  1. The U.S. purchased the Virgin Islands from Denmark in 1917 for $25,000,000....just one acquisition in a long list. ....but because Trump suggests another purchase, he is demented ? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_territorial_acquisitions_table

  2. If your city was slammed by record-shattering heat this summer, you can partly blame the stuff the city itself is made of. The scorching temperatures across Europe and the U.S. in July were made worse by one of humanity’s most widely used but least-loved inventions: concrete.

  3. A new study done by the Fraser Institute shows the fiscal burden imposed on Canadians from its high immigration rate is now up to $30 billion per year. That is because immigrants have lower wages and thus pay less tax than other Canadians, while making use of more government resources. They also have a higher unemployment rate and, on average, more children, so receive more in benefits. Estimating the fiscal burden immigrants impose on Canadians requires data on the average taxes paid and government benefits received by immigrants. Data from the 2016 Census also cited by Gatehouse shows that the average income of recent immigrants aged 25-54 continues to fall short of that of non-immigrants, which means they continue to pay less in taxes on average. In our most recent study we used basic statistics from the previous census and the National Household Survey to estimate that because of Canada’s progressive income tax system, recent immigrants paid much lower income taxes than non-immigrants. We added to this amount other taxes related to income and wealth, such as the GST and capital gains taxes, and concluded that in 2008-09, recent immigrants on average paid $13,100 in tax compared with $18,000 paid by other Canadians, yielding a shortfall of $4,900 per year. https://business.financialpost.com/opinion/setting-the-record-straight-on-the-benefits-and-heavy-costs-of-immigration-to-canada

  4. I honestly like her, mostly because she is bringing the Democrat Party down. Nobody killed more Commies than Stalin.

  5. Is she? I don't follow them that closely, AOC should distance herself, I mean; "AOC" is literally a brand now.

  6. AOC is not stupid. She is starting to distance herself from that 2 wingnuts.

  7. Exactly...even on a bad day, Trump matters a lot more than weak ass Justin Trudeau.

  8. Alaska is very large too....bought from the Russians...over 100 years ago and considered folly at the time (Seward's Icebox). Denmark and Greenlanders apparently aren't too uppity to refuse American military bases and protection.

  10. Is there going to be any serious primaries within the Republicans against Trump? Usually even incumbent Presidents have had to face some village-idiots challenging them in primaries but unlike in 1980 when Ted Kennedy challenged Carter there has never been any serious threat to an incumbent President from his own party.

  11. Yes. A few tiny islands more than a hundred years ago versus the world’s largest island now. He didn’t even consider the role Greenlanders would have to play in any decision on this. It is grotesque idiocy on his part.

  12. Everybody is innocent until proven guilty where I come from, but I guess you can consider me to be un-Canadian by that then, I'm proudly un-Canadian actually, I'm going to go take the Red Ensign down and fly Old Glory instead, in honor of being un-Canadian. Deo Vindice.

  13. So, in your view, we do nothing, let them all back into their respective countries to roam freely. I find that view alien and un-Canadian. And quite naive to believe or even to argue that these people are innocent.

  14. Actually, President Trump has been remarkably consistent in using Twitter to keep the focus on....Trump. One would think that after three years, people would have figured out Trump's methods by now.

  15. Of course they have a strong reaction....health care is a business, and there is a reason the U.S. has higher costs and excess capacity. Providers are free to drop government insured patients with low reimbursement rates. Do you think doctors and other medical professionals went to school and took on debt just to work for relative peanuts in a government controlled health care system, or that all patients should welcome such a lack of health care options / access ?

  16. The Greenland affair stands out even by Trump’s standards. He has created a completely unnecessary problem with an ally and made himself look like an arrogant fool. The tweets have become a major cause of Trump Fatigue Syndrome among his more cognitively intact supporters.

  17. Yes, it IS getting ridiculouser folks ! Trump postpones Denmark trip after Prime Minister refuses to discuss sale of Greenland

  18. Ilhan Omar has 9% approval rating in key swing states, and AOC has 22% approval rating in key swing states. They couldn't do a better job sabotaging the Democrats if they were Republican moles.

  20. The irony of all this is that if the Mufti & crew had accepted the 1947 UN Partition Plan, they'd own Tel Aviv right now. But, no...the Mufti & friends were having none of that sharing with the Jews jazz. The pie was to be all theirs. They wanted Jordan too...but that's another tale. War was the answer. It's STILL their answer. These two terrorist supporters have no interest in sharing with the Jews, either. The "grandmother thing" pretty much proves Israel's point.

  21. The British are supposed to be our friends but they just unloaded a person on us who has far closer links to their country than ours for a bit of cheap publicity. We shouldn't have to deal with him and the Kurds certainly should not.

  23. Nonsense. Trump is simply an opportunist, he doesn't incite anything, he doesn't lead anybody, he susses out what others are saying, then he jumps on the bandwagon. As if Red Team didn't despise Blue Team and their America bashing homosexual transgendered illegal immigrant agenda with a passion before Trump showed up, I mean get real. Trump is just the messenger, he's a hired gun, he listens to what the base says, then he amplifies it for them. The Beltway Establishment left a huge chunk of the electorate out in the cold, Trump just swooped in and took advantage by making himself the spokesman for that massive disenfranchised cohort. The elites didn't service them, so they voted for the guy who was willing and able.
