Poor Andrew Scheer...he didn't realize that in Canada, having American citizenship is a far greater sin than wearing brownface/blackface and the Afro wig.3 points

You are engaging in a similar defective argument people make defending Trump. You try deflect from the issue of Muslim extremism by raising criticism of Western states' foreign policies and/or human rights records. Using you argument, no one can challenge or criticize Muslim extremism because non Muslim extremists in your opinion are or have been equally as bad. That is illogical. One person being evil does not make another less evil. It simply makes them both evil. If you want to challenge Canada or the US as being evil, start a thread. To use that as a rationalization to avoid challenging Muslim fundamentalist extremism that leads to violence is not logical and as I said it is a deflection and a very obvious one at that. Oy my apostate hurts. I need some more zinc. Getting back to the issue, it was wrong to have the National Assembly of Quebec pass a law preventing religious attire in public service and leave a large cross on the wall of the assembly. That was hypocritical. It sent the wrong message. Separating religion and state requires a consistent approach.2 points

It's really weird that you think that the ONLY problem with hijabs and burkas are the people who don't like them - not the religion that requires it and punishes with death and beatings those who disobey, not the men who use it to control women, not the long and bloody history of it, not how it denigrates women, not how it damages women and girls psychologically, not how it gives men a misogynistic view of women. Weird and sad, I guess.2 points

They need to stop importing people from other countries who feel the need to join gangs and carry around handguns in the first place. If you carry around a handgun in a big urban city you're clearly bad news. Get to the root of the damn problem and keep the garbage out of Canada. I was raised by responsible parents, I've never owned a handgun, I've never been in a gang. My parents had their sh!t together. If you don't have your sh!t together, you shouldn't be allowed to stay in this country. I don't give 2 craps about your sob story if you can't behave properly, if you can't raise your children properly. Time to call a spade a spade.2 points

Hey! This just isn't about handguns in the urban/inner city, it's about every law-abiding gun owner that owns a firearm that the two twits deem as 'assault, military, or scary looking(to them) regardless of action style, mag capacity, colour, or visual style. I live in western Canada where long guns are used regularly, and where they are considered no more important than that wheel wrench to change your tire. Guides, outfitters, farmers/ranchers, hunters, target shooters are all in the sights of the Federal Liberals. This is a hunting culture where I live. We eat wild game and grow our vegetables . . . . and may 'look after things' if push comes to shove. Every gun owner should be concerned . . .1 point

The relevant point is 'he's just doing his job'. And I agree with him doing his job. I want him to do his job. I have no reason to make his job harder on him as long as he's polite and all he's asking is a simple question. It's like saying "Someone can ask you the time, but even if you have a watch on your wrist you have the right to not answer them." Yeah I know, but why would I be a dick?1 point

No, he quit rather than allow a very divisive time leading up to a review that could've torn the party apart. This now leads the way for them to select someone who can beat Trudeau.1 point

Mr. Sheer has demonstrated the strength and wisedom to put the Party first. His greatest achievement for the CPC was to save us from Bernier who would have driven the Party to an extinction which would have made the Kim Campbell disaster look like a landslide by comparison.1 point

Andrew Scheer is going. Good riddance. This is a guy with no noticeable charisma, who at least stood for something. He was a social conservative. But then he turned his back on that for political reasons and tried to move so far over on the left his policies were virtually identical to the Liberals. He refused to denounce his social conservative views but nor could he defend them. He thus came across as a weak, dishonest weasel. The Left called him a racist while the Right called him a cuck. Neither they nor anyone else considered him a strong leader, nor shrewd, nor a man of vision. There was simply no reason to vote for him other than to get rid of that moron currently in office. https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/andrew-scheer-is-resigning-as-conservative-leader-1.47273101 point

Carding is unconstitutional. That's not the problem. The elephant in the room is that our communities are decaying. Allowing poor, uneducated, unskilled classes of people from countries Canada has travel advisories on due to violence, gangs etc and expecting them to magically check that violent culture and gang activity at the airport gate when they arrive is ridiculous. We need to wake the hell up. These individuals are of no value to us, the only way they can get into Canada is by claiming refugee status or asylum, and when they're let in they go and live in the ghetto part of town in some filthy run-down apartment building, they can barely speak english or not at all, and when you can't get a job you start running drugs or guns or stealing cars or general thieving. You do that crap and you need to carry a handgun. At least the ones on welfare and nothing else aren't shooting up our communities, though i may not be able to say the same for their children, who don't have money or a hope in hell either.1 point

Guys calm down. The USMCA was and is ratified. Nothing has happened. Nothing. Pelosi, Trump, etc., have nothing to do with any delays. There were thousands of pages of regulations that had to be completed. It takes time to draft regulations.1 point

I ca not believe how you Trump groupies blindly ignore the evidence. No one not even Republicans denying what he did. If you think its acceptable for an elected leader to ask a foreign power to investigate someone that President is running against than good for you. That's the level of politics you accept. Most of us do not.The only thing partisan is the Republican Senate defending Trump because they are too spineless to defend the right of the America people to have a President who does not put himself above the laws of the state he was sworn to uphold. Trump has shown he can not grasp the difference between the best interests of the US and his own personal partisan needs and he was willing to blackmail a country in need of US help to harass someone running against him. The issue you partisan Trump supporters won't touch is why if Trump felt a crime had been done, he stayed out of it and let the proper police agency investigate. Why? Because he has partisan battles with the FBI, CIA and every agency in the US government. He has fired anyone who works for him non stop because he trusts no one. He has turned foreign relations over to his re-election man. Rudolph the Rednosed joker. How anyone can defend what Trump has done with his litany of firings, twitter rants, lack of statesmanship, forming alliances with Putin, Kim and Erdogan praising their facism, is beyond moi. Then again people love Putin, Hitler, Stalin. Erdogan, Trudeau and Kim Kardashian so I can only say I like Billy Eilish and think she should be President. I like that little wierd child. Great music. She shows a lot of insight.1 point

Too much media attention on politics. The political class and their media outlets need to be hemmed in, put under strict constraints. They should be punished when they overstep their bounds, when they lie, when their mouths run off.1 point

Canada (and the United States) have been criticized for doing exactly the same thing on a scale that makes Israel and the occupied territories a tiny speck in comparison. Unceded (stolen) land and associated claims /compensation remain contentious issues far longer than Israel has even existed. UN resolutions for indigenous rights continue to be ignored. Yes, you can indeed just grab land and make it yours...just blame the almighty "Crown" and empire !1 point

Criminals will always have the upper hand then. They can make guns or buy them illegally. The only people they will disarm is the law abiding good citizens. I agree with Moonlight Graham....our gun problem lies with what's coming into Canada. Toronto Police statistics show a 90% increase in people wounded by gunfire and a 48% increase in shootings (135 in 2015 compared to 91 in 2014). Meanwhile, there were 114 reported incidents of shootings without injuries as of July 15, compared to just 14 in 2014. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_Toronto 'Before the latest significant increase in violence on our streets, the tipping point is actually the elephant in the room. The maligned, misunderstood, so-called police “carding” which was made out to be a race issue. Its demise has provided added protection for the criminal element.' https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/opinion-to-fight-gun-crime-start-with-the-elephant1 point

It gets even worse! Ted Cruz: “A lawyer at the FBI creates fraudulent evidence, alters an email that is in turn used as the basis for a sworn statement for the court, that the court relies on. Am I stating that accurately?" Inspector General: “That is correct. That is what occurred.” Yet we have people in this forum that look at this and say...meh. It’s Trump so it doesn’t matter. People need to realize that acknowledging the seriousness of this doesn’t mean you have to think Trump didn’t do anything wrong, or doesn’t deserve to be impeached. But so far during the Trump’s first term, the McCarthyism era has been revived, as well as the J. Edgar Hoover era.1 point

In protest of the oppression of Muslim women you wish to oppress Muslim women. That should teach the Muslim women how oppressed they are. Domestic violence in Muslim families is something you might as well think about after you have tried to solve all the other lesser 'problems' first.1 point

No, and they won't grill Singh about Sikh beliefs on abortion. This one accuses Scheer of hiding behind his rosary beads? Maybe Scheer should just throw some at the reporters, this is now open bigotry again Catholicism. I’m not Catholic, I’m not religious but this is utterly tendentious drivel. I didn't see anyone grilling Trudeau or previous PMs about their religion, or Muslim MPs about Islam beliefs on homosexuality, they wouldn't dare. Https://nationalpost.com/opinion/colby-cosh-it-may-be-too-bad-but-scheer-cant-just-brandish-his-beads-at-reporters You can also support SSM and all the alphabet groups without marching in a raunchy parade that promotes left-wing cultural values and attitudes that are anti-police, anti-Semitic etc.1 point
