  1. I agree with you there.
  2. I'm impressed how you are now pitting grain farmers against people who care about the environment. If it weren't for our idiotic enviros, we wouldn't have the preservation of what little rain forests we have in Canada, or the comeback of many endangered species of mammals, animals, plant life etc. Sometimes you just need to get out of the way and let the enviromentalists do the job that most of us would rather not do.
  3. Actually, that's not about it. "Digestive health: HFCS can cause bloating and gas. This is because large amounts of HFCS feed the natural bacteria in our intestines, which produce gas. To reduce gas, avoid consuming large amounts of HFCS by choosing water and 100% fruit juice instead of soft drinks and sweetened fruit beverages." I actually heard an interesting conversation on CBC radio the other day and the guest was a dietitian who said that our bodies cannot tell the difference between fruit juice and a glass of pop. If we want fruit juice, it is highly recommended to eat the fruit. And I don't think it's a matter of keeping government out of our sugars. It's a matter of adopting a healthy and active lifestyle early in life. That usually carries forward into adulthood with healthy habits. When you adopt a healthy lifestyle, you tend to not want or crave refined sugars.
  4. There are a couple of interesting facets to this case. One is that it is being tried by judge only. And she is only the 2nd black judge 'ever' in South Africa. Being a judge, I am sure she is impartial, however I am interested in seeing the wheels of justice applied to a powerful and wealthy white family in SA. I have also not seen many cases such as this with all the sensationalism that is attached to it being tried by judge only with no jury. When I said Florida, I really wondered (and for sure there is no comparison) what would have happened if the Zimmerman and Dunn case were tried by judge only. Yes, I wondered too about the 177m? The defence 'proved' that it could not be heard but will the prosecutors also 'prove' that screams could certainly be heard from that distance. And I don't believe news directors are cramming this case down our throats. If you don't want to follow the case, then don't.
  5. Well, actually I do. I am curious to watch a trial by judge only, and the only 2nd black judge in that part of the world. How will she judge the facts compared to what has been done in Florida. I mentioned this in my first post.
  6. For once, I agree with you Argus. If a man gets up to check on a burglar, would he not first check that his woman is safe beside him in his bed?
  7. We all know Pestorius will be judged by a black woman judge and not by jury. Do you think his case will be fairly judged? I am curious as to how the judge will view the evidence in this case and how we will compare the decision given in this case to the atrocities in Florida jury cases. How do we measure a judges decision compared to a jury?
  8. Do you have relatives in Cremea? I understand concerns of the legality of the ukrainian govt. Do you support the PM that was just released from prison?
  9. There are women here too. What are your credentials, besides being a Ukranian. Do you live in Cremea or in the U.S., Canada? How close are you to the situation? What do you see as misunderstanding on this board?
  10. The reason I suggested the above is that at times, these forums seem so clinical and detached. When that happens, folks tend to lash out more at each other instead of treating members with respect.
  11. Is it possible to have a thread where newbies can post a bit about themselves, say hello etc and in turn, members can respond and welcome them and give information about themselves if they so desire?
  12. If anyone cares to tune in, Snowden is going to speak at the South by Southwest Festival via videolink from Russia on Monday, March 10th. He will give his thoughts about the impact of the NSA's spying efforts on the technology community and ways technology can fight mass surveillance. Regardless how one feels about Snowden, it should be interesting. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/edward-snowden-speak-sxsw-russia-article-1.1710629
  13. The athletes are still going but so far no government officials are attending from Canada, U.S. and Britain.
  14. I wouldn't bet on that. Provincial governments are looking at ways to use 'cloud' computing to store data and processes. There are advantages and disadvantages to this of course, but once 'cloud computing' is implemented, health records will be even more difficult to keep private.
  15. It took Kimmel months to get Ford on his show. I'm also presuming that the other late night hosts tried as well.
  16. Every politician needs to be ruthless and Obama is no exception. However, being ruthless and abuse of power don't necessarily need to go hand in hand. Putin seems to have both of these traits nailed down.
  17. Any late night comic would have jumped at the chance to have Ford on their show. Kimmel just beat them all to it! I must say, Ford did squirm quite a bit on the show but he sure has balls for going on.
  18. I'm pretty sure I can tell the difference between crap and substance.
  19. I have been following this thread for a bit and I find it alarming how 'Keepitsimple' and 'Accountability Now' can get away with their accusations and insults towards Waldo. Now, perhaps I'm missing something because I haven't been here that long, but I see clear evidence of Waldo presenting facts and no evidence of what the other two are saying. Facts speak for themselves and facts have clearly been presented here.
  20. Are you absolutely sure this is the tone feminists take? Where are the stats to prove that?
  21. I would venture a guess that Americans simply no longer have an appetite for military confrontation and the Obama Administration knows it. There are plenty of other ways to deal with Putin and like mentioned above, it remains to be seen. Military confrontation is a last resort after other options have been implemented such as freezing assets, travel bans and economic sanctions although most experts see these options as not very effective. Obama won't appear weak because there really isn't much he can do against Putin.
