Decriminalization vs. Criminalization
shoop replied to normanchateau's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That's just the way it is with almost any issue. Strange though, but for whatever reason the MSM is covering issues that play much more to helping the Conservatives in any election in the last decade. Makes you kinda wonder how much of this is because of Harper's new communications team (since the last shake up)/new messaging and how much is due to the MSM just deciding it is time to introduce a little competition into the system. -
Decriminalization vs. Criminalization
shoop replied to normanchateau's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Are you claiming a right-wing bias in the MSM? I would say it is more an issue of *salience* in most people's minds. I don't have any issues with decriminalization, but it isn't that important to me. If it were to a lot of Canadians the issue would get a lot more coverage than it is. -
Parents will blow childcare cash on beer & popcorn
shoop replied to Montgomery Burns's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
What have the Liberals proposed to deal with the growing problem of childhood obesity? Let me guess, government-run and sponsored fat camps. Parents would definitely be in the bad for blowing *this* tax break on beer/popcorn. -

Harper Responds to the Washington Times

How often had you heard him before the time on CBC Radio? He is an intelligent, well-reasoned man. The more people listen to him, instead of what other people say about him, the more they like him. -

Brilliant quite brilliant. I have a friend who was a White House intern after Monica, but before the shit hit the fan. One of her fellow interns was a knockout. One event Billy walked in and looked her up, down and up again. The knockout was never in the same room with Billy again! -
Poll gives Liberals commanding lead

Cartman, this poll *is* looking very good for the CPC. From the last election they are up slightly, .4% and the Liberals are down 2.7%. Will that be enough to change goverment? Possible given that the Liberals look poised to lose at least 6 seats in Quebec. That remains the CPC has to take a net of 15 seats from the Liberals in the Rest of Canada. Entirely possible... I wonder if some Quebec riding will be shrewd enough to elect a CPC MP. A surefire cabinet minister. Those BC numbers are a little disheartening for the CPC, but they are moving in the right direction. With these numbers they would probably lose a seat or two. Those prairie numbers are great for the Conservatives. Actually puts the possibility of a sweep into play, albeit remotely. There are ten seats the party didn't win on the prairies last election. Anything less than a pickup of four or five should be considered a disappointment with those numbers. Picking up seven or eight is realistic. The SES numbers have been a little strange. Their last posted results only talk about 'western canada', but it gives the CPC an 11 point lead (44 to 33). I would guestimate that falls roughly inline with these numbers reported in the CTV poll. -

Nope, never said that. Not even close. Look at my opinion against CPC supporters using canadafreepress as a 'legitimate' news source. Anybody who comes with the sole intent of attacking needs to be banished. Regardless of your personal feelings you should *treat* all posters with respect. That is the wish of the moderator and one of the rules of the board. btw, you have noticeably calmed down since you got here. What's up with that? -

Dude, You are killing me. I know the *exact* position you are in. When John Paull II died I was 99.9% sure that Ratzinger would get the nod. Sooooo many things pointed to it. I didn't place a bet because I couldn't find a site I trusted. This is the line I would bet on for that site. Total Seats Won, Including All Recounts Conservatives +12.5 seats But can you trust them. That is the key... IMHO their odds makers are pretty astute. 60.5 for the over/under for the Bloc is pretty good. -

Two questions to these statements. Why and why? If yuo couple the child care tax credit, with the cut in the GST that will put more cash in the hands of working parents who need help in arranging child care for their children... -

There is a practical angle to this. A 'voucher' or any other system aside from giving parents the cash directly will involve a large amount of overhead. Am I the only one who found the *popcorn* side of the issue really quite strange? I have spent my fair share on beer, but why popcorn? Was that code for weed? -

Biblio, I agree that things are looking pretty good for the CPC right now. But can they hold on to their momentum. SES numbers for December 11th. National Liberals 39 CPC 31 Ontario Liberals 47 CPC 36 Those two sets of numbers point to a CPC minority. Just don't screw it up... These upcoming debates will be very important. The most important election debates in over twenty years. -
The *fact* that Québec paid more into Confederation than it got out was an article of faith in Québec up until very recently. The Liberals should just point to very similar remarks André Boisclair made in the just past PQ leadership race. I don't see anything in Chalifour's remarks about Québec being *proud* of dependency. See Liberals, it isn't so nice when your words get misinterpreted.

The arrogance and ignorance of the statement knocked me over. Do you agree with his low opinion of many Canadian parents? Is there anything the Liberals could do or say to get you worked up *against* them? -

I think you are doing something right when you are accused of bias from both ends of the spectrum. Subtle accusations of bias are a favorite of mine too. I love to hear how I'm biased against nearly everyone! Greg Admin <{POST_SNAPBACK}> -

Six weeks out she was two points down. The last published poll before the election she was 25 points down and lost by 25.2% on the day of the election. Source: 1993 Canadian Election info.. Middle of the page, RHS for the polls... -

Pharmer, You are correct, but after adscam that is an *IF* I don't believe the Liberals capable of doing. i.e. investing our money conscientiously. I agree with cc, why not give parents the option to stay at home with their children? The Liberal plan gives parents ZERO options. Either put your children in the facilities we've allocated money to, or so sorry...too bad for you. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> -

Today, December 11th. The numbers are looking better. Liberals: 39% CPC: 32% That means the Conservatives have gone from 26% to 32% in two days. So the 15% margin fell to 7% in two days! Were that many Canadians impressed by the Cancer announcement? Or maybe there are methodological issues with SES... -

Your clear hatred for the CPC is why you really shouldn't be here Normie. You show no respect for the other posters and continually aim to attack, attack, attack. However, I disagree with the fact that some of us cannot be influenced. Just because you choose to behave the way you do here doesn't mean it applies to everybody. There are others of us who have changed their opinions on certain issues. We don't necessarily have to change our party affiliation for the board to affect us. Please respect your fellow posters a little more in the future. -
Wrong. Us CPCers call the Liberals corrupt, thieves and full of a sense of entitlement. We have 1.14 million pieces of evidence to support all of these charges. Ask Justice Gomery. All the Liberals have for their attacks are innuendo and rumour...

Didn't the Liberals care what Kinsella said in 93, 97 and 2000? Hell even Paul Wells has picked up on this story. Many people in the ads have a direct financial interest in the Liberals winning. Of course they want a Liberal government, but how do they represent average Canadians... It is dishonest and sad. Why couldn't they find ordinary Canadians to appear in the ad? That would have been preferable. -

It is shady and dishonest. Just like the kickback schemes in adscam were acceptable until public revulsion said they weren't. The arrogance is appalling... -

The whole thought of it makes me wonder, why bother having boards like this if it is just going to be an organized effort at yelling at people from other parties. My bad. It is from Libs article but he got the article from somewhere else. -

Are you ok? I don't really know how you define 'smut', but I don't really think it applies to anything in this thread. Doesn't it have more of a sexual connotation? If you don't want to defend Paul Martin, just don't. Canadafreepress.com is an embarassment. Truly only the real right wing hacks read it regularly. Believe it or not, that does not consitute the *majority* of CPC supporters.
