He openly bashed Obama's Iran strategy when running for office, it shouldn't be news to anyone paying attention that he wasn't nearly as keen on appeasing Iran as Obama, it was plain as day.2 points

Was Canada so concerned about "increased tensions" caused by other Iran inspired events in the region ? Were Canadian nationals advised not to travel in the area ? Did Canada refuse to deploy 500 troops in the region because it might "increase tensions" with Iran ? Nope. News flash to Canada....President Donald Trump was elected to "increase tensions" with Iran.2 points

Well Reagan came across as a basically kind and decent fellow. There’s too much narcissism and belligerence in Trump’s persona, and America First comes off as excessive greed and supremacy. Trudeau has his own issues and the opposite problem of talking a good line with too little realism to be taken seriously. Ultimately it comes down to wise and honourable statesmanship. At times I’ve seen Trump show decency, but the general impression is brash and amoral. Part of leadership is making sacrifices for the greater good. Acting alone for one’s own benefit is a short game. I’m thinking here about problems that can only be solved through international cooperation, such as tensions in the Middle East, climate change, and even trade imbalances.2 points

Canada's like the dumb twerp in school wandering around with the 'Kick Me' sign on his back. Everyone wants to come here 'cause we're so stupid.2 points

Entitled refugees? Yes, it seems so. There is an ironic story in the G&M today undoubtedly designed to raise sympathy for the plight of poor refugees trying to find housing in Toronto. It fails badly. The immediate focus, a refugee from Afghanistan, is totally unsympathetic. She whines about her housing and the money she's given and says if she knew things would be like this she'd have stayed in Turkey or back in Afghanistan. Rents are too high here and she isn't being given enough money! Then there's the Syrian refugee and his wife and five kids. He's thinking of moving, but darn it all, he wants to live around Muslims where his wife and daughter won't be stared at in their hijabs. And another Afghani who came here six years ago and is still living in his subsidized bachelor apartment, only now with a wife and toddler. He's on the list for a bigger place but there's only so much subsidized housing to go around, what with so many new refugees coming in every day. What an absolute mess the Liberals are creating with mass immigration, huge numbers of refugees, hundreds of thousands of foreign students and hundreds of thousands of temporary foreign workers, all seeking cheap housing. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-newcomers-to-canada-struggle-amid-torontos-housing-crisis/#comments1 point

You only need to google Jews in France to see what's going on there. https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2015/04/is-it-time-for-the-jews-to-leave-europe/386279/ Rue, I also fear for Jews in countries where large masses of Muslims are re-settling. No one is saying "All Muslims", but Argus is correct - it is a disturbingly large number of them that are openly antisemitic and it is awakening the "sleeping" antisemitism that has been present in Europe since WW2.1 point

The author's name is at the top of the article in very large letters. When did you live in Cote d'Ivoire? I assume you are extremely familiar with the country to discount what is said in the article - again - WITHOUT EVEN READING IT.1 point

If you had a time machine to go back to Cold War 1953, I'd guarantee you'd have a few issues "nationalizing" oil wells and then hoping to sell it to the Soviets to appease the Tudeh Party, too!1 point

Canada doesn't have a housing problem, Toronto and Vancouver have a housing problem. Everyone has a right to have babies, nobody has a right to demand the state pays for it or makes their lives perfect. This couple wasn't in a financial position to have 2 babies, now they're paying for it, and their children suffer for it. Shame on them. Move to a cheaper city, set yourself up better, save some money, then have babies. Stop being a victim and take some darn responsibility for your life.1 point

If all you have is "I don't like Trump's character", that is a very weak argument against him, and it's pitiful that these are the best anti-Trump material you have. You are also a very poor judge of character, if you think Trump is so much worse than the alternatives, even on the character tip.1 point

Only a complete idiot would think that climate change can’t be addressed without global solutions. On Iran, in several days hundreds of people have died due to an unfolding of events that wouldn’t have started without the assassination of that general. No, the US didn’t down that airline, but the downing of that airline is more “collateral damage” of a go it alone manipulation of affairs in the Middle East. Is the world a better place because of those actions? I already know what cheerleaders like you think. Iran’s regime is bad news, but the oppression hasn’t stopped. Also, leaving out personal conduct, disrespectful public behaviour in leaders isn’t good for organizations or countries. It’s neither strong nor admirable. People follow these examples and respond in a like manner. Again, if Americans want belligerent leadership, that’s what they’ll get. Whatever, USA USA USA! “Shoot ‘em all and let God figure it out.” Making money and strong-arming opponents aren’t the real challenges. Restraint and generosity are harder, more important virtues, but that takes character and wisdom. You can’t take anything with you but people remember what you leave behind.1 point

In the case of Trump I view him as a productive bastard, he's hired to do the job, not be Mr. Nice Guy. If you have concerns about his job performance, that is the best material to attack him with, not his personality. If all your problems with him are personality based, then you have no good argument against Trump whatsoever. The thing about most Trump Haters is, they get caught up on personality concerns and never have good criticisms of his actions, while his supporters often have way better criticisms of him, despite not hating him.1 point

1. Things have been worse for decades now way before this election, but that did not seem to bother those who voted for King Trudeau. They gave him even more opportunities to go and blow more tax dollars on his pet peeve liberal programs and agendas. With the leaders that Canada has had for all these decades it's no wonder that Canada is in a bloody deep state debt mess. 2. We appear to have a leader in Canada today who is now trying to deindustrialize this once great country, and appears to want to turn it over to the native Indians, and those crazy in the head environmentalists. This present day leader of ours is trying to stop all the many big projects that he can instead of allowing the many big projects to go ahead, not to forget that some of our provincial premiers are not all that much in favor of more projects and more jobs. Our oil and mineral and manufacturing industry creating jobs are in a slump and are being kept from starting up and being able to create thousands of new jobs. The liberals have created too many rules and regulations/red tape that makes it quite difficult and expensive to try and get some projects or jobs started. Thousands of Albertan's already know as to what this prime mistake as done to them and what he has also done to the rest of Canada, except probably for La Belle Province. 3. Will those who voted for Trudeau ever get it? I doubt it. They appear to only want to make things worse, rather than better for Canada and other Canadians. Why else would anyone want to vote for that j---kazz again. The guy appears to not give a crap about Canada. 4. Well, that appears to be the program and the agenda of the many new immigrants and many of those so called legal and illegal refugees that have been brought in or have been allowed to sneak into this country. They are not the stupid ones here. We the host people appear to be the stupid ones here. What more can be said.1 point

It seems as though there are a lot of homeless people wandering around, and there vets that need help from the federal government that they aren't getting. But I can see how bringing in more refugees and giving away more money to foreign countries is still our first priority. The people who are already here can freeze/starve I guess.1 point

what is needed to save the economy is to do useful, productive work. No amount if immigration will change or effect that, but it WILL add to our debt if we don't get smart and only bring in useful, educated, skilled and well financed immigrants. Haitian drug dealers and Somali terrorists don't fit that profile very well.1 point

Complete and utter nonsense. How come producing IEDs to kill American soldiers wasn’t escalating tensions? How come seizing American ships in the straight of Hormuz wasn’t escalating tensions? How come attacking Saudi oil fields wasn’t escalating tensions? How come attacking American embassies wasn’t escalating tensions? Give me a f**king break.1 point

No, I don’t want you to hate refugees. But if somebody expresses a willingness to go back to their country of origin, are they really refugees? I always thought refugees are suppose to come from really terrible situations. Not situations that they’d think about going back to because things aren’t as good as they thought in their new western country home. Regardless, the answer is probably that we should narrow our focus, as well as limit the number of people we accept, if our system can’t handle the volume. Which it obviously can’t. We already have many Canadians born here that are struggling to pay rent, etc. We don’t need to import more. I always thought imports were suppose to be of things we don’t or can’t produce. After all, we don’t import maple syrup and poutine.1 point

Trump will be re-elected and will be in power for another 6 years. US economy has never been so great with historic low unemployment rate and inflation and booming economy and investment and consumer confidence while US is gaining back its international prestige lost during democrat presidents idiots like Carter and Obama. By then Iran regime is buried in the dirt bag of the history and the ruling apes six feet under by its own people1 point

If I had a time machine I'd go back and blow the whistle on England's request that America overthrow a peaceful democracy. I wonder how many issues that would have raised? That said I wonder why Truman hasn't been excoriated for not blowing the whistle? He's as much of a coward as Eisenhower actually.0 points
