  1. They also bury their husbands, care for grandchildren, carry on the family, do you want your mother, grandmother to carry on the financial liability?
  2. I offered some organic suggestions. No need to advertise. However we all saw where that went.
  3. We do. It's called honour killings. Look it up. Here in the western world it's called violence against women. No difference. Look it up.
  4. That leaves 63% disillusioned with politics. All the more reason to vote to keep us as a Peacekeeping nation.
  5. Whatever happened to Canada's peacekeeping missions. Is Harper a traitor to our deeply ingrained culture?
  6. I recall a time when Canada stood for 'Peacekeeping'. Studies have shown that when peacekeeping countries are deployed, there is a 50% greater chance of attaining credible peace. Canada once had an international reputation of fighting to preserve peace. Whatever happened to those ideals that many of us Canadians stood for. What happened to us?
  7. Of course cybercoma represents anyone outside of the white middle class or retired white male specimen. We clearly have a well diversified opinion that represents all others. 'We were all outsiders once'. You do mean, white retired or middle class men, do you not? Again, how do we create a diversified and multicultural forum here?
  8. You are an American telling us our rights? Do I have that correct?
  9. What bothers me the most about all these topics is that we have such a vanilla view of everything. Mostly we have feedback from retired or middle aged white men. We have no feedback from women, Asians, Muslims, etc. we are operating in a vacuum. I would love to hear from outsiders to this forum. How do we do that?
  10. I already gave my reasons why I think they are wrong and you are one of the men here who regularly objectifies women.
  11. Not really, because your comment is full of crap.
  12. This is why we need more women on this forum.
  13. Why don't you try 'women in politics'. 'women in science and technology'.
  14. Oh, plenty of reasons: Children are trained from a very young age to compete in these pageants and they rate their self worth on their looks, As they grow up and mature, they may lose their looks and end up in a tremendous downfall resulting in eating disorders and body image problems. Young girls are sexualized while being groomed for competitions in beauty pageants, resulting in emotional and mental development problems. It is a terribly offensive business by parading women on stage to be judged solely on their looks with a few psuedo intellectual questions. The fact is whoever has the most flawless beauty wins the prize. These pageants do absolutely nothing to move women forward and does more harm than good when women are fighting to obtain equal pay for equal work, reduce domestic violence etc. The pageants continue to objectify women and promote men as patriarchy.
  15. The point is and I think this is what most people here are missing, is that women cannot find this forum by searching on google etc unless we reach out to them with specific topics which must include headings that are directed towards women. That is the reality of search engines. This is nothing new.
  16. When a woman responds to issues that affect women and most of the respondents are men, there is a tendency to belittle their arguments and even label them as 'radical feminists', 'over-reacting', 'creating a distance between men and women' etc. Just take a look at the comments about women in the beauty pageant or some of the status update comments regarding women or the thread about 'Linda Griffith' or links to videos of violence toward women. Do the men on this forum think that women here have no feelings when our thoughts and reasoning are treated lightly or treated with disdain and we are ridiculed about womens issues. When I mentioned creating new categories for topics such as 'women in science and technology', my thought was that these type of subheadings and responses would be crawled by the search engines and in turn be discovered by women searching for topics such as 'women in technology' or 'women in politics'. I see no reason why this forum should not include more women. There are great topics being discussed and if we can attract women by whatever means, what is the harm in that? And it would be great to debate topics with other women on women's issues. Unless of course, this forum should be left to the men.
  17. I am sick n tired of bs ticket holders. Do you have any understanding of how grotesque this sounds?
  18. not really, especially if you have never heard of her. Save your stuffy bs.
  19. Wonderful, thank you. She was an incredible actress and writer.
  20. Let's recognize Linda Griffiths.
