic personal exemption. By putting money into the hands of the people it creates a much more efficient way to deal with social problems than the mess that the Liberals have created in the last 13 years.
-
Unfortunately normie, the lies you have posted cannot be proven fales. I know the quote you put up isn't accurate. But can't prove it. So you can sit in your track pants and bask in the glory of your victory. Alas, your Liberals won't win the election so it will be a pretty pyrrhic victory. Please do respect the rules of the board though. It is the only decent thing to do. I thought Liberals stood for decency in Canada. (Don't attack me again, I have had enough of it.)
-
I haven't seen anyone make those claims as blatantly as you have. If they have they are breaking the rules of the board as well. As the old saying goes normie - Two wrongs don't make a right.
-
The media is far too kind to Harper? Wow, you are lost in your own world. The media controls the agenda, that is the way it is. You would be very hard pressed to find *any* neutral media analyst who would concur with your warped world view. The relevant point you are missing, as are many Liberals, is respect for people and common decency. There are rules to this board, that involve respect and treating people decently. Calling Harper a liar was out of line. Grow up and play by the rules.
-
What he is saying is it is very reasonable to believe the Conservatives will roll out further tax cuts as they lay out further policy announcements. Are you going to stand by your 'liar' comments? Do you really feel the rules of the board don't apply to you?
-
See norman, the media has moved on and you probly should too. btw, nice cut and paste removing the comments about breaking the message board rules. Very classy.
-
Shhh, don't point out the obvious for Norman. It takes away his raison d'etre for attacking the Conservatives as sadly as he is.
-
If you are stuck using week old quotes for attacks the Liberals are in pretty bad shape. It was hyperbole, but even the CBC has let that one go. Move on already. Better watch the liar line. Definitely breaking the rules of the forum...
-
Never did, just another case of how desperate the Liberals are getting for something to attack the CPC on. btw, is your handle from the old volleyball player?

Day 1 in the conservative parallel world

Evidence? Support? Oh I get it. Any CPC supporter is automatically a redneck no matter what. Good work Shakey, good work.
