You have no proof of economic, diplomatic turmoil and higher taxes. Perhaps they are willing to withstand the number of years (and no one really knows how many) of uncertainty. That is truly up to them. and perhaps it is a better solution for them.

CRTC's past mission was not so much to protect 'canadian culture' but rather to promote 'canadian culture' and canadian artists. There is a big difference between the two.
I recall in grade 6 being hit across the palm of my hand with a ruler in front of the entire class because I laughed out loud at a fellow student's joke. Apparently the teacher thought he would make a good example of a petite female student. I was horrified and I still recall it to this day. Not sure what discipline it instilled in me. I am still trying to figure it out. Perhaps it encouraged me to appreciate humour even more.
So why wouldn't we have followed the OJ trial just as much as any other country. The OJ trial was covered by the international media. If we didn't follow it, that would mean we lived in the backwoods wouldn't it?
