  1. I'm not a big fan of Ford as PC leader although I believe it a good thing the PC party won the recent election. But yesterday I became more a fan upon hearing that Ford pulled no punches with Trudeau on both the carbon pricing issue and the illegal/irregular migrant fiasco. Trudeau looked uncomfortable in a photo taken with Ford that appeared in this morning's Toronto Star, while Ford was smiling and looked relaxed. And one of Ford's ministers was astonishingly and refreshingly blunt in laying the blame entirely on Trudeau and his government for the migrant crisis. Ford likely realizes public opinion is mainly on his side on these matters. With more conservative governments potentially looming in Quebec and Alberta, and with the NDP holding on by its fingernails in B.C., Trudeau could face some huge challenges ahead from the country's most populous and powerful provinces. Sunny ways and colorful socks might not overcome the obstacles in his way. Good.

  2. After everything he said about sexual assault and how he has treated members of his own government over whispers, he at least needs to own up to this groping allegation. Now personally I don't want him to resign, I prefer him to go down hard in 2019.

  4. Heard a good one today. We all know about the "ers" and "ums" that stunts the speech of our PM. Someone said he's "groping for words". Had to laugh at that one.

  5. As a retiree myself, who's not eligible to obtain these benefits when I turn 65 in the very near future and lose my already limited work benefits, I understand this sentiment. I believe that when he limited refugee health coverage, Harper noted that those covered by the program shouldn't have better taxpayer-funded benefits than are available to most seniors in this country. It's a matter of fairness, after all.

  6. It worked for Trump. Trump made immigration a topic to be dealt with and the people liked and heard what he said. This has nothing to do with racism or being anti immigrant but more to do with where and how our tax dollars are being spent or blown. It will no doubt cost the Canadian taxpayer's hundreds of millions of tax dollars every year for decades to come that Canadians cannot afford to see blown on all this legal and criminal illegal activity going on. It is a crime against Canadians when an illegal refugee or a legal refugee can get eye care and dental care at no cost to them while I have to pay for my glasses and dental care. There is definetly something wrong with this picture.

  9. Russian scientific and technological achievement over the past fifty or sixty years seem to mostly be related the huge amount of money they've put into military research and development. Aside from that they're pretty much an empty page.

  10. I like how it says “Public support (often aided by a diversity of prominent stakeholders) in indispensable,” A 'diversity of stakeholders'. Now who would that be? Uhm, immigration lawyers, who profit hugely from larger immigration and refugee numbers, and ethnic groups whose people are coming to Canada, mostly. Along with a handful of earnest, stupid progressive groups. Not to mention politicians who use immigration as a campaign tool to garner ethnic votes. Then there's big business. Big business loves mass immigration! It provides it with a ready supply of cheap, obedient labour, increases overall spending, and hey, as long as their taxes keep going down, there's no down side for them. Then it says "But most of those respondents believed the number of immigrants arriving every year was under 150,000. After they were told is has actually been 260,000 for the last few years, the number of people who then said they felt that was “too many” jumped from 23 to 32 per cent." Immigration is not 260,000. It's now 310,000 and the Liberals plan to raise it to 340,000 within the next two years. Wonder what polls would say about that if the ignorant sheep who think it's 'just right' were ever to be informed of the actual numbers.

  13. This is absolutely true! In fact, what the Americans learned (without overtly announcing), is that the initial idea of "Manifest Destiny" actually penalizes the country because they would have to take on the social responsibilities of its citizens. Instead, given the power of International trade and capitalism, it is more reasonable to OWN the resources, economy and access control of these but evade the literal responsibility of those places socially or politically. In fact, it is better for them to have countries that are more easy to manipulate by having less democratically minded systems as well as owning their economy.

  14. His policies inside United States are working fine and the economy is growing fast thanks to his policies and externally he is doing fine with North Korea and depending on whether he succeeds to topple the other axis of evil (Iran regime) then if yes to the latter his re-election will be guaranteed and not only that but he will go down in history as the most effective US president.

  19. "Freedom" for America is NOT "freedom" for those outside of America. You only need to 'defend' because you 'offend' outsiders when you treat the world as ONLY what is American. If you treated the rest of the world's members in the same way as you interpret yourself, you have better affect to improve circumstances at home. Note that America supported Canada's expense in military during the cold war ONLY to preserve American interests, not Canadian. The incidental nature of that to help Canadians is due to the TRADE-OFF you make to protect yourself. And note that your own particular view is only about a segregationist relative to the rest of the world. If you accept doing this, you have to expect that the rest of the world will demand you NOT have any fortunes outside of the borders of the U.S.. That is, you can't expect to exploit the rest of the world for you benefit but dump the losses on the other countries. Recent example: Setting up your "Target" stores up here in Canada by founding a 'Canadian' office, send up ONLY the inventory you want to dump but basing the impression of this 'legitimate' business as though identical in quality, then go bankrupt in OUR tax payers debt. This was used to 'save' your own country's company, "Target", by dumping its losses on us. This KIND of behavior is what you do and encourage (particularly by your political favor). And yet you act as though WE can't see the con? I have a heart for the United States. But only if and where the constitution there is extended in kind to all others reflectively. You can't expect to 'sell' the dream ONLY for your own and then complain that others demand doing whatever they can to GET THERE when your own arrogance is to forcefully use Military might to KEEP the outsiders failing in order for you to exploit its benefits. If you WANT to sincerely help others respect you, you have to TREAT them as you expect to be treated. And this IS why others are behaving this way. This logic is true of all other countries as well. But the only way we can get in sync is by breaking down borders, ...by HELPING other countries as though they were your own, not simply locking out those you also contribute to enhancing their own problems elsewhere to make yourself by contrast wealthier and more powerful.

  20. I like the idea of having this whole matter hanging over his head. I do hope it lasts until the next election. It provides opportunities to bring up how hypocritical he is. "Hand 'em high" he says.. Unless of course you're a Trudeau.
