  1. They killed 176 people but 63 of them were Canadians. They also murdered 1500 unarmed young protesters including 400 women and 17 children just last month in a nationwide protest against the regime. The order to kill came from the top leadership. These are most recent massacres but many more just past few years. https://www.voanews.com/middle-east/voa-news-iran/us-confirms-report-citing-iran-officials-saying-1500-killed-protests The reason Iranians cannot rid of this regime btw, is because the regime is too brutal and order its hired thugs to purposely target hearts and heads of protesters and does not care about international reactions and they enjoy support from two other murderous regimes of Russia and China.

  2. Qassem Soleimani was an apparatus of the Iranian regime taken out by the US. IMO he was a bargaining chip provided on a silver plate to the Americans by the Ayatollahs as his gradual strength through the ranks over the years posed a real threat to the supreme leader. He was a peasant that became a general, a general who became an icon fighting off ISIS and keeping them at bay from Iran borders and yet part of the same corrupt ideology inherent in the Iranian regime that ultimately killed him off.... One would argue that the following events post his assassination is only good for Iranian leadership and Trump’s re-election chances. The so called “hard revenge” by Iran was nothing but a ‘contrived’ scenario collaborated by the supreme leader of Iran and president Trump each for their own chances of appeasing to the nation. Iran’s peculiar attack on “US bases” in Iraq without even a single casualty poses many questions....There were no American casualties. So far so good. It was win win scenario for both Iran and the US. Ayatollahs get the popular vote for domestic consumption propagating that we have given a ‘slap to the Great Satan’ and the foreign minister of Iran Zarif stating that the matter about Qassem Soleimani “is now concluded”. With Soleimani out of the picture the chapter is now closed and a new chapter begins the standoff between Iran, US and its allies....On the other hand Trump is looking triumphant as ever by taking “the general out”. This will dilute his impeachment case and increase his chances in securing a second term.... But the real losers here are the Iranian people that are caught in the midst of fire....Literally.... The death toll of 176 passengers on a recent Ukrainian flight by an anti missile was a terrible tragedy. The Iranian regime admitted to this. In an ironic way, this event resonates a similar attack in 1988 by the US navy ship in the Persian Gulf in which 290 Iranian passengers were onboard flight PS752 hit by a US missile. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/01/10/middleeast/iran-air-flight-655-us-military-intl-hnk/index.html

  4. No, I don’t want you to hate refugees. But if somebody expresses a willingness to go back to their country of origin, are they really refugees? I always thought refugees are suppose to come from really terrible situations. Not situations that they’d think about going back to because things aren’t as good as they thought in their new western country home. Regardless, the answer is probably that we should narrow our focus, as well as limit the number of people we accept, if our system can’t handle the volume. Which it obviously can’t. We already have many Canadians born here that are struggling to pay rent, etc. We don’t need to import more. I always thought imports were suppose to be of things we don’t or can’t produce. After all, we don’t import maple syrup and poutine.

  7. It was more the damn devious British and fucking Winston Churchill who were stealing Iran's oil for decades and about to lose that privilege who tricked Americans into this horrible action. They provided false intelligence that Mossadegh was a communist or cooperating with the Tudeh party a Russian puppet party then.

  8. Entitled refugees? Yes, it seems so. There is an ironic story in the G&M today undoubtedly designed to raise sympathy for the plight of poor refugees trying to find housing in Toronto. It fails badly. The immediate focus, a refugee from Afghanistan, is totally unsympathetic. She whines about her housing and the money she's given and says if she knew things would be like this she'd have stayed in Turkey or back in Afghanistan. Rents are too high here and she isn't being given enough money! Then there's the Syrian refugee and his wife and five kids. He's thinking of moving, but darn it all, he wants to live around Muslims where his wife and daughter won't be stared at in their hijabs. And another Afghani who came here six years ago and is still living in his subsidized bachelor apartment, only now with a wife and toddler. He's on the list for a bigger place but there's only so much subsidized housing to go around, what with so many new refugees coming in every day. What an absolute mess the Liberals are creating with mass immigration, huge numbers of refugees, hundreds of thousands of foreign students and hundreds of thousands of temporary foreign workers, all seeking cheap housing. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-newcomers-to-canada-struggle-amid-torontos-housing-crisis/#comments

  9. President Trump's support for Iran nation boosts the protests. https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/jim-hanson-trumps-tweets-boost-iranian-protests-the-world-is-watching-president-warns-mullahs Iran regime killed an American contractor, then killed 176 innocents on an airplane. But the really horrifying thing is they killed more than 1,500 of their own citizens over the past months for the crime of protesting against the regime. Despite that crackdown, they are out in force protesting again, showing the bravery of the Iranian people and offering proof they are not going to accept the ongoing corruption and oppression of the mullahs. They have seen the damage these fanatics have done to the world and to their own country and they’ve had e The protesters got a tremendous boost when President Trump sent a tweet in Farsi supporting their cause, which rapidly became the most liked tweet in Farsi in the history of Twitter.

  14. In a symbolic gesture Iranian protesters purposely refuse to walk over the US and Israeli flags. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/274449 The flags painted down by the regime to be walked over but instead the nation is now walking over the pictures of the ayatollahs which has brought nothing but death, destruction, misery and discrimination and division for this defenseless nation. In the second video the crowd brought down picture of general Soleimani while the crowd was cheering. I have heard crowds shouting admiration for the US before. I wonder how long before we hear admiration slogans for Israel from Iranian crowd who are now aware the Arab invasion has brought them the ayatollahs they now despise.

  19. Yes, lots of countries around the world have been interfered with. But they don’t act in a similar fashion. See central and South America as well as most African countries. Regardless, if you keep going back in history, you’ll see that Iran has interred in the same manner many times throughout the region. Guess what? History doesn’t start at 1953, or even 1900! It actually goes back hundreds and thousands of years. Stop giving Iran a pass on killing 63 innocent people. If you go back far enough everyone has a reason to act like an a**hole.

  20. C’mon. You talk about America as though it’s one person. America has many wise and sophisticated citizens as well as many ignorant and unintelligent citizens. It has mean spirited citizens and people of goodwill. Guess what, so does Iran and all countries. The governance structure in America is better than in most but probably not the best. Its good geography and freedom has attracted many people and built a strong economy and military. Great. With great power comes great responsibility. America’s foreign policy history has a mixed record of success and failure. Many good acts and outcomes (Marshall Plan and D Day, winning the culture war that won the Cold War, etc.) and some lousy acts and outcomes (Iran-Contra, arms for hostages, opium funding of Vietnam war, protracted Vietnam war, second invasion of Iraq, excessive beholdenness to the military industrial complex, disrupting democratic outcomes in Middle East, etc.). I’d still rather see the US dominate than China or Russia, so far. I’d rather see a better international distribution of power that contains the excessive belligerence of any power, including the US. It is true though that economic and military supremacy affords many privileges, including the ability to play by your own rules. The US has that. That’s our reality. American voters should be well informed in order to use this power responsibly. Other countries with good ideas need to find ways to positively impact the use of power. Hard power is important, but in the Information Age, so are ideas. Present a good vision for the world and people will follow. The US doesn’t have a great world vision under current leadership, which is a vulnerability. It’s relying more heavily these days on economic and military might.

  21. There are many similar scenarios when this regime has eliminated their own who may not have followed their strict way of repression (Rafsanjani, the former President of this regime) or became too popular and a threat for the leadership. Another example is ayatollah Taleghani at the beginning of the clerical coup in 1979. He became very popular as he started speaking against mass executions and extremism and suddenly he died of a heart attack the next day. Many similar examples when a popular figure who was a devoted member of the regime but deviated slightly from the extreme brutal line of the regime and became popular suddenly died in a suspicious manner.

  27. Makes you wonder why there are any homosexuals at all, what with all the heterosexual indoctrination going on. The gays are subjected to non-stop around the clock propaganda in the form of literature, film, music, commercials etc aimed at turning them straight. Not to mention the bigotry, violence and even the strong arm of the law in some countries aimed at disuading them from "choosing" to be gay. One can only assume that there must be something wrong with them. Or that it isn't a choice at all.

Look at what happened throughout Africa and tell me there wasn't a war happening. Look at the Cuban Missile Crisis. It all happened through proxies.

  36. This mindset is made up of a couple of things, a sense of entitlement, we have lived so long under the American defense umbrella that we now demand the coverage for free, and feel slighted when they ask us to step up and pay for some of our own defense cost, or to pay an equal share in our defense agreements...Twofaced once again we are delighted they are paying for our defense freeing up bils to be spent on luxury policies and tax breaks...but ever chance we get we stab them in the back and making it a national past time that we are proud of...we are cry babies , we want a seat at the grown ups table, but our actions tell the world we are not ready for pants just yet, we will always be at the kids table....G-8 nation or not... You and a good majority of Canadians will be finger pointers your entire life telling everyone what is wrong with this world, and how to correct it. and you'll do that from sitting in front of your computer eating Cheeto's with a 2 liter bottle of coke...all talk no action. And those Canadians that are willing to step up because they are embarrassed and can't sit there and do nothing are quickly deemed to be on far right , and are to be shouted down like dogs. Because paying ones way is not a Canadian value, and should be considered extreme at all costs...we can't pay 2 % o GDP for defense, Can't pay out indigenous claims for land or abuse as children, can't pay for climate change, can't pay out our wounded vets , can't bring home 2 men stuck in China...the list is to long to spell out everything...we are a nation of cant's. Th e US has been forced to take on this role as the worlds policemen, as nobody else has stepped up , forced to use mostly their own tax dollars to maintain a force structure that is capable of doing the job not just within their own borders, but through out the entire world. You and many Canadians may not like it , but here we sit unable or unwilling to either help or come up with another solution. You and those like you are a nothing more than a dead beats, welfare abusers, that drag the rest of the country down to the depths of the left... you sir deserve a round of applause , "stand up take a bow", your the tool of the day...

  37. "Trump has very little intellect in place"? WTH? With what you just said shows me that you have very little intellect. Trump is a billionaire and Trump owns tons of property. For a guy who is supposed to have no intellect, Trump has sure done pretty good for a guy who has no intellect IMHO. I personally find that most Canadians lack any intellect. While Canadians own government steals from them every day, and gives them more government, and tries to take away more freedom, they appear to careless about it, which shows me that they pretty much have no intelligence at all. They appear to be more like a a bunch of Joe and Mary six pack fools and idiots. And to top it off, there are so many stunned Canadians out there who truly do believe what that "how dare you" Greta Thornburg little brat has to say. When it comes to my freedom and taxes, I would prefer to have Trump control those two for me, rather than the a bunch of loser leftist liberal Canadians out there. I would never trust my freedom with Canadians any longer. They appear to always want to fight for the wrong things all the time. They have become too dumb downed for my liking anymore. Just saying.

  38. edited Let's get real. The point of this thread is a shmuck is a shmuck unless of course he/she is a refugee shmuck then it means we can use that shmuckiness to make negative assumptions about the entire refugee determination system and other refugees. I can see deficiencies in how refugees are defined and/or processed. Yes I get it. The refugee system should screen out terrorists, criminals, human rights violators, false claimants I get that...but do you want to tell me how the subjective shmuck qualities of the people you mentioned create characteristics that can be screened out? If so how? NO ONE HAS. If all anyone has are subjective anecdotes of a few shmucks acting like shmucks , what do you want me to say? How does that establish a basis to shut down or LIMIT the entire system because of these shmucks? Please explain. Does anyone have anything to offer other than to point out negative qualities about specific refugees and then automatically conclude it means other refugees neeed to be limited?
