  1. And that's a tragedy, in its own way. I sense a growing antipathy for natives where I am. I've see nothing in the media to support that, but then, the media doesn't like to dwell on things like that. But almost everyone I know has a sneer whenever the topic of natives comes up, and most of the people I know aren't very conservative. Even people I barely know are bitching about natives, from the Black taxi driver last week, to the Lebanese Canadian contractor I met yesterday. There are two unpopular thoughts about natives. The first, of course, is they're welfare bums and criminals, drunkards, drug abusers and prostitutes. They don't work. They don't want to work. Their reserves are a mess because they can't maintain anything and trash their houses and their leaders are self-serving crooks. That's been a longstanding but growing belief. Lately, as the economy has soured I've been hearing another much angrier complaint. Wherever there's economic development proposed for outside a city, whether it's forestry, a new mine, oil drilling or exploration, a pipeline, a ski resort, anything at all, there you'll find natives howling and protesting and suing to try and slow it down or stop it. That's got a lot more anger than the first complaint. The problem is both complaints have a lot of truth to them. The miserable plight of natives is due to the application of centuries old agreements which make no sense any longer. They're a drag on Canada's economy, and they're most definitely not in the interest of Canada or natives - except of course, the chiefs. The Indian Act needs to be torn up. Economically unsustainable reserves need to be closed down. Natives need to become better integrated with Canada. This country is almost 150 years old. It's not going away. It's time for natives to realize they can't live anything approaching a modern life with any sort of satisfaction and purpose while squatting out in the bush waiting for their monthly cheques. I'm all for giving them lots of help. education and job training, as well as buying them houses to live in, but this grinding, neverending mess has to stop, because ordinary Canadians (not the political or media classes of course) are becoming more and more fed up with the status quo and want things fixed. Their anger is growing, and its misdirected towards natives as a whole, when it should be directed against the elites, both ours and theirs, who keep tinkering and kicking the can down the road.

  2. I know that area, and you just have to look at the history to understand what happened. They were imported into Upper Canada with the Loyalists and lived beside us as we grew into a nation unlike the western tribes.

  4. In BC, ballots are only sent to registered voters. Each ballot is accounted for and the voter must provide their date of birth and signature when voting. Mass fraud would be just about impossible. A: A fraudster would have to get ahold of a bunch of genuine ballots. B: They would have to know the DoB of each voter C. None of those voters would have complained about not getting a ballot. No one claimed voting was fraudulent during the 2016 election. There were a lot of claims about foreign influence which have since been confirmed

  5. The natives had zero chance of defeating the British, nor did anyone else. Are you even aware most countries don't allow immigration except for exceptional circumstances? The idea China or anyone else would physically attack Canada for not allowing their people to immigrate is ludicrous.

  6. Trudeau's borg only allow questions from approved mainstream media that are under the control of the Liberal party. Every public appearance is very tightly controlled. This is not democracy but it is Marxism.

  7. None of policies and decisions with important consequences and impacts for the country are being discussed; explained; defended and validated. We just elect a majority government and it just makes them just watch it. Too bad. In this century, with the complexity of the environment both natural and social and international, this method from the epochs long gone is simply not good enough. And at some point, apologies and compensations may not be enough either. Like who gave us guarantees? Who gave them to the dinosaurs?

  8. I think equity in education means something like if a certain school in a certain low-income racialized area has poor student outcomes the board will target more resources to that school in order to help try to get those students to achieve typical achievement standards. I think the OP was poorly argued overall.

  11. Not only to fix the election, leaving no evidence and you guys powerless to stop it. But to do that against a sitting president---the most powerful man in the world. Leaving him wailing and crying for the next four years about how he was outsmarted by them. He even saw it coming a mile away and was completely powerless to even get anyone important to take him seriously. Even Bill Barr laughed and called it all bullshit. I realize you guys feel inferior, but I think those feelings are exaggerated. The Dems are not superhumans beyond your ken.

  14. Yes there are examples of Republicans getting harassed in public places. Steve Scalise? 14 Times Republican Officials Viciously Harassed, Threatened With Death (thefederalist.com) Waters Encourages Public Harassment of Trump Administration Officials: ‘Create a Crowd … Tell Them They’re Not Welcome’ (freebeacon.com) Democrats DID NOT hold Watters to account for her incendiary statements. Neither did the MSM. Violence is apparently acceptable if progressives are doing it.

  15. Ok so does that mean there isn't any actual evidence as in specific instructions to commit acts of violence? It seems that you're choosing to interpret his words as you see fit. A lot of politicians use rhetoric by the way. Here is what Joe Biden said two years ago in a speech at the University of Miami, speaking of Donald Trump: "I said, if we were in high school, I'd take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him." Now any reasonable person wouldn't take a comment like that too seriously, but it's just what politicians say in the heat of the moment. There are some real examples of politicians going way too far. How about Maxine Watters ? What pushback does she ever get from her incendiary public statements? Or does she get a pass because she's black and a Democrat? “Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up. And if you see anybody from that cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.” Maxine Watters

  16. I guess the point I'm trying to make is everyone should get to voice their opinion. Hillary Clinton claims to this day that the 2016 election was stolen from her and she has every right to make that claim. She has not been prevented from saying so and hasn't been censored on Facebook, Twitter or Youtube. Why the blatant double standard for Donald Trump with his similar concerns for the 2020 election? Why does the angry Democrat get to speak out on all social media platforms while the angry Republican get's censored?

  17. Can anyone say with 100% certainty that mail-in ballots are every bit as secure as in person voting? Were there no strange results in the 2020 election. Biden get's more ballots than any candidate in history, easily surpassing Obama's numbers, and yet the Democrats lost ground in the House. Biden is way more popular than Obama? Who knew that all along it was Obama riding Biden's coattails?? A statistically impossible election (publish0x.com) Voter Fraud Never Happens! (Except in These 10,000 Cases) - Ann Coulter If people are suspicious of the 2020 election, so what? What's the difference between saying the 2020 and 2016 elections were stolen. The election cannot be undone and everyone has to live with the results. It's not as though there has never been a single case of voter fraud in the US before. It's almost funny that Democrats have the ability to "find" more votes in close races they have apparently lost. I totally accept that Biden is President(at least in theory). I do think democracies should also strive to make elections more secure and I believe in person voting with ID is hard to beat.

  19. To some, natives are these quaint, cute sub-human people, like dolphins, say, or orcas, not really up to doing anything useful, but they really make for great pictures when they've got their feathers on and dance around fires. And that's how they should remain. Forever. Living museum pieces. To some, the idea they ought to be living in cities and wearing suits and ties and working as software engineers or teachers or store clerks like everyone else is anathema. No, no, no! What's of real importance is their retaining their 'culture' and unique identity! Conservatives want to get natives into the workforce as taxpayers. Liberals want to pat them on their heads, pinch their cheeks, and send them back to dance around the fire till the end of time.

  20. First, I agree with u to a certain point but lets look at their side. I wonder how they feel with the White Man promises, which seem never get done, are they fed up? It was the English and the French that gave them alcohol that started all this and what about the spread of small pox to kill off the FN. The French and English have done more to harm the FN than they to us. How many non-native bosses would hire them? If u don't like financial support and the Treaties, well can't do any thing about it. Canada took on the responsibly from Britain, so we have to honour them. We better learn to get along with everyone in Canada because we have more new people coming here to live and u may not like them either.
