  1. There will never be another President Trump. Say what you like about him, you are forced to never be able to put his memory out of your mind. And with the seismic shift back to the past, dyin' Biden, many across the US are being confronted with the reality of how good Trump's term was. They are growing tired of masks and then they see Biden not wearing them after signing mask mandates and saying things like, "we will lead by the power of our example!" I don't think the honeymoon will be very long. Even the rioters in Portland and Seattle hate him already. Which reminds me. Lets see how quickly the Dems go from condemning rioting and trying to impeach for it, to shrugging their shoulders at it while the businesses of voters burn. Somewhere Trump is saying, "Miss me yet?"

  2. A conservative doesn’t support politicians that support liberal policies. Just because a politician affects their fragile emotions. Put on your big boy pants and act like an adult, and properly separate policy from personality. Looks like your Biden support is already blowing up in your face. Good job dumbass. Trudeau expresses ‘disappointment’ over Keystone XL in 1st phone call with Biden https://globalnews.ca/news/7594940/trudeau-biden-chat-keystone-disappointment/ Thousands of Canadian jobs and thousands of Canadian wages are now threatened. Tax revenue to the federal government will also be affected. But at least you won’t be triggered by one of Trump’s tweets. Selfish prick.

  6. Joe Biden was inaugurated President, but I didn't watch the inauguration. I'm not a Joe Biden supporter. He didn't win because of me. I voted against him in both the primary and the election. I voted for Mike Bloomberg in the primary and Donald Trump in the election. I hope that Biden will be a one term President. I do not like Joe Biden. If this offends some readers, I apologize. But I have to be honest. I'm not a Joe Biden supporter.

  8. Often, and in my view, for a reason that is not so hard to trace, an entrenched tradition and practice of elitism that is, isolation in own perception and interpretation of the social reality plus unconditional entitlement (example: regardless of whatever is going on in the society I do something from home; obtain full pay and benefits; contributions to pension plan; and deduce that everyone's problem is finding the right lessons to stay positive in these difficult times etc yada). The question is about elitism and entitlement in public institutions and I'm not sure this discussion can be readily extended to capitalism in general or at least, the relation is more complex. Bezos made his billions in a free market from willing customers. It's his right to dispense with them, taxes paid, as he wishes. But what about "public" hospital CEO getting an $2M golden parachute? Is his entitlement the same as Bezos's? What is the connection between elitism and populism? Does the latter raise because elitism and entitlement are called what they are? And would it disappear if we just stopped calling it that, and stopped noticing it? That answer is already known: populism emerges and spreads because of disillusionment and disenfranchisement in democracy which are only exacerbated by repeated and often grotesque examples of the culture of elitism and entitlement. And so no, not a bad word causes bad people to behave badly; it's the example of inefficiency, carelessness combined with gross entitlement that cause people to lose faith in the democracy that is working for them, and the rest is only a direct and logical consequence.

  9. Scanning some of the news blurbs a little while back, I came across that CNN video you posted of their take on the Portland protests, and reading through the transcript, what jumped out at me is that CNN makes it ALL about RACE! As if Covid job losses, lockdowns, poverty, increasing homelessness etc. isn't part of the increasing radicalization that they find so inexplicable in Portland or Seattle and other dot.com bubble clusters that were supposed to lead the way to a bright new techno-driven future and solve all of our earthly problems....including climate change. So, when things go wrong, it seems like CNN and the shitlib journalists/narrative spinners they send out into the field very rarely, are tasked with making conflicts all about race, gender, new trans issues that maybe a room-full of people actually have to deal with, instead of mentioning the growing economic divide. And when MSM does let someone talk about debt and income inequality that's now couched as specifically race-bound, they are very careful never to mention the causes....just the symptoms! Nobody at the Times or CNN wants to tell their readers and viewers that these damn tech monopolies have even dislodged the major banks as the prime cause of concentration of wealth at the top. A couple of days ago, I heard Thomas Frank (used to be called upon all the time 10 years ago as an MSNBC pundit) mention that what he finds fascinating and disturbing about the 2020 Election is that the major corporations who had been buying politicians and political influence in both parties have all lined up consistently behind the Democrats! Trump and most of the other Republicans running for office were all but abandoned by the corporate donors they depend on......except for the dying oil and gas industries. Big Oil was the only major corporate sector still standing behind Republicans! But, the now 'cancelled' Thomas Frank's main concern to watch for are signs that the monied interests running everything are all lined up behind one party. If America didn't look like much of a democracy when only two parties were effectively allowed to compete, what will it be like as a one party state? As for Joe, I'm not surprised that one of his first job orders was to cancel the Keystone XL Pipeline that was supposed to transfer Dilbit down to Louisiana refineries. Right now, the braintrusts running the FAANGS and their investors think that windmills and solar panels are going to fill the space that carbon fuels have been doing since the start of the Industrial Revolution...and do it without any carbon footprint. I better not open that one up on this thread too, but the unsupported belief that these products produce energy with no carbon footprint is the biggest modern delusion of them all!

  11. So, let me get this straight. You were undeniably in the anti-Trump camp and now you're wanting to defend Joe Biden. Gee, Mr Conservative, one might almost start to doubt this idea that you're the world's greatest authority on what a Conservative is. The idea being you speak from the authority of being something you call an "authentic Conservative," perhaps the world's only authentic Conservative. One might start to doubt that.

  12. In what? He demonstrated month after month that he had no knowledge or understanding of ANYTHING other than maybe social media and how to offend people. He spent his days watching TV and tweeting. He did almost no work because he didn't like meetings on subjects that he didn't understand and he didn't understand any of what was going on. The only time he ever presided over a meeting was when there were cameras present or it was a short presentation of something. Nothing that happened in the way of legal or systemic changes to laws or regulations during his tenure originated with him. It all came from others, principally Mike Pence. Trump was a registered Democrat his whole life. He only switched over to Republican to run for office, which he didn't expect to win. You've already forgotten the tariffs he imposed on Canada, I take it? He only lifted the last ones because the retaliatory tariffs were going to hurt midwest voters in an election year.

  13. Complete nonsense. Trump was quite competent. Regardless, even an incompetent conservative is better than a competent liberal. Policy matters more than personality. An a-hole not taking an ax to the Canadian economy is much better than the opposite. It’s not rocket science.

  15. Trump understood this. He didn't know how to effectively use it to his advantage . . . . his responses were usually emotion based, reactionary, and far too many. This, combined with his personal image (needing a haircut, frequently frowning, etc.) worked against him. A well spoken presentable President would be foolish not to learn what's acceptable to the voting public.

  18. I wouldn't bother with Argus, Betsy. He's a mocker and a scoffer, and those do not listen to reason. They just listen to their own scoffing. Since this thread is concerning what the Bible is saying, here's what it says about mockers and scoffers. Acts 13:41 Behold, you despisers, marvel and perish! for I work a work in your days, A work which you will by no means believe, though one were to declare it to you. Proverbs 22:10 Cast out the scoffer, and contention will leave; yes, strife and reproach will cease. Proverbs 19:29 Judgments are prepared for scoffers, and blows for the back of fools. Proverbs 15:12 A scoffer does not love one who reproves him, he will not go to the wise. Isaiah 29:20 For the ruthless will come to an end and the scorner will be finished, indeed all who are intent on doing evil will be cut off; Proverbs 29:8 Scorners set a city aflame, but wise men turn away anger. Proverbs 9:8 Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you, reprove a wise man and he will love you. Isaiah 28:22 And now do not carry on as scoffers, or your fetters will be made stronger; for I have heard from the Lord God of hosts of decisive destruction on all the earth. From what I understand about the Bible, interacting with mockers and scoffers is of no benefit, in fact it can negatively affect our walk.

  20. Which one? Your posts tend to be full of drivel - I don't want to look it up - just give it here! You're so full of drama.........like it's a cliff-hanger or sumthin....what you don't realize is, it won't be hanging - it'll be plummeting! It'll get shot down, Argus. Your whole argument is based on ignorance. C'mon, Spit it out! I'll answer it! Btw, it better be a new one.....because I answered quite a few of your arguments in that post above. You better not give me something that's already been answered! YOU BETTER READ my previous post! This one: It depends on motivation, Argus. What motivates a person to do what he does - that's why only God can make those kind of judgements. Anyway, I'm reminded of Jesus teachings - one of which is that we have to depend on God. You don't worry too much about what tomorrow will bring...... Do Not Worry 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[e]? 28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. See? What you're promoting is "paganistic," if not socialist! School lunches? You're worried about school lunches???? What about people who can't even afford to have any food at all - and you worry about school lunches??? And, hunger is hunger, Argus - regardless of age! No one stops you of doing charitable works, Argus. In fact, someone being forced to give for charitable reason, is not charity. Charity has to come voluntarily. 2 Cor 9 Generosity Encouraged 6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.”[a] Matt 6 Giving to the Needy 6 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. College loans? Why does it matter so much about college loans? You must mean people MUST have high education (on the backs of other people to boot)....so they can land high-paying jobs that will enable them to buy all the material blitz this earthly and materialistic world has to offer! That's worldly concerns, Argus.......the very thing that Jesus wants us to discard! Here: 1 John 2 Do Not Love the World 15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life[a]—is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. So, get your mind off worldly stuffs! Stop promoting them! They're stumbling blocks. Anyway, you didn't mention that Trump will bring back VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS! That doesn't cost too much, and it will help a lot of people who are more inclined to vocational stuffs! You do know that Satan is said to be the "god" of this world, don't you? That's biblical, Argus. here, read this: https://www.gotquestions.org/Satan-god-world.html Everything that you've inaccurately accused Trump of saying, aren't against any of Jesus' teachings. You manipulated them to paint him the way you want him to look. Bearing false witness against your neighbor (Trump), is a violation of the 10 Commandments. Jesus will see in Trump's heart what really motivates him to do all that. And, you've been lying! Jesus would see thru that, too. Satan tempts us with worldly things, and he's the master of deceptions and lies. Worldly concerns - a stumbling block for so many of us, deceptions and lies in your allegations against Trump. That's why I imagine Jesus would be saying to you...... GET THEE BEHIND ME, SATAN! You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.

  28. Well what is the word on the street, what excuses are the liberals coming up with now... How many gaffs does this man have to make before one of those leftist wingnuts open their eyes and say this is the last straw. Someone should be writing all these excuses done and but it in book form. You could call it how "gullible is the average liberal" It is getting to the point it is rather embarrassing, and we wonder why we as a nation can not be taken seriously. Mean while in the news Justin has said the process was flawed, but it was Justin that change that policy you know the one put in place by the cons, where the GG would be chosen by a board made up of the main parties.... I mean what a shitty democratic policy right, it reeks of fairness, but because it came from the right it was full of shit.

Current circumstances and stressors just serve to highlight pre-existing conflict(s) and dissatisfaction, and are not unique to Canada. What is new are the media tools and abilities for groups to organize better along ideological and populist lines without the gatekeepers of old. "Democracy" was never a clean sport.
