The legislation covers some aspects of teaching in schools, I include the topic broadly under 'wokism'. I often provide links to substantiate my claims, and it from these that I form my opinions after reading. Is not about how I feel so much as what I find out. Being well informed is more important than judging from my own personal sphere, of which these things hardly touch and SEEM irrelevant. Do I wish that government would stay focused on their limited role to run the economy and legislate? Of course. But is not what we have now. Politics an stuff.

A veto, without any form of public voting or representation? Sounds un-democratic and unconstitutional. Sounds like political virtue signalling, given out for political points despite knowing that it will fail if challenged. Crown land belongs to the crown, in other words under purview of the federalis.

I've changed my mind on Donnie
OftenWrong replied to West's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
What is a 'good person'? Does that mean you think Joe Biden is one? Some of the greatest leaders are not very nice in person. Shouldn't policy and ideas matter more than whomever is portrayed as a nice guy in their projection on the media? -
What lying words? CdnFox is not lying when he says they included legislation for other things they want pushed through that are unacceptable to certain elements on the right. That is typically how these bills are presented. I suspect there are more than a few government leaders, on both side, who oppose the idea of limitless funding for this war and don't mind finding a reason for it to stop. The real lying words are Joe Biden -"We are going to support you, for as loooooong as it takes."

As a parent who raised three kids, from both genders, I am absolutely against giving them autonomy to make decisions that will affect the rest of their lives before they are mature enough to understand. The role of government and lawyers, or medical boards goes too far if they think they have the right to interact privately with my child without my knowledge. I am their legal guardian. Not some committee or chivatto in a federal office. That is crossing the line.

You claim it is 'not happening' which is probably false. The things addressed in this legislation are happening, although low in number of incidence. Yet that number began rising dramatically, specifically the number of young people expressing interest or desire to undergo sex change procedures in Canada. Here is a link, although the data discusses recent US stats. - Canada too quick to treat gender dysphoria in minors with hormones, surgery "A major, ongoing U.S. college health study found the percentage of students identifying as transgender or gender non-conforming soared from about .05 per cent between 2008 and 2015 to three to four per cent recently." But I have read similar info about the sudden increase in interest in Canada. You can find your own links, if you want to educate yourself. Second, why has there been such a level of media attention to the subject, both in news and social media? This is what sways public interest. Politicians are not just pulling a rabbit out of a hat. Third, I've shown you in the past where a Teacher's association provides info and resources to teachers in Ontario about teaching wokism in the classroom, when you doubted it. Do you remember that? Part of this legislation regulates the types of materials, books that are permitted to be used in elementary schools, requiring sex ed materials to be approved before they can be given to students. That doesn't mean they cannot be used, or that this material cannot be taught at all. Bottom line, this is an issue that stands out strongly in the media. Trudeau has already weighed in, attacking Danielle Smith and her policy. Evidently he finds it important to discuss, at the highest level.

The essence of Trumpism
OftenWrong replied to myata's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Obama urged protesters on, encouraged them to incite more violence. Obama tells protesters to 'make people in power uncomfortable' Followed up by Michelle O'Bummer during an interview- "What I'd urge young people to do is be rageful, and own it" .... But hey. Always happy to educate you Americans about your own country's history, although I'm starting to doubt you actually are one. -
Actually I cheer for what they are doing, and listen with disdain to the visceral attacks on Daniel Smith coming from the media. In all the media I've seen on this, all they do is get reactions from people in the queer community and how they feel about it. Haven't seen them talk to one single parent to ask them their views however. It really is showing a level of disregard for the opinions and needs of families, whom I suspect are probably pleased with these changes. The laws don't take these rights away, they simply define an age limit. And yet they DO allow exeptions for minors as long as the parents, doctor and a psychologist agree the young person should be permitted to go through with it. What exactlyvdo you think is wrong with that?

I went to Atlanta some years ago for business. Had never been before, and probably will never go again. The one thing I remember most was going to a big mall. And everybody who worked behind a counter, I mean EVERYBODY was black. And everybody who was walking around with shopping bags, wuz WHITE. Seemed suspicious to me.

THE DEMOCRAT PARTY – A DEMONIC CULT OF DEATH
OftenWrong replied to Deluge's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Oh I thought you meant the Dems there actually. There's helping and there's virtue signalling. But neither US party has a monopoly on being 'good guys'. So pick yer poison. Are you asking me or telling me? Because telling me whst I think is a classic liberal ignorant faux pas. Telling people what they believe, tgen taking them to task on your imaginary fables. When will you people learn to stop doing that? It's really getting dull... Oh sorry I thought you meant touchy-feely hair sniffing uncle Joe, or Billy Clinton and his premier membership to Lolita Island, while his wife watched. Or Bill Gates, another bigtime liberal child molester. So why do these liberal pedophiles get a pass from you? -
How many have you helped? No need to answer that, will probably be a lie anyway. Besides, whi cares what you say. The telling point is what happens when a state like Texas sends busloads of these illegals to the blue states that are doing most of the virtue signalling about letting them in. Then the moaning starts. It's all fine until the "problems" show up in your own backyard. What a perfect move to expose liberal hypocracy.
-
I don't really give a hoot anyway. But interesting it doesn't take much to get you excited. Also noteworthy that @Aristides gives you a big "thanks" for calling someone an a-hole. Hey aristides, how's that sanctimonious virtue signalling about not using insults? You asked for an example. Well that didn't take long. That's what I mean about you, absolute hypocracy showing itself, absolutely.

Taylor Swift Derangement Syndrome
OftenWrong replied to Rebound's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
It's good advice actually, unless they don't mind alienating 50% of the population and hearing complaints. My preference is to keep politics in a bottle. Do not make the arts and sports political. I've said this before, politics pervading every aspect of society, sports, arts, theatre, is a form of totalitarianism. And that has nothing to do with your party preference. -
Ask the little old lady confined to her bed about that, when she got pommelled by a 300 pound security guard for whining. Or the lady killed by security guards for not wearing a mask. I did a google search and the results are horrific. https://www.google.com/search?q=old+lady+attacked+by+hospital+security You better say baaaa. And nicely too.

Not necessarily a majority, no. But at least 49- 50%.

They are already begging for an excuse to do that now. They will use Trump as the bad man. As per uge
