  1. Watched the Conservatives' press con this morning. An email by a senior public servant described the recent WE program as a "shit show!" Indeed, only a truly concerned public servant would be so bold as to speak his mind with disregard for the repercussions against him. All those redacted emails - I'm so concerned that Trudeau will take advantage of the Covid, and use "rebuilding the economy," as an excuse to dole out taxpayers' money, and sole-source contracts to his cronies. We are so like the third world countries now in regards to blatant corruption! I would like to have a fall election. However, even if the Conservatives and PQ are on the same page about bringing down this government, the two of them won't be enough. They need to have the NDP on board. I don't think Jagmeet Singh will want to have an election.....so, he's likely to be the one to prop up Trudeau (of course, in exchange for something). With what we're seeing......any party leader who tries to prop up this government, would be as corrupt! Or, he doesn't really care. Whether your party is financially prepared for an election or not, whether you're up n the polls or not........... ...........................what's in the best interest of the country should come first. The longer this government sits in power, the deeper we get into a massive debt which the future generation will have to shoulder. Do you want a fall election? Your thoughts.

  3. 1917: Finance minister Sir Thomas White introduced “temporary” corporate and personal income taxes to finance the war effort. 1943: Finance minister J.L. Ilsley introduced “pay as you earn” measure, where employers deduct employees’ projected taxes from their paycheques. The rest is history...up up up.....

  4. I think, Justin has had his chances and has proven not to be the man for the job...as for Freeland, she did alright with NAFTA, not much had changed in the agreement much to trumps dismay, but in the long run it was not a win, perhaps more of a tie, trump got his dairy and cheese, we got to keep most things the same...and everyone on both sides of the border paid for the aluminum and steel tariffs .... As for Mackay, he is not my favorite either, but we need change, and I'm hoping that comes in the form of a conservatives government.

  5. Yes it is open to all Canadians, but access to large sums of money and the ability to raise large sums of money, is what weeds out most Canadians, .... thats the major qualifier being a wealthy Canadian with lots of rich friends... Come on the sock thing is real and is documented in all forms of the media, in fact even by other leaders across the globe...you can't take away the sock thing...leave us something...

  6. What else is on his work resume besides teacher? He acted in a mini-series for CBC in 2007. He attended engineering school for a couple of years but dropped out, and has an undergrad degree in literature. He has no qualifications to be an MP, cabinet minister, or PM besides his last name. Pierre was a lawyer, Mulroney was a lawyer, Chretien was a lawyer, Paul Martin was a lawyer. These things come in handy when you're proposing, drafting, interpreting, and implementing laws. Harper had a masters in economics. Pearson had a masters in history from Oxford University and taught it in university, had a career in the public service & as a diplomat, and had a hand in founding the UN and NATO and almost became the 1st Secretary General of the UN before being PM. Justin's dad is Pierre.

  7. I think society favours men and women in different situations. It doesn't have to be a competition of victimhood.

  8. He actually made a campaign promised not to prorogue, he didn't just march against it as an MP. Harper was trying to avoid defeat, but Trudeau is trying to prevent Canadians from learning the truth about how pervasive the this scandal really is, that along with his own family’s clear conflict of interest. All you need to know about Trudeau Prorogation. "We need to prorogue Parliament" "But Parliament already is shut down" "But not the Committee investigating our corruption" "Good Point"

  9. Not really. I feel like there is enough going on, I don't want to deal with political campaigns. I also want some time to get to know the Conservative leader to decide if I could support them. If there were an election this fall, should it be entirely voting by mail, or in-person as usual?

  10. Just what the world needs again. Another leftist liberal secretary general of OECD. As if we the people do not have enough leftist liberal buffoons running this world already. No trade off. Just liberals looking after and helping other liberals keep their control of politics and the world. Those leftist liberals do not fight and argue among each other. They stick together like glue. Conservatives???

  11. Yes, ok - women are more intelligent. Also better negotiators, financial traders and leaders. But do not fear, boys - you've got us girls beat in finding your way and eye-hand coordination.

  12. I will say that the Prime Minister exhibits difficulty working with women. He talks a good feminist game but when she stands up to him, he tends to lose his rag. I just don't like his hypocracy. I grew up under the marxist regime of W.A.C. Bennett in BC so corruption is nothing new to me. It is just part of life.

  13. JT was also elected to his position. Was Howard Greene a diplomat? Were Doug Harkness or Peter MacKay Generals? How were they qualified? As for women being more intelligent, it must be true because my wife says it is. Let's get confirmation from Betsy, Bush-Cheney and Dialamah.

  14. Yes, I generally agree. Maybe I've just gotten to such a jaded place, I see them all as bad but to different degrees. I see the whole media dialogue is pretty shrill and generally stupid, meant to appeal to the stupid. I see his enemies have done a lot to contribute to dividing, their own country. These people have put politics above themselves. Politicos uber alles...

  15. Those are good skills. I think the most important are analytical decision-making and ethics. I think JT is average at the former and not good at the latter. I think he's used to doing things a certain way as a wealthy celebrity and he doesn't realize you can do them as a public servant. Every MP and public servant has to read the conflict of interest stipulations when they're hired and sign off on it. I guarantee he didn't read it or at least pay attention & take it seriously when he signed it, he probably just had a whole bunch of papers pushed in front of him and just signed on the line. Besides giving everyone a ton of money I don't see how he handled the pandemic that well. All of his early decisions were horrendous & cost lives. He very was slow to close borders, travel screening was non-existent, we gave away tons of PPE to China in Feb., he let his wife travel overseas In March & get COVID, he let Dr. Tam & the WHO give him horrendously bad advice, you have the WE program scandal, his Finance Minister left, & he had press conferences everyday but managed to avoid answering the vast majority of the questions. Oh and on Easter weekend he told everyone to stay home then drove to his cottage to spend time with family. He's an entitled piece of s*** who thinks the rules don't apply to him.

  16. 1) What you lack is called empathy. Some people had a lifelong dream, saved money, started a business, created jobs in the local economy, and lost it all to covid. All their savings, their dreams, everything. Maybe their houses too. It takes a disgusting, pathetic sub-human to suggest that they’re just greedy people, this implying that loss is no big deal, or might actually be a good thing Just because the homes and businesses being burned to the ground and the jobs lost aren’t yours shouldn’t make it ok to you. 2) History is not your strong suit. 3) Speak for yourself, and sheep is the word you’re looking for.

  17. For sure, but strictly speaking there's no training for being PM, or even a politician. In my opinion, the two most important skills are being a people person and having thick skin. No one person can possibly know everything they need to know to successfully run a country; they are guided by experts in whatever areas they're lacking. So someone's previous job experience hardly matters in this situation. I think JT has the two major skills needed to be a politician, but I also think he's a lazy thinker; how else could he find himself embroiled in three ethics breaches? I also suspect he doesn't tend to see things through and, were it not for the pandemic, I think we might have seen less of him as a leader, and more of someone biding their time till they're "retired", or in his case - voted out. I think he's well-intentioned enough, but something feels lacking, even giving him credit for how he's handled the pandemic. These are merely my observations, of course, and are as reliable as a Breitbart article - unless you agree with them, I suppose.

  19. I confess to not being too over-wrought by all this. Trudeau has been an adequate PM with Freeland being spectacular in the NAFTA talks and helping the Provincial Governments through the pandemic. If Mr. Trudeau had the best interests of his party and the country in his heart, he would have resigned, but he didn't. As to the election, I don't really care. Trudeau has an issue with believing hecan do no wrong and MacKay is unreliable. Inspite of that, he would also make an adequate PM.

  20. I'm a Leafs fan. I was disappointed they lost. But I can't really complain too much because they outplayed Columbus, but ran into a hot goalie. Tampa needed almost 90 shots on him in game 1 of their series to score 3 goals!

  21. Why would Canada or any country want him running the OECD? He obviously has financial serious issues breaching ethics and conflict of interest and he's not that great of a finance minister. I hope he loses. He can't run 1 countries finances but he wants to help manage the OECD??

  22. Remember when proroguing parliament was bad and a really big deal? Trudeau hypocrites are the worst. Btw, Bubber, keep avoiding the Trudeau corruption threads!

  23. It's getting harder to trust him? I stopped trusting him the day he first got elected knowing that a fired drama teacher cum ski board instructor was hardly the proper or competent resume' for leader of our country and so far I've been proven absolutely right.

  24. Gee, wouldn't this be a good time to prorogue parliament so he doesn't have to answer any questions about all this? Yes, apparently it's the perfect time to prorogue parliament. See ya! Sorry, no questions, no questions! Just take a few pictures of my sexy hair. You won't be seeing it for a while.

  25. I'm wondering how a degree in Russian history and literature qualifies you to be finance minister. Freeland has no previous financial experience. On the CBC this morning it was suggested that appointing her shows Trudeau figures he doesn't really need a finance minister anyway. His staff will work with senior people at Finance while she is a mere figurehead. It was also suggested the leaks the PMO orchestrated over the past week was a lesson to other ministers that they should never disagree with Trudeau, even privately, even where they accede to his wishes without further complaint. Else every instance will be duly recorded and then used to justify firing you. Trudeau wants nothing but yes-men in his cabinet. Or does anyone really imagine this was Morneau's idea?

  27. The MSM were also criticizing Trump when he was doing the right things, and then criticizing him when he was doing the wrong things. People are completely brainwashed into this mouth-foaming Trump-is-Satan mentality. Imagine going on your Facebook and defending ANY policy decision the guy makes, you'd be raked over the coals and deemed some racist alt-right Trump supporter, because the mob says we all have to hate him & everything he does.

  28. So there are all these ballots for the 40% who don't show up, if you can find a way to use 1/10th of those votes with mail-in fraud that's enough to swing almost any state.

  29. Yes , because thats what the government wants the gravy train to stop, just to teach us to stand up on our own, What makes you think Canadians actually give a rats ass about what the politicians do...They don't..... we keep putting in the same bunch of losers and we are shocked we get the same results....
