  1. Very interesting how the story on CBC's Canada Now spent a good quarter of it's run time trying to spin a story of disharmony between Harper and McKay on this issue while the CTV Web piece doesn't mention it at all. Yet another example of CBC's 'fair and balanced' coverage?
  2. I suspect scary-scary-scary will be the *secret* ammunition the Liberals toss out as a Hail Mary in the dying days of the campaign. Supposedly they are going to try and run as the party best suited to deal with the Unity issue at the start of the campaign.
  3. Actually, I saw it on Newsworld tonight. Canada Now or something like that....
  4. I talked about the historic breakthrough line because the Liberals have been talking about gains in BC making up for projected losses in Québéc and Ontario. I just don't see where they are going to make those gains in BC. What was the vibe in the war room about Ontario?
  5. Exactly and the details will be worked out once the CPC is in power. btw, I love how the CBC tried to spin this story as one of *conflict* between Harper and McKay.
  6. I can see them making some gains, but if they end up with more than 15 seats in BC I will be shocked. And that definitely wouldn't be an *historic* breakthrough in BC. Here's a little hint about campaign offices. They are *always* overly-optimistic regardless of party, region or election. Kinda the nature of the beast.
  7. LC, I touched on that in the French in my post. For Québécois to talk about themselves as Québécois and people from the rest of Canada as Canadians is just the way it is done in French in Québéc, by Federalists and Separatists alike. That alone isn't enough to decide if someone is a Separatist or not.
  8. To clarify, I never said the Liberals would lose seats in BC. What I said, although maybe not clearly enough, is that the Liberals have a history of starting strong and losing support throughout campaigns in BC. That is why I am questioning the possibility of 'historic' Liberal breakthroughs there. Even the CBC painted BC as a battleground between the NDs and the CPC on Newsworld tonight.
  9. Sparhawk, if you are really interested in hearing the views of Francohpone Québécois why don't you take the time to learn French than to hurl insults? Oh it is easier to just hurl insults than actually study a language. But it is a very important difference in English. We are all Canadians.
  10. Wow, what a pathetic attempt by eureka to cover up. Weaker than usual...
  11. Two seats are going to go empty???
  12. Why post on an English board if it isn't your first language? Or does the Official Languages Act apply to MLW? If a minor glitch like this is the best you can come up with for a 'bad turn' then this campaign will be all good.
  13. That is Paul Martin. Hopefully enough 'persuadables' agree with you that we can change the government.
  14. Completely agreed. Interesting how the fact it came up in a question during a press conference cannot be found anywhere on the CBC Web site. Or is it?
  15. Probly, but it will be interesting to see how nervous Martin and his cronies get.
  16. I don't know if I have faith in the Liberals to pull the same magic this time around. What haven't they used already? The Conservatives have stayed on message and appear to have the media onside, for the most part, all good signs at this point. If things get much worse for the Liberals look for them to start pulling out all the stops next week or the week after.
  17. Could be a GREAT campaign. I am definitely watching the National tonight. If CBC doesn't cover that line it will be yet *another* example of their bias. Then again, what are the odds of them covering such a telling blow against Martin?
  18. All of your 'examples' are within the stand +/- 2.5 point standard deviation. Hardly a 'slide' down the polls. The early phase of this election, i.e. before Xmas, will set the stage for the real fireworks come the new year. Of course we are going to see things bouncing around, but Chrétien's lawsuit being filed today should help sustain the Conservatives into the next poll.
  19. Thankfully Goldstein appears to be wrong so far. The who loves Canada and SSM issues have already fallen off the radar. Only the CBC appears to be on the attack against the Conservatives this time around. Given the growing strength of Global National the CBC could find itself severely isolated in it's 'fair and balanced' coverage.
  20. Touché scriblett. Typical eureka, no support or substance, pretty vacuous. Kinda like the Liberals.
  21. Touché, but I think your example of the Conservatives "sliding down the polls" is a little suspect. One example does not a trend prove. The timing for this one is good as well. People will see Harper as a potential Prime Minister and evaluate the party on it's policies. Far too early in the game for the Liberals to define him.
  22. The Conservatives will be more than happy to keep the spotlight on the Liberals corruption and theft. btw When is that $1.14 Million going to be paid back? How does it feel having your former leader file suit against the government in the middle of the election? I am a little confused do the Liberals favour corporate tax cuts or oppose them? You see how the on again off again tax cuts can be a little confusing...
  23. The fact that the CBCs first clip from the campaign last night was of Martin's "My opponent has trouble saying it, but I love Canada!" Speaks to how biased the CBC coverage is and how much the CBC is in bed with the Liberals. With the blatant exception of the CBC, most of the coverage I have seen so far has been pretty fair.
  24. As long as Sponsorship is the story the Conservatives are doing well. Random Globe and Mail Link
  25. Québéc is a tough nut for the Conservatives. I agree Sharkman that they will try and take the high road. Not much room for making inroads there and appearing statesmanlike can only help in la belle provence.
