  2. This is what CBC has reduced itself to. Political hackery and British TV. Ya know...had they not squandered Hockey Night in Canada, they'd still be viable. Now...they should be arrested for television vagrancy.

  3. I didn't know it was this bad: $1.2B/year and absolutely nothing to show for it aside from a one-party news channel. I didn't even know about the latest $100M rase that Trudeau gave them 'til I read this article. He gave them a $675M/yr raise right after he was first elected, so they're up $775M/yr since he's been PM. Plus he gave the $600M to "select news outlets" for accurate election coverage in 2019, and $61M to top secret news outlets for more "accurate election coverage" in 2021. I never knew that 'accurate election coverage' was so expensive until Trudeau came along and started throwing massive wads of $1,000 bills around.

  4. NOpe. YOU are the racist. You are the one who called those animals HISPANICS. You're the imbecile who brought race into this. I judge them on their actions. You judge them only on their race.

  5. That's sure a polite way of putting it. The PMO pressured the AG to grant the deferral and the only reason SNC didn't get it is because the AG blew the whistle on it. Thank goodness for them but we shouldn't have to rely on whistle-blowers to protect the public's interest.

  6. Actual number 10,500 https://www.frontpagemag.com/biden-claimed-he-created-1-million-jobs-actual-number-10500/ Biden Claimed He Created 1 Million Jobs. Actual Number, 10,500 Come on, man. What's a little rounding error between friends? I will say this: His incredibly stupid electric car mandate will DEFINITELY create a few million jobs, on the other side of the world. https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/press-release/2016/09/electric-cars-running-on-child-labour/ And you wonder why everyone says Unelected Joe is the worst and most unpopular president in American history.

  7. The evidence is the biased coverage. My boss pays me to do what he asks and not bad-mouth him to people. If I don't do those things, he won't pay me and I lose my job. How hard is this to understand?

  8. Exactly what happens in banana republic dictatorships. Which is why so many immigrants are becoming alarmed. They recognize the "buying of the media" as one of the most important steps towards totalitarianism.

  9. The PMO gave hundreds of millions of dollars to CBC and other "select media outlets" over the last 3 elections. You do the math. You look for some kind of pattern there. Do you need to sit in the editorial room of a media outlet after you establish a pattern of giving them massive gobs of money for "accurate" election coverage? Do you need to personally handle their HR decisions for them at that point, or do they know what to do? If I pay someone a few million every 6 months to post here, do you think they'll agree with what I say? Do you think I'd need to editorialize their posts after that? Most people can see the writing on the wall here. The fact that you're pretending not to notice isn't an indication that there's "nothing to see here", it's a reflection on your level of intelligence and/or integrity.

  11. For sure, I've been involved in local politics all my life. I know a small handful of people who've gone on to become MLAs, MPs and even a cabinet minister. Poor analogy because sports usually come with referees. OTOH under my suggestions it would be a very apt analogy because then we would have process guardians protecting the integrity of the game. And this is entirely our fault you say? I'm quite certain politicians would agree with you. I'm not holding my breath.

  12. The PMO is not allowed to direct the AG. This was a case of inexperience in the PMO. It was inappropriate and the AG told them so. The publicity did not cause the denial of the deferred prosecution. It did cause the government to lose their majority. If the opposition posed a viable alternative, the government would have been defeated. Had Ms. Ambrose been leader of the opposition, Prime Minister Trudeau would have been trounced in the election.

  13. The very uppermost echelon of government really has no idea of what is needed, how it is done and only the outcome. And even the outcome is not known to them unless there is some kind of questioning. The government is a machine that is regulated and works under rules and regulations that all previous governments have set. As one procurement officer once said to me, they do not care what they are buying, toilet paper to airplanes, the process is in place and is followed the same. If you want to know how it is done, get the Supply manual here https://buyandsell.gc.ca/policy-and-guidelines/Supply-Manual If you really want to know the process and to see actually how transparent it is find out here. https://buyandsell.gc.ca/policy-and-guidelines/supply-manual/section/1/10 The thing is though, you do not want to know and will not take the time to find out the actual way things have to be done because then many of you would not have anything to complain about.

  14. SNC Lavalin did not get the deferred prosecution because the AG did not pass the request on to the prosecutor. The publicity about it did not occur until long after the request was denied. Whistleblowing had nothing to do with it. The AG performed her role correctly. SNC Lavalin would not have received a deferred prosecution regardless of any publicity. That is a bit incoherent. We are a Constitutional Monarchy with a parliamentary system. How do you not get that? What is a "virtual" King?

  16. I'm not so sure about that. The racist limousine liberals in Martha's Vineyard were quick to ship those animals to another spot, even though they had millions of dollars and could have taken those animals in. Don't depend on a left winger goose stepper to do the right thing.

  17. quote Protection In eight years, BC has doubled its protected areas to 13.8 percent of the province – one of the highest percentages in North America. BC’s protected areas are larger than all of the forest area ever logged in the forest. BC’s protected areas total 11.7 million hectares (29 million acres). A total of about 9.4 million hectares (23.2 million acres) of the province’s forested area has been logged over time (5.6 million hectares or 13.8 million acres are forests). BC’s protected areas size comparisons: Same size as the Cuba The same size as either the United Kingdom or Romania Three times the size of Switzerland Same size as Louisiana or Pennsylvania Larger than the size of Kansas 2/3 the size of Washington State Amount of Trees BC is 95 million hectares (235 million acres) in size (about double the size of California). Almost 64% of the province – about 60.3 million hectares (149 million acres) – is forested. Less than one-third of one percent of BC’s forest land is harvested annually. Only 42% (25 million hectares or 62 million acres) of BC’s provincially owned forests are available for logging. 58% percent of BC’s forests (35 million hectares or 86 million acres) will remain as original forests. How large is that? Almost as large as California (which is 100 million acres) and considerably larger than Nevada (70.3 million acres). Original forests are areas that have never been logged or reforested. Original forests include parks; protected areas; areas unsuitable for logging; reserves around streams, lakes, and wetlands; and environmentally sensitive areas. There are more forests growing in North America today than on the first Earth Day in 1973 (Canadian Wood Council). unquote BC Forest Facts | Canada's Log People (en_ca) (canadaslogpeople.com)

  18. You do understand that all they have to do is ban or censor some doctors, boot them off forums for discussing adverse events and how to help patients, take away their license to practice medicine and it sends a very strong message to the rest - don't say anything. Good gawd, California is trying to make it LAW that doctors NOT inform patients of SAE following the jabbers. Is this what you want from your doctor? Too afraid of losing his license to inform you properly? Is this what you want from your government? If it's YOU in Shopper's Drug Mart dropping dead minutes after yet another booster, do you want your family silenced, do you want public health to not investigate? Do you want the government to ignore it and force others to do the same?

  19. Yah you go, Kari, make sure the world knows the States is no better than any banana republic. Weaken the States as much as possible, cause the world is tired of democracy, tired of the States showing the world how freedom works.

  20. I don't think that's the argument. The argument is that the widespread conspiracy you claim is unlikely given the many organizations, countries and individuals that would have to be involved. More seriously, some of your concerns are valid and some sources you provide are worth considering. It's the hyperbole along with many of your much less credible sources that removes you from the sphere of believable to the sphere of nutcase.

  21. Sorry, my error. I mistakenly quoted you rather than Eyeball. The transparency and accountability stuff is in response to Myata. Where I really messed up was forgetting about the WE affair. At the time the contracts were made, I could not imagine any group better suited to the project than WE. Even I make mistakes sometimes.

  22. Canada does not work for the west. It's all about Quebec, and GTA. Afraid to wean yourself off the government teat paid for largely by Alberta, or is it your and Quebec's greed that keeps you hanging around like a bad smell?

  23. No, no... food prices are going up only 7% a year, haven't you watched the news? That's why they f***ing DOUBLE every week. Don't you know official gov't math? They use a 1956 food basket, of things like milk, bread, eggs and stuff nobody eats or buys anymore and every store on the planet has to sell competitively. Don't your teenage kids sit at the breakfast table scrubbed and beaming awaiting their breakfast of rolled oats or gruel? Hard boiled eggs with white margarine? Sardines & crackers for lunch? And happy husbands come home to light up a pipe and await your tuna chip casseroles or Spam and jello salad? Mystery meatloafs? Mmmmmm! I mean Good Lord, I see chicken necks and backs in the store for $8 pkg, stuff we used to buy for crab bait for 69c when the kids were little.

  24. Yes and it bothers me that somehow the left has aligned itself with Iran/Shia and the right has aligned itself with Saudi Arabia/Sunni. Both regimes are bad news but we make ourselves more dependent on bad regimes when we refuse to make ourselves energy independent, even when Canada could be an energy superpower. The softness on Iran has to end. Theocracies are bad news because it’s inevitable for a political leader in such a setup to claim to know the thoughts of God. It doesn’t matter whether the leadership claims to be a descendant of the Prophet or have some special access to the Truth. The political leader is just a person and must be accountable to the people he leads.

  25. I couldn't disagree more. 1. For starters you can have an Earth without Canada but not the other way around. 2. Canada's contribution to climate change is huge. A modern country as wealthy as Canada should not be setting the example for how to dither, equivocate and make excuses for inaction. 3. The Earth needs a leader like never before. Trudeau is not it.

  26. While the Earth is important, this Country is far more important. While the climate crisis is an issue, Canadas contribution to climate crisis is a pimple on a horses butt. We need a leader for Canada, not for Earth (as Trudeau is trying to be) and the Greenies are too single minded.

  27. This is fair criticism, but then it's also dumb to fall on your sword for symbolic gestures while accomplishing little/nothing. We've seen the results of green politics gone awry in Ontario and too much of today's climate action is worthless posturing and marketing. From the carbon offset scams to overpriced and non-viable energy infrastructure being rushed to market, we can actually do more harm than good implementing bad schemes than nothing at all. You're not from Ontario, but the Liberal Green energy initiative here was an unmitigated disaster, and did nothing but move money around in the form of subsidies (lining certain people's pockets), whilst making energy far more expensive than ever. You'd probably not be surprised to know Gerald Butts was one of the architects of his catastrophe, but aside from phasing out coal (a good thing), he and his pals made the word "green energy" a bogeyman in Ontario for years to come. On that you'd probably have 95% of the forum agree with you.

  28. I disagree with all your points. Canada has to fix it's own house before anything else. It is about time we take care of ourselves. The earth will not even notice the minuscule amount Canada contributes to climate change. Canada needs a leader.
