The longer they wait to balance the budget, the greater the debt, and the more vulnerable we will be to a future downturn. Harper tried to push back on pensions as many other responsible nations have, so that people couldn't collect till 67. Trudeau reversed that for crass political purposes. The situation as it presently stands where people can work for 30 years and then collect full pensions for 30-40 more is not likely sustainable.1 point

First off I am as partisan on my side as you are yours so I deserve all you BC, Shady, Y, etc. throw at me. Fair is fair and you know I respect that. That said and again to be fair. yes CNN is very anti Trump. For sure. Just as Fox is pro Trump. For that matter MNBC or whatever you call it is anti Trump. Hell I would go so far nto say with fairness, the mainstream press is anti Trump for sure. They obsess over many trivial things he does, yes. How much of that is deliberate and how much of that is as a result of reactive journalism to his douche bag approach to politics is hard to say. He has gone out of his way to alienate and insult the press as a deliberate manipulative tool to play himself as an underdog victim to the crowds he likes to play to so I can't dump it all on the press particularly his pathological lying. I do candidly admit, I think American media walks into his baiting and narcissistic tirades and fuels them and adds to them. They could be spending more time avoiding editorialization and sticking to presenting cold objective facts to counter his non stop litany of lies. I also believe something really really stinks bad with Biden-Clinton not just Trump. I just do not see how a Biden-Trump election is a remedy or satisfactory or healthy response to it. I think both sides are equally as corrupt and covering up and at this point I am not sure if anything in terms of a US investigative agency is not tainted by partisan politics one way or the other. We also agree the Dems are in a free fall in terms of an unrealistic mushy leftist quadrant of its party seems to have seized control in the absence of any strong leader. I mean Warren and my Uncle, what's his name, Uncle Bernie, oy, can you imagine that guy as President? Lol. The last sentence you said is true Wes in the sense I am definitely caught up in the virtue signalling but not to deny reality but challenge what we have come to accept as the status quo and reality. Reality is what we make of it surely. Ideals may at times be unrealistic but my reality and others agree should not settle for Trump as status quo. We need better then that. So you bet a lot of it is virtue signalling because as much as I agree with you on many things I think we can't give up our ideals and while I may disagree with Eye on some leftist economic ideas I have to support his and others' comments on Trump as not being acceptable. Lying, insulting cheating, it aint right man. It just aint right. That said I admit I am only expressing partisan opinions like you but I agree with more of what you say than you think. I just have been giving you guys strong debate on this thread cuz its fun watching you guys twist and spin for Donny Boy. You remind me of Chubby Checker and that Beatles song Twist and Shout. I like to see myself as simply a Janis Joplin fan listen to Summertime...or maybe Marvin Gaye's lament....maybe Voodoo Chile and Jimmi. That's my tune. Trump is country music. The only country-Western I go by is the man Roy Orbison, Patsy Kline, Johny C or Ry Cooder. Trump is Boxcar Willie blowing my brain up like the Martians.1 point

You must be a lefty liberal alright. You watch and listen way too much to CNN/MSNBC and the bought off/government owned CBC. What you say the right wing says and does, so does the liberals and the NDP do the same thing also. Liberalism and socialism has shown me that those two ism's have not done anything good or great for Canada or Canadians. They both steal, and and then go blow and waste hundreds of billions of our tax dollars on their pet peeve liberal/socialist non-productive multicultural foreign aid programs and agendas that have done not a dam thing to help make Canada great. Instead those programs and agendas have pretty much bankrupted this country. It looks to me like you just want to find an excuse to mock real and true conservatives, the only ones who do have and do use common sense and logic, and not live off of crazy lefty emotional and foolish talk. Even Scheer of the conservative party is just as liberal as boy wonder is. The liberals and the NDP will use all their power if they can to try to enslave Canadians every chance they can get to do so. Conservatives do not create anti-freedom of speech laws like those others two like to do. The Harper conservatives got rid of Sec.13 from the Criminal Code of Canada which was used to try and shut down the rights of anyone who was not what one would call politically correct. And now the liberals want to bring back that anti-free speech Sec.13. You should worry more about what the lefty liberals say and do, and not what the conservatives say and do. If anyone is going to save and protect your freedom it is the so called right wing conservative. Liberalism is a brain destroying disease. Just my opinion of course. Works for me!1 point

Ahh 2020, brace your selves, backlash for years of progressive liberal nonsense is coming. The UK election is a good prelude to what will happen in November as well as Canada. "The outcome was a stark repudiation of the main opposition Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn and his radical program of state intervention, nationalization of key industries and tax rises for the better off. I would be fine having an atheist or member of a different faith from my own as PM if his/her policies are good for the country and if he/she is a principled person. What I’ll never accept is giving a person absolute authority over people. That’s where notions like the human spirit come in, the idea that one may have physical/temporal authority over people, but there is something greater in a person that can’t be owned, bought or controlled by the state. Many people of faith and many people who may not be sure what they believe or if they believe in God still believe in this idea that the individual has some kind of deeper essence. My argument to an atheist who thinks that the spiritual should be removed from the constitution is that you may not like a state that sees people as nothing more than physical subjects, because it’s easier to manipulate and control that which can be measured and observed. Anyway there is plenty of historical proof to show what forms of oppression are possible by governments that think they can have total control of their subjects through social engineering.1 point

How do you expect the government to pay for all the services and infrastructure we demand without raising taxes to pay for it?1 point

I think that things like population controls are an essential environmental necessity and that the power granted to individuals to add more people in the world itself is both a human rights crime. As to detaining religious groups, the nature of success of such groups to merely exist in such a country should tell you the degree of strength of those religions as above normal. In the threat of intolerance by the religous, such as how you think we need to be forced this upon us here, is also potentially hazardous for the particular kind of religion. Note that Socialist countries actually have MORE 'democratic powers than ours! The problem with that is how there is a tendency to favor lower common denominators on certain issues. It is arrogant of Canada (and the West) to simply presume their actions are bad without sufficient inspection,....something we are lacking. But see my last note. If you expect your leaders to be religious, then you will end up having the deceptive athiests maximize their 'evil' when at the top and who FAVOR the utility of religion just as you do, not the opposite.1 point

I still can't understand how people could allow ANY deficit spending at all. Just allows politicians to cash in during their term and pass the bill onto someone else's grandchildren.1 point

Lol ok hyperbole all you want. Fact is that trump was only in the movie for a few seconds. For trump to be in the movie for an hour he'd have to be the star, which was a 10 year old kid. Hmm maybe your right, trump could be in the movie for an hour.1 point

Agree, but I think his ability to define the terms of a discussion/debate is needed from the conservatives, Scheer was abysmal at this, and his opponents were able to define him to the public. Pierre’s ability to make a liberals arguments look down right stupid, while enraging them in scrums is absolutely needed from a Conservative leader, and its hilarious!1 point
