  1. Yes, I agree, we need to maintain a calm, civil and intellectual dialogue. Keep perspective on the scale of things. I find climate alarmism detrimental to the discussion, just as climate change denial can be. But in the end, real substantive change must come from political leaders and industry. And so far we have seen about 30 years of empty promises, failed commitments and foot-dragging. Perhaps these are the people who don't really believe in climate change.
  2. See the issue is calling oneself a "Trump Supporter". I am not necessarily a supporter of any person, because people are complex and may differ on various salient points. For example, I might support Trump's ideas on restricting trade with China, but not his advice on ingesting Draino to fight covid-19. In any case the drug problem in the last ten years or so has gone "high", as if it's on "steroids". But the reasl issue is deadly street drugs (fentanyl) coming from... China. So again, I support the notion of restricting trade with them. Actually I support banning all trade from them, but it can't be done overnight. Ah, if only I were king... .... Reading the link MH provided, it states that the epidemic of drug overdose deaths is so extreme. Trump said that just one drug dealer can be responsible for hundreds of deaths. That needs to be stopped. Ask the families of young kids who made a mistake, and are dead. I do not support capital punishment in the form of death penalty in principle, as I am a Canadian. The state has no right to take life, imo. Life sentence no parole.
  3. Is my understanding, in the US they like their welfare-slave class. By that I mean the illegal latino migrants that make up a certain percent of the population, which they readily use as labourers for the lowest cost. You can't complain about your working conditions or terrible wages when you're an illegal immigrant. Blatant racism is rampant in America. A few Canadians I know that moved there were fairly shocked at the culture. Everything's about race.
  4. And when it is cold and does snow a lot, these people start screaming that it's "climate change causing extreme weather!!!" <insert chicken-little icon> Meanwhile we haven't really gone up much in global temperature yet. Although the average is rising, and things are changing (glacial melting has increased) we haven't reached the so-called "tipping point" where effects become impactful, which is still projected to be years away. So why are they screaming like it's already here, now? The projections for climate change are on the order of decades to centuries. Relax everybody.
  5. Winter is not over yet. Winter started on Dec 21.
  6. Yep. Bad weather this year.
  7. We in Canada are well aware of the systemic racism that is long standing in the United States. When you guys gonna fix that, bro?
  8. You may have just committed a felony.
  9. Right, so Trump improved the economy and jobs for everyone, regardless of skin colour. Proving he is not racist.
  10. It's already known that they have several missiles capable of reaching USA, for years now. "The Taepaedong-2 (Big Dong) has a range of more than 9300 miles is capable of hitting anywhere in the United States." Here is an article substantiating this against your baseless claims. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-67745684 .... You people really need to learn what is meant by "horse hockey". Plus the ability to attack US INTERESTS was already achieved long ago.
  11. Is actually endemic of the problem, meaning, it cannot be dealt with quickly. The rush to use EV's is all good and well, if they can be made to work in Canadian climes, and IFF (if and only if...) we have the electrical infrastructure to use them. I mean, can you imagine a massive blackout for weeks in this country right now? We're talking serious emergency. As a homeowner I know I'd be getting a gas generator, and will end up in a line with a million other dipshits trying to do same. That's why, little herbie. Gotta think, think, think... .... And now for another, useless anecdote. We got a ferry boat service here to take people and cars to the island. The boats have been in service way too long and need replacement. But then, the virtue-signalling city council, who were the first in Canada to declare a "climate emergency" in this town, decided to buy a new fangled electric ferry. Result- project went way overpriced and overdue, and the boats are still not in service. Main problem is electrical infrastructure at the docks. They can't charge them sonomabitzes fast enough while the cars are loading and unloading, don't have the amperage. Fast chargers not good anyway, right? Now they're trying to 'float' the idea of 90-minute turnaround (as compared to 30 minutes for the old boats), presumably to give them more charge time as needed. Must be some big ass batteries on those boats I would imagine, they haul up to 75 cars and 400 people. The geniuses at the Ministry of Transport are suggesting get the new EV ferries up and ready by using diesel generators so they can charge the batteries continually while enroute. So ya got yer gas engine to charge the batteries, to run the boat as a so-called green "electric fairy". My oh my. That's government inaction for ya.
  12. Well thanks I guess but I am just another ordinary Joe Bob around here. I know what I know, you know what you know... maybe if we all stop being ass-hats we can learn something. But still, ass-hattery is too much fun for some and it will rule the day if we allow it. I am no expert on trade or politics, but this site helps me stay current. Because of you people... Now, on with the numerology... 1. I can't defend why he withdrew without looking closer at the reasons given. But am aware that despite this, America has shown leadership in reducing pollutant and GHG emission. The dilemma is not whether or not we want to protect the environment, it is HOW. And sad truth is, no one has lived up to their committment. If Canada wants to take the lead, ok fine, but then again our total GHG output is insignificant compared to large industrialized nations. Thus (a) We can slash our output to the point we're back to living in caves, and would not be a major impact on total emission. (b) In any cases I suspect many such reports are lies, and the real emission level of Canada and others is higher than admitted. 2. I get mine for "free" from work, and it's nothing special. I had an android before and liked it better. 3. Short term pain is sometimes necessary for long term gain. Like a drug addict has to go through withdrawal, a painful experience, in order to get clean. But greed is almost always the underlying motivation for things. Greed will not go away soon. What is interesting in that example is how it tied together those claims I made, globalism, regulations, trade and medicine. Some of these things, like drugs and medical supplies are matters of national security. China and India are not good friends of Canada. 4. Maintaining trade and positive relations with other countries good. But, it is by no means a guarantee of trust or cooperation, as history shows us time and agin' I don't see the world as a better place today than it was 50 years ago. History shows nothing but warfare and strife through the ages, and this conflict is still deeply rooted in our international relations. As a North American, I think we depend on the United States to give us the umbrella of freedom we live under. Possibly the most free, safe and equitable time in human history. So it is necessary to be biased, to defend USA for our own selfish interests. C'est la guerre.
  13. Jeeps do completely suck. As a former Wrangler and Patriot owner I can say... never again. Those are just for pansy-boys who are all into looks, not substance...
  14. I hope and wish. But... I was already at that point in the last election, after seeing all the Blackface photos come out. I hoped that Canada would redeem itself by completely rejecting this disgusting, useless entitled fool, as to me he stands for everything that is un-Canadian. Right down to the blatant racism that he portrayed. Really he took Canada backwards, just as liars always call out someone else doing what they have actually done. But I was wrong. Again... 🤷‍♂️
  15. Wow, that's so cool. Did you replay that on your computer video game, "Call of Duty"?
  16. Yes indeed, I agree. We must, all of us who benefit from the peace and security America brings, play our part in protecting the vanguard of freedom. MAGA
  17. That would only be a small part of the problem. But since, we are talking about a new technological/industrial revolution as a way of doing things cleaner and greener, globalism is in conflict with that on many levels. A country that refuses to implement environmental regulations... and there are powers in the west who like it that way, who need to keep it that way. Why? Because in our own countries we HAVE such regulations, forcing the price of production up significantly. Trump also proved this is true, by slashing regulations in the United States in order to 'level the field' as it were, which was a substantial part of how he reinvigorated the US economy. Can learn about it here, in this google search I've provided- https://www.google.com/search?q=trump+slashed+regulations So, this is a good time for a rethink on how we do things. Stop being so greedy. You might not have the best phone for a decade or so, until we start making them right here. Certainly phones are not a good example, undermines the significance of it. Prescription drugs are a better one. Here's an article to explain the issue. https://www.nortonrosefulbright.com/en/knowledge/publications/267cfb99/made-in-canada-the-challenges-of-increasing-domestic-production-of-pharmaceuticals "Beginning in the 1980s, strengthening environmental policies and rising labour costs in western countries caused a shift in consumer goods manufacturing from domestic-based to foreign-based, primarily in India and China. As much as 60% of active pharmaceutical ingredients are produced in China while 70% of finished pharmaceuticals (such as tablets) are produced in India. This translates to 70% of all finished prescription drugs in Canada and 90% of all components used in drugs manufactured domestically originating from abroad."
  18. I don't need to know. Pass it along to those who are proclaiming "America has never been a racist country." Then you'll actually be on topic. For a change...
  19. I don't think so. It sounds to me like you were calling out right wingers as responsible for "dividing Democrats (the left)" and that Trump and Netanyahu are buddies in collusion. Now you folks have had a little history lesson, and come back with, "well it wasn't worth much anyways..." or something like that. Still waiting to hear what good things Uncle Joe did towards ME peace. Maybe it doesn't matter? He's white... and polite.
  20. And I am not pro-Israel specifically, though I am pro-peace. Such is progress in international politics. Did Trump do the wrong thing again? What's your guy doing? "Joe the Bomber" Biden. You guys really don't know much, do you. Just mind the hair.
  21. "U.S. forces identified the missiles in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen and determined that they presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels and the U.S. Navy ships in the region. U.S. forces subsequently struck and destroyed the missiles in self-defense," the U.S. Central Command said in the post on X."
  22. I gave no OPINION, dorfenburger. I gave several links, including USA Today (your country!!) and Brookings Institute. Enjoy the gravy
  23. The more Arab countries that are brought to sit at the same table as Israel and talk about peace and normal diplomatic relations, the better, yes? No? Oh, I see.
  24. Thanks to Uncle Joe, who in the meantime has started a new middle-east war with the US and UK sorties in Yemen. Brought to you by Joe "The Bomber" Biden.
  25. Sorry, I don't get your question. If you have a point to make, spit it out. I provided a link, so if you didn't know about this, can start reading.
