  3. This story has nothing and everything to do with Canada. It's about China's over the top response when the general manager of the Houston Rockets tweeted out a simple little support emoji for the people of Hong Kong. Most people probably aren't aware of it but the NBA has been courting China. Basketball is popular there, and the NBA sells a lot of merchandise. NBA games are on Chinese TV, and there are cooperative agreements with the Chinese' favorite teams, like the Houston Rockets. The NBA even plays exhibition games over there. This is an agreement that involves hundreds of millions of dollars. But one tweet from one GM and China, as China does, went overboard, just as it did on Canada. It condemned the tweet, removed all the Houston Rockets merchandise from sale in China or on Chinese web sites, cancelled their cooperation agreement with the Rockets, and cancelled their coverage of the NBA pre-season games. In addition, all the NBA's Chinese business partners have no cut ties with the NBA. The article cited links to others which demonstrate China's bizarre sense of victimhood (hello Donald Trump), and the way their government stokes that sense of victimhood and outrage at any sort of 'humiliation' by foreigners. No matter how slight, the Chinese government blows it up into a huge incident, demanding apologies and promises to never again dare to offend them. And this is so routine there that you can easily see how they're able to cow other companies and countries into silence because even the slightest criticism brings the threat of massive retaliation. Which means that those people who think that all Canada has to do is extradite Meng Wanzhou to the US and things will get back to normal are engaging in wishful thinking. It is clear that the only relationship China accepts, with foreign companies or foreign countries is one of meek servility. Even without the extradition case, even if we decided to send her back to China instead, all future relationships with China, even with some sort of signed trade agreements, will be contingent upon Canada keeping its mouth shut about Chinese human rights abuses and its militant behavior towards other countries, and meekly accepting whatever insults and violations of that agreement the Chinese decide to issue and make. And yet Trudeau, and to some degree, Scheer, still seem to be under the illusion that if they just flatter and cajole the Chinese, and don't respond to their numerous insults directed at Canada, we can somehow 'mend' our relationship and then move on to ever greater trade. China's behaviour says otherwise. You either stand up to China, or act like China's bitch. It seems clear that Trudeau is quite happy to be China's bitch. I don't think the rest of Canada agrees. https://www.cnbc.com/2019/10/08/chinas-reaction-to-the-nba-is-the-wake-up-call-the-world-needed.html https://www.cnbc.com/2019/10/09/nearly-all-of-the-nbas-chinese-partners-have-cut-ties-with-the-league.html

  7. Wishful thinking. It's not hard to tell as to who's side you want to win and what leftist liberal news channels that you are listening too. I will predict that it will be Trump with way more than what is needed to win the election. I hope that I did not burst your Biden bubble mentioning that? Go, Trump, go.

  12. Wildly improbable...like Hunter Biden sleeping with underage girls while cracking it up? Or like Hunter kicking 10% up to the Big Guy? Or Joe Biden getting prosecutors fired in order to protect his criminal ventures? Those sort of improbable things?

  13. My guess is Biden 290 Trump 248, Joe will miraculously squeak out victories in key swing states due to a decisive edge in mail-in ballots. Biden won't cross the 269 threshold until the day after the election and the full tally will come in days later. Biden will have a +20% edge in the popular vote on mail-in ballots and a 3% edge at the polling stations.

  17. I know. Said so to my kids the other day, shaking my head in disbelief. As bizarre as it may seem, it is one of the few rational explanations for what we are seeing today. Even if not done with intent, there's no denying political manipulation in virus messaging, much of it specifically for the purpose to defeat Trump. And if Hardener et al disagree, I can even quote the very words of the late great, zombie Joe Biden to prove it for ya.

  18. When I put on my rational-hat I think that way. But I've been wrong before. If Trump wins, I'll be rather surprised but not shocked, and will prove the deep state is real. If Joe Biden, I'll be rather disappointed but not shocked, and will prove the deep state is real.

  19. I think the most ominous story in this election year is how the mainstream media outlets are totally censoring the Biden laptop story and it's clear implications of corruption in that family.CNN,MSNBC,ABC,NBC,CBS and the rest had very little credibility to begin with but now they have absolutely none. Not so different from the so-called media in Communist China and the former USSR. Most journalists are the lowest of the low.

  20. What exactly has Trump done that can be considered authoritarian ? As far as I know he hasn't weaponized any Federal agencies against his opponents unlike Obama. Has he spied on his political rivals without any valid reason? He isn't trying to change the system to permanently favor the Republicans.

  29. I cant see Trump wanting any of that to continue. US banned Huawei, Trump deserves some credit for that. Re Chinese students and researchers- A big problem worldwide. Canada like most countries is rampant with technology theft but we do nothing. At least Trump gives that issue a voice. Hes the only one whos willing to put a stop to the mad leftist machine before it takes us all over a cliff along with it. Whatever it is you dont like about him, you need to put that aside and be more practical. After all, this is politics. Timely news. Link

  30. We live in a liberal society where it would appear as though the victim was the problem. The victim should have stayed at home that day. That is how I see things going on here in liberal justice Canada. There is no way that this criminal woman should be allowed to get away with murder. She has no regard for other people's lives nor the law. She is actually giving the finger to society. WTF is right.
