The protests are against a natural gas pipeline that has already been approved by the elected chiefs of the 20 bands in the contested area. These unelected chiefs who do not support Canadian law because they don’t recognize Canada are supported by anti-pipeline environmentalists. They do not recognize that transporting oil and natural gas by pipelines is safer and cleaner than doing it by rail or truck. They want to “shut down” Canada, yet there is no clear platform. No doubt they want severe restrictions on fossil fuels and extremely high carbon taxes, but not for the Wet’suwet’en people, who they think should pay no taxes and carry on living with all the comfy carbon-based amenities on a racially pure land, exclusive of non-Indigenous people and free of pipelines. Is this not part of the same trend we’re seeing in places like Hungary, where the Greens propose carbon taxes for the workers to pay for an exclusive, ethnically pure state? Thoughts?

The public is always jumping on the next chicken little crisis/scam. Y2K was my favourite. Now it's man-made global warming - "Give us your virgin daughters or your crops will fail!" I'm concerned about a second go-round of this virus, because of the fact that it's communicable before the symptoms show up. That makes it far deadlier than something like Ebola, which isn't communicable until it's obvious that you have it. I would still like to get this virus now while it's weak so that I can have some immunity to the next iteration of the virus, just in case it's a lot stronger. Maybe China released this weak version of the virus to cull their population and give immunity to their healthiest people, so that they can release a stronger version in a year or two. If a country was going to engage in biological warfare then the current version of the Coronavirus would be a perfect "Stage 1" for "Plan A".

So basically we stop most industry and resource extraction, tax the hell out of existence, because everything we do requires production, which at best requires electricity in order to provide the level of power needed to maintain the lifestyle to which we’re accustomed. The biggest victim gets the most points and the workers pay for the scheme in higher taxes.
