  3. Trans people are accepted by the vast majority of conservatives. What's not accepted is: parents being excluded from conversations that other adults are having with their children about trans therapy biological men competing against women men dressing up in sexual outfits to read to children men going into little girls' changerooms None of those things are "accepted", nor should they be, and there's nothing immoral or unfair about the reasoning behind not accepting them.

  4. No. Justifying a murder is calling for violence. Just like those that lamented that the Trump's shooter didn't do better were supporting more attempts. The CEO may not have been a good person in your view, but he wasn't a theocratic dictator that committed thousands and thousand of autrocities and sought extermination of people because of their religion.

  5. Get a load of this... The Dems are all mad at Biden now because Kamala lost. The other day James Carville went off on a rant saying: "If Biden would have said that he wasn't going to run back in 2023 then the Dems could have had a proper primary, and there would be naming commissions deciding what streets, parks, etc to name after him". They're not mad that wars broke out all over the world. They're not mad that ten million plus illegals came across Biden's weak border and it's costing the US tens of billions of dollars. They're not mad that he screwed the economy and Americans spent the last 3 years facing economic hardship. They're mad because the Demis lost power. They literally screwed the country six ways from Sunday for the past 3 years and James Carville is only upset because the Dems lost power. It's almost treasonous when you really think about it. The suffering of American people doesn't matter at all to him, the massive failures of his country mean nothing to him, all the wars and the hate mongering mean nothing to him, the ONLY thing that matters to him is that after all that mismanagement, his buddies didn't get to stay in power. Was he the teleprompter guy? Is that why he's mad? Was he the one pulling Joe's strings, and then he was Kamala's teleprompter guy for the first 80 days of her campaign, and now he's no longer in control? After all, he's the only person that I've ever heard talking about "naming commissions" for worthless Joe Biden - the worst US president ever. No one else thinks Joe did a good job, except for him. Un-effing-believable. What a G-d loser Carville is.

  6. In its original usage, woke simply meant being aware of societal injustice of any kind. The fascists see woke as anything that would improve the lives of ordinary people in society. They are especially triggered into an emotional frenzy by any topic pertaining to race and gender.

  13. Yup. It also encompasses the twits who think they can warp gender...think the world has a climate crisis...insist tens of millions of refugees are worth having...that police need to be defunded or re-imagined...that it's rape when some social-light slut invites you into a woman's dressing room for a nice grope... In other words...stupid Tweenkies.

  17. Canadians and Americans certainly look at guns differently. The great majority of Canadians have no emotional attachment to guns, don't own and have no desire to own them. Gun ownership is a privilege like a driver's licence, not a right and it is generally thought that the only people needing them are hunters and farmers and neither of them need semi auto weapons or handguns. The idea of using them for self defence is foreign to them and indeed, if they are stored legally would be useless. No home invader is going to wait until you remove your gun from a safe and load it. Carrying one is out of the question, even our police officers aren't armed when they are off duty. Does our government use bans as a cynical wedge issue? Absolutely. The first ban and buy back was announced right after the Portapique massacre in spite of the fact the shooter's guns had been obtained illegally in the US from a seller who had bought them legally. The ban would have done nothing to stop that shooting. The newest ban was announced on the 35th anniversary of the Ecole Polytechnique shooting even though that gun had been banned previously. Has the government been incompetent when it comes to the bans and buy back? You bet. As you point out, years have passed and millions spent without a single gun being bought back. After the Christchurch massacre, the New Zealand government announced a ban and buy back within weeks and completed it in six months. Do stiffer gun laws work? Yes, to a point but this government has gone overboard. Our gun laws were already a good compromise between ownership and public safety before the Portapique shootings. Do bans work? Depends. They have worked in Australia and New Zealand. In fact the Christchurch shooter was an Australian who decided to target New Zealand because the gun he used was readily available in NZ but banned in Australia. However, both of them are island nations which have far better control over what enters the country. They will be much less effective in a country that shares a 5000 mile undefended border with the gun happiest country on the planet, because these guns will always be available to those who really want them. Barring some sort of miracle, the Trudeau government will be gone by next fall and it will be interesting to see what happens to the bans and buy back with a new government.

  20. Rittenhouse clearly acted in self defence. The first dude had done 10 years in prison for molesting two children, and was chasing him down, and lunged at him. Rittenhouse fired in self defence. When the mob began chasing him, he stumbled after a man threw a punch that grazed him. A tall black dude then attempted a flying kick, but did not follow through, as Rittenhouse had fired a warning shot in the air. At that point, a man rushed at him, and attempted to hit him on the heard with his skateboard. Rittenhouse shot him in the chest, and the man died instantly. Finally a man with a glock, tried to rush in and shoot Rittenhouse. He shot off the man's bicep, incapacitating him. It was marksmanship that would have made an infantry leader proud. He deserved to be acquitted.

  30. There is a very simple way to come up with the money. Tax billionaires and rich corporations, like 30 years ago. The continuous tax breaks for the ultra rich and big corporations has been ongoing for decades, and has only accelerated under the former Trump Administration. Why cut health care, social security, or pensions?

  34. I agree that was f'd up, because the leftists call everyone Nazis. If actual Nazis were punched in the face as a result of that, I wouldn't give a shit. The biggest problem I have with that is that leftists are pretty close to being Nazis themselves. If they were being honest, and punching fascists in the face, the DNC would look like fight club. "There, but for the grace of God, go I." Honestly, if you had health insurance, and your wife or kid was denied a legitimate claim and ended up dying as a result, wouldn't you think of doing exactly what he just did? Maybe you wouldn't, but put 10 people in that spot, does 1 do it? Put 100 people in that spot, does 1 do it? Put 1,000 people in that spot, does 1 do it? It's simply a numbers game: screw enough people over, probably die. Accountability is simply not coming for some people. The Sackler family are still millions of dollars ahead after all the people they killed. We're kidding ourselves if we think that the Sacklers and Thompsons of the world can walk the streets in relative safety, and I wouldn't waste a dollar protecting them. They made enough money from the suffering of others, they should pay for their own protection.

  35. Sort of, but it's not what you think. Calling for violence is justifying the future use of violence, and saying that what happened is ok is 'justifying the past use of violence', which is in turn justifying the future use of violence. Get it? By justifying the murder of this CEO you're justifying the murder of the next CEO. The only way that you were technically correct is that in the second instance you just said "viewing" a violent act as justice, which implies thinking it but not saying it out loud in any way, shape or form.

  38. Presidential powers have been expanding beyond the consitution for 240 years. The "Conservatives" are adhering so closely to having the government do less that they seem willing to permanently hand the power of the purse over to one person. Trump has been setting the stage for fight over radically expanded impoundment powers. So that laws and funding Congress pass would basically be optional by the president and he could use that money for other purposes. It's tough to imagine that even republicans in Congress would go along with their institutions core powers being stripped away.

The relevance of that topic seems low to me. Don't be offended. If you want to start a thread on Syrian refugees, go ahead. I might comment I might not. I'm sorry you're offended. You shouldn't look for my approval on anything. Just be yourself. Have a great day

While he does have a point that there's a lot of fat in large organizations, mass firings means you end up with people who can't get a job elsewhere, or self-hating human pigeons.... The "chained to the desK' life is a dead end and it takes exactly 1 negative career event for people to learn that. I learned mine, and my career is now going great without me killing myself... The best was firing people that he had to hire right back. ( I worked for a company that did that in the 80s. )

  48. Interestingly enough, I agree with @Michael Hardner. Celebrating the assassination of this guy is sick. His job was to make profit for the shareholders. Apparently he was quite good at his job. My job is to design new financial IT systems. Should someone lose money on their investments while using a system I designed, should I be shot? The problem is not, and never will be the heads of health insurance companies. The problem is the health insurance industry as a whole and the lack of government oversight/involvement in said industry. Should US healthcare be nationalized? There are good arguments both for and against this. Its a question we are not gonna solve here. But to celebrate this murder is...distasteful...to say the least.
