  1. This is nothing more than another liberal attempt at deflection of their excellent handling of the pandemic, and the dumping of hundreds of billions of tax payers dollars. In this case it will be tied into this recent shooting which it already has.....where the shooter had illegal firearms a hunting rifle, hand gun and shot gun, plus a RCMP hand gun, no mention of those nasty assault rifles, but they will some how be worked into the narrative somehow... ... it has nothing to do with overall safety of our citizens, but rather a feel good liberal exercise in further complicating the ownership of weapons.

  2. Examining the conduct of one’s ancestors is an entirely appropriate exercise as long as one puts their behaviour in the context of the time. Wallowing is optional.

  3. There is. And it was useless in this case. Criminals or anyone determined have no difficulty getting illegal firearms.

  4. I hear from my WY office the simple (and probably true) that someone trying to pull of the NS deal in WY would have been taken down by someone packing a handgun at first opportunity. The idea that we should live in a police state where only the authorities have weapons is repulsive to say the least. The concept that it would have made any difference to the murderous bastard in NS is idiotic. He planned and executed his bizarre scheme with great care and attention to detail. Do you think an "assault weapon" (WTF that is supposed to mean) ban would have made any difference at all???? It just shows how devoid of logic the virtue signalling, politically correct world of Liberalism/liberalism must be.

  5. I'm not blaming it on the immigration, or at least the immigrants themselves, but the posture of our PM re: the topic of immigration is galling. The vast majority of our division is imo entirely from the PM himself. He's extremely protective of the Quebec culture, and jobs in Mtl (his willingness to break the law to protect SNC, for whatever reason, is a prime example), while at the same time he's eager to throw English-Canadian culture under the bus and kill jobs in western Canada. He constantly denigrates Canadians in general, men, white men, makes ridiculous claims of things like genocide against indigenous women, protects the rights of minorities to commit crimes against Canadians (by allowing terrorist to keep citizenship) or war crimes abroad, etc. It's no surprise that the Bloc is rising to new heights under Trudeau and that western separation is suddenly a topic. Trudeau is a pice of filth and imo he's a traitor, plain and simple. I have no more affection for that man than I have for cancer.

  6. Wallowing in guilt is not progression, though progressives do seem to enjoy it rather much. Examining the conduct of your ancestors and then denouncing them for not acting as per the morals of the present, and then tearing down their statues is a moronic exercise in virtue signalling.

  7. It is still racism....then and now. Trudeau comes from a province (Quebec) that has long treated blacks in such a manner. Others have been forced to resign over such "mistakes"...but not Trudeau.

  9. I am baffled how people in Canada and USA, or to say better the media always beats the drum of racism. I think at the end is all economics, it sells good to give people an excuse if their life is not going well. Instead of giving them motivation to succeed the press tends to just blame racism and that harms the individual. As a legal immigrant from Eastern Europe I came in with speaking limited English, there were comments made in high school, of course they were, but I kept my head down and learnt the language, got a job and pay my taxes. The press, immigrants, academia, SJW don't understand one concept. A lot of immigrants don't want to adapt in their new country and of course is hard for them because an equal reaction will come from the society. Is physics, equal action = equal reaction. My dad forbid me to speak my language in my house, just English and that helped me a lot to be accepted by the society. And regarding slavery, yes, it is probably one of the most disgusting things ever done by man to man however that still goes on in certain places of the Earth, like Africa. Maybe we should focus our energy there. In North America people can never move on to succeed if they focus on the pain of the past. Unless your a communist that has no respect for local traditions, everyone else should understand that the racism issue is not that much an issue but a propaganda machine to make some money by dividing people. The average person in every group just wants better economic situation, help them achieve that by motivation not by giving them an excuse to not try anymore and just "blame racism".

  10. Why are there so many people like you who always want to keep bringing up slavery in America or who keep whining and crying about how Indians were treated centuries ago? The practice of slavery and the bad treatment against native Indians ended centuries ago. I want to forget the past but I cannot because of people like you and your constant let's keep racism alive and well by trying to make all white people out as and always will be a bunch of racists. When people like you keep bringing that up, it would appear to me as though you are the ones that are trying to promote hatred against white people yourself. Sure there is racism in Canada, and there always will be. There is racism all over the world, and racism will never end. But thanks to multiculturalism and massive 3rd world immigration and the forcing of so many different cultures together is probably going to create and become a big problem one day here in Canada. Canada is being set up for a cultural disaster as we see many different cultures coming to Canada today and are now living in their own tribal ghettos. Canada will soon become a divided country as those new cultures increase in numbers. Asians and East Indians can pretty much carry on in Canada without assimilating into Canadian culture. They are being allowed to practice in Canada their own cultures as to how they lived from whence they came. I know that Asians do not like East Indians, nor do Chinese like Japanese or Korean people. Koreans and Japanese do not like Chinese people. Black people despise white people. Muslims despise everybody. Are you starting to get the picture yet? So quit with trying to make it appear as though there are crosses being burned everywhere in Canada today and white people are naturally all racists. Geez, some people's kids?

  11. No, it was largely useless, and filled with inaccuracies. Gee, maybe because some psycho might come to our door to shoot us and the cops are 10-20-30-40 minutes away? That will not happen. No politician will address the free flow of arms through the cross-border reserves, and the judges have stated very clearly they will not allow mandatory minimum sentences for the smuggling, sale, purchase or possession of illegal weapons. Nor will they issue severe sentences, regardless of the scale parliament writes into law. Parliament can state a sentence up to twenty years for something, but judges will continue to hand out a year or two, and then give them 2 or 3 for 1 off because of pre-trial custody - regardless of what parliament says. Remember, the Tories tried to put in mandatory minimums and tried to eliminate the pre-trial custody deal. The judges said no. And they're in charge.

  12. Exactly...there should have been segregation and infection control at the nursing homes much earlier. Letting underpaid employees travel between facilities was a disaster waiting to happen...and it did. If it takes military resources (e.g. Quebec), then make it so.

  14. I just scored a 24 pack of premium double ply TP today. Price is up a little, but shelves are beginning to catch up as the hoarding subsides. We only buy one package to help spread it around for more shoppers. There seems to be less panic in the store now that people are adjusting to the new normal and supply chains are keeping up. This may help Trump in some ways because people understand what to expect, wear their masks, keep 2 meters apart, and crack on with their lives. Politics is not exactly a high priority right now, no matter what Trump or the Trump haters say.

  16. Yeaaaah, that's crap. Sorry. I know the mantra on that but it's long been demonstrated as nonsense. The North actually had to carry the inefficient South with their slave labour. As for the nonsense about stolen land - every country and nation on Earth consists of the descendants of people who killed those who were there before them. Nobody cares about this. Nobody feels guilty about this. Except us. Really, just the four former colonies of the UK. Everyone else takes it for granted. You think the Muslims of Turkey cry over the fact they invaded, murdered and drove off all the Byzantine Christians who lived on that land for thousands of years? History is now a highly politicized field filled with ideologues of the far left. And Home is one of them.

  24. Thanks to Angus, he got me searching for free movies! I found some free FULL Movies that you folks might enjoy. A lot of old - some black and white, too! Now - it's no longer just trailers that I am checking out. I'm also compiling a list of free full movies I'd want to see. Because they don't cost any, I even want to watch documentaries, and subtitled foreign films. I had to jack up the volume on some of the movies. Here are some full-length movies : Strangers When We Meet (melodrama centers upon the tangled webs woven by a philandering architect and his mistress, who is also his next door neighbor. Kirk Douglas) Heaven Can Wait (Warren Beatty. Mistakenly taken to heaven, the plot centers on how the mistake can be undone) Dear Ruth (WW2 serviceman shows up to meet his pen pal Ruth)

  25. It should be a personal choice. If the vulnerable want to roll the dice on their health and get out there in the public sphere, that's a choice they can make. Maybe that sounds radical, but is it any worse or even as sketchy as assisted suicide and right to die legislation? I think we have to watch that this public health crisis doesn't become an excuse to keep everyone under house arrest in the name of safety. That's slavery to a puritanical health code. Within the next several weeks we will have to start lightening the restrictions. Maybe it starts with the immune and those who test negative to carrying the virus who choose to participate. The vulnerable stay at home by choice. Those with the virus or who appear symptomatic are in quarantine. When a new case emerges in the public sphere there is immediate self-isolation and contact tracing. When the immune and those who test negative do return to work, there will be smaller groupings. Restaurants, gyms, and just about everything else can come back with smaller capacities and stricter public hygiene. At that point we monitor the system and manage the levels of new cases to ensure the health care system isn't overwhelmed until we find effective treatments or a vaccine. It's unhealthy for people to live in isolation like this. It's also unsustainable for governments to backstop what is essentially economic inactivity. We need to watch what happens in the jurisdictions that open up first in the coming weeks. We already have some examples to consider, such as Sweden, Germany, and Denmark. We have to be realistic about what our culture, medical system, and resources can handle, in terms of PPE, testing, surveillance, public spending, and other inputs. It isn't a fair trade to indefinitely turn ourselves over to totalitarian surveillance and a small government funded paycheck in exchange for more health and safety, not if we can find a reasonable middle ground. We can be careful and accept a certain amount of risk. If some people choose not to take that risk who are able-bodied and don't fall into the elderly or vulnerable category, perhaps that is a choice those people can make, but the government funding of that option can only reach so far, in the end. Otherwise we surrender a vast part of human agency and freedom for subsistence living in a lonely prison.

  26. Slavery existed in the US for about 100 years. It was normal all over the world, as far back in history as we know. It has been abolished in the US for 150 years. The US wasn't forced to abolish slavery by anyone. They did it of their own accord. The Persians were slavers for a couple thousand years. The muslims in that area were slavers for another 1400 years. There's probably 5,000 consecutive years of slavery being normal in Iran. Perspective. So weird.

  27. Ahh, I forgot the African Queen. Great movie. While they were filming, Lauren Bacall accompanied Bogart and was the camp cook. Katarine Hepburn's contract stipulated she have her own toilet on a barge. Unfortunately, a low hanging branch breeched the contract. Casablanca is another classic. My favourite scene in the Third Man was the coocoo clock story at the base of the ferris wheel. I always thought it was Graham Greene's line, but it was a throw away line by Orson Wells.

  28. Is Biden the First Lady in that scenario? Does anyone really think Michelle would be playing second fiddle to a guy who can barely speak english anymore? Honestly, Michelle as VP smacks of Barack's 3rd term, because there's literally no way that Biden lasts 4 years if he wins. I'll go straight to Vegas and lay odds on Biden lasting 2 yrs or less as POTUS.

  31. This is just an accusation disguised as a question Marocc. The question is predicated on your false assertion that Canadians are more racist than people in other places. That's patently false, so your initial question is just a weak attempt at hate mongering. How do I know it's false? Canadians don't kill our own people just for blasphemy. Canadians don't kill other Canadians because of their sexual orientation. It's highly illegal in Canada to physically attack other Canadians out of bigotry, and in cases where that does happen, a perpetrator can face as much as ten extra years in prison for their "hate crime". This is the will of the people. The majority. It is an accurate reflection of the average Canadian. Hence, I say that Canadians are less bigoted than a lot of other countries. A better opening question is, what's your problem with Canadians Marocc? What gives you the impression that Canadians are more racist than people from other countries? Do you feel like you're less racist than Canadians? Do you feel like you're less of a bigot than most Canadians? What your ethnic origin? Your religion, or lack thereof? Are people from your country, or your religion, the types to kill others for being different? Let's go Marocc.

  32. If anyone has never seen The Paper, I highly recommend it. It's a rather unknown movie with a star studded cast, and it's really good. Michael Keaton, Glenn Close, Marisa Tomei, Randy Quaid, Robert Duvall, Jason Alexander, and Catherine O'Hara (1994).

  33. Canada is one of the LEAST racist countries in the world and actively works at stamping it out. Why would you be overly concerned about racism in Canada when the MOST racist countries are Middle Eastern and Islamic-ruled countries? If you are truly concerned about racism, I would start there.

  36. I think the solution is a strong, articulate leader who doesn't shrink from espousing and defending conservative policies. We haven't had one in a while. The problem for the conservatives is really that their policies are broad based. They're like "With an improved economy, there'll be more jobs and you'll have more opportunities" vs the NDP and Liberals whose policies can be summarized as "Vote for me and I'll send you big, fat cheques!" Conservatives are all about self-reliance. The Left is all about blaming other people for your problems and reassuring you none of it is your fault. That's a more attractive argument to the weak-minded who make up most of the electorate for the NDP and Liberals. No one is asking them to do anything. Instead they promise the government will do all sorts of stuff for them. For free! What's not to like? As long as the money lasts. Which, due to this virus, might not be long. Most provinces are going to get credit downgrades very soon, along with the federal government. That's going to bring higher borrowing costs and, eventually, higher debt servicing costs. And if all this massive borrowing causes an inflation spike everyone's debt is going to quickly get out of control.

  37. No, that's the kind of equivalency argument we get all the time from progressives. And it's crap. The Catholic church, just as a start, does not support the death penalty for people who violate a wide variety of religious laws. For that matter, it doesn't have any religious laws. It does not require women to cover up, while men can dress as they want. It doesn't make women sit in the back of the church behind a screen, or up in the attic. It doesn't suggest as part of its dogma that a woman's word is worth one quarter that of a man, nor that in inheritances, sons should get much more than daughters. It does not preach against gays so much as it does against extra-marital sex. And it doesn't believe in gay marriage because marriage is a sacrament meant to bring about children. It certainly doesn't suggest they should be killed. To quote Douglas Murray, who addressed this very issue, when people proudly told him they'd protested the pope's visit "You know, I'm a gay man, I'd the church to marry gay men, but they aren't going to. Meanwhile, I just wish those people so concerned with gay marriage and Catholics would be at least a little concerned with people who want to throw me off a f*cking building." And the Catholic church is not preaching against the evil of the unbelievers the way Islam does, hence almost all the terrorist trying to murder people are Muslims not Catholics.
