Harper won't siften marijuana possession laws
shoop replied to normanchateau's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
SC, I hear you, but I feel as if this is a more effective strategy. Normie's goal is to bring down the board by hammering time after time on the same theme. I have heard he has done it before. Eventually he will cross the line and Greg will bar him. Regardless he'll crawl back into his hole after January 23rd.... -

I really do hope Greg talks to normie. If normies goal is to crash the board, he is well on his way to doing it. I think if we all put normie on ignore we can just keep on going and he can whistle in the wind to himself. -
Jack Layton cannot talk Ethics NowJ

It is pretty questionable logic too. OK, Harper opposed C-38. Would that decision really change anybody's mind? If anybody changed their mind because of SSM they wouldn't change it back because of C-38. What kills me is the complete intolerance for people of faith. Derogatory names, dismissing their concerns. Uhhh, freedom of religion is a *right* that has always been guaranteed in this country. Why not respect it? -

Very interesting post duke. I hope you are right, because the Tories strategy seems to be very much inline with what you are saying. The Conservatives strategy is to win the 905 and other parts of Ontario (i.e. not the GTA). I feel that a massive swing to the Conservatives in Ontario, while not likely, is *possible* in this election. The key reason being the arrogance and corruption of the Liberals. -
SC, I agree those numbers are optimistic. I *hope* the Liberals try the strategy you are suggesting. The longer they wait the more likely Harper is to keep the momentum he has been building up so far. I have a feeling they are starting to crap their pants in the Liberal war room.

What are you saying? How is it 'pathetic' to let parents make the right choice for them? Additional funds in the hands of parents makes fewer parents 'who cannot afford it. Incentives for companies to provide daycare spaces means more parents who can 'afford it'. What do you mean 'children that will do anything'? 'Scheme' nice attempt at pushing the hot buttons! They aren't collecting any more money. In fact they will be collecting less, thus lowering overhead. Or are you unfamiliar with how tax credits work?
-
That is why the Liberals are currently so sad. They act like they are in favour of people deciding their own futures when governing - unless they need the help of the NDs to stay alive. I believe parents are the ones best positioned to make the right choices for their chidren's daycare.

Because it is on the insignificant prairies. The Liberals don't really care about the prairies. Never have and never will. -
Normie your sarcasm, if one could call it that, is sad and doesn't further the debate. Please try and say *something* that fosters some element of the debate. Harper has never called Martin a communist. Are you trying to smear him with another baseless allegation?

Voters upset about cost of election?
shoop replied to cybercoma's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The Liberals have pretty much given up using the 'cost of the election' line. That or *NO* media is covering it, not even the fair and balanced CBC. -
Err, you conveniently ignore the $1.25 Billion in employer tax credits to credit daycare spaces that is part of the plan. Putting money in the hands of those who manage it best, i.e. not the government, will provide us to the best solution to the problem.

I think that most persuadables won't be inclined to go with one party or another over this issue. The NDs gave a proposal to move the election up five or six weeks from the Liberals preferred date. The Liberals said no. Noboby can really be *blamed* for the early election. -

That 'sector' of the population is families raising parents. People who would like help making the correct choices, in their views, for providing care for their children. -
Tories Promise Help for Fisheries

It was more than implied. His kneejerk anti-Harper response came against a policy that is good for Canadians. -

What? This doesn't make any sense. By lowering the GST rate, it allows Canadians to keep more of their hard earned money. No quotes because some of us don't demean how hard people really do have to work for their money. -
Joual is wonderful? I work my butt off in class *not* to sound like that. A Western Canadian CPC MP who speaks slang-ridden French like that isn't helping himself with the Québec elite. Don't let anyone tell you anything else. If the candidate can't sell himself to the elite, he won't be able to get his message to the people.
-
VK, Clearly you don't like Harper. There was a very good *strategic* reason to deal with the SSM issue when Harper did. It's called timing! By dealing with the issue when he did, it is behind him and he doesn't have to worry about it coming up at a less advantageous time. A free vote in the House of Commons would allow the voice of the majority of Canadians to be heard on the issue *IF* the Liberals and NDs truly treat it as a free vote.
-
Hmmm, dodging the question. Too lazy and arrogant to do the work yourself. No wonder you support the Liberals! btw, thanks Kiraly!
-
Like I said Moore will make a good leadership candidate one day. My French is ok, but not great. Couldn't find joual in my dictionary? Est-ce que cette mot largot pour acccent? I have noticed a huge difference between the accents in the smaller town parts of Québec and Montréal/Québec city. Do explain where his joual fits in. Say what you will but Moore will win again. Interesting in all your hatred for Harper how you never mentioned the fact that he allowed a free vote on C-38, while Martin didn't. Or is representing constituents views only important when they are your views, regardless of the riding?
-
Ahhh, I get it. You respond to a request for evidence by asking for evidence to disprove your baseless statement. Pretty weak. How about this, I will give you two for one. Either provide evidence of your phantom poll OR support your statement on softwood lumber and i will provide what you ask.
-
James is a good guy, but pretty young. Give him a decade or so in public life. He will only be 29 at the time of the next election. Harper and MacKay have both had to deal with questions concerning their experience. That would be a natural issue with Moore at the helm. Come on normie there are other CPC MPs who voted for SSM. Do you have any other reasons for supporting Moore?

From very personal experience I can tell you that Anne is an incredibly nasty biotch. Anne might lose this time around. If the polls are sitting right about where they are now come election time I think she will lose. Her re-elections have been to guarantee the riding a cabinet minister. To her *credit* she has brought a lot of pork to the riding, which unfortunately sways some voters. Nobody would vote for her as a potential backbencher.... -
I think it is a symptom of a larger malady. The arrogance and mean-spirited attitude towards the U.S. hides feelings of inadequacy and intimidation. Sadly, we are missing a great opportunity here. Americans generally wouldn't care, but any friend for Bush right now would be a great friend.
-
Again with the Harper attacks without support or evidence of any kind. Why oh why?
-
See normie, you started out on the right path. A fair assessment of MacKay, but you had to add the kneejerk attack on Harper. Why oh why?
