This shit is way out of hand! People shouldn't be accosted when they're eating dinner or refused service for their political beliefs. The left is getting closer and closer to a violent confrontation - or worse. I hate to use the word "unhinged" because it has been used to often, but wow, all this Nazi talk and resist movement is just getting too much. I blame the media and people like DeNiro....Donnie Deutch - WTF. You see people making excuses and even encouraging this behaviour. Meryl Streep said (in reference to Trump) that language like that gives permission. She was right, but she should be addressing the radical leftists. The democrats and media are freaking out and manipulating unhinged people - this is not a good situation at all. Usually talking politics is fun, but I can't help to be worried at the rate in which the Trump Derangement Syndrone has/is ramping up.3 points

Let's be clear - there is no immigration crisis in Canada. We can handle the planned immigration of people who genuinely WANT to come to Canada and duly follow the application process. We have a developing crisis in bogus refugees, queue jumpers, economic migrants and those who would just try and sneak into the country. Anyone who is found to have entered Canada through any point other than an official crossing should be immediately turned back. It's lawyers and the refugee industry that has "championed" the extended appeal process that is given to people who should be given no more than one kick at the can. If not - no matter what the hand-wringers say - the true refugees being housed in camps are the ones that get shunted down the list - if not off it completely.2 points

I think we need to look at the future implications of mass migration. The more a society struggles to cope with uncontrolled migration, the more benefits will have to be curtailed for the broader population. As the Nobel prize winning economist Milton Friedman noted: "It's just obvious you can't have free immigration and a welfare state." And others, including the British economist Sir Paul Collier, have noted that one of the significant impacts of open large-scale migration is to undermine social cohesion, whereby established taxpaying citizens tend to lose interest in paying for expensive programs that disproportionately benefit those in the population who haven't paid into these programs. So, accepting mass migration as either desirable or inevitable brings with it a whole host of other implications that many might be very hesitant to accept, including likely declining support for universal health care and pension programs. We may have to move to the American system, where those who are eligible to receive these benefits are mainly those who've paid into them for decades. Those progressives who think we can have open migration within a welfare state based on anything close to universal access are burying their heads in the sand.2 points

Back to Sarah and the Red Hen: Just saw on the news that people are protesting outside but only one arrest... the owner who actually followed Sarah to another restaurant with a group of people to continue harassing her, has resigned a position she held and the place will stay closed for a while longer. Meanwhile the House could expel Waters for encouraging mob violence against Trump supporters, but that won't happen, she'll just play the race card.1 point

You know there's a reason why his cabinet positions aren't readily filled by enthusiastic talents. But some that answer the call are really good American serving under him despite the rhetoric and political chaos. His administration is not half bad. There's a few bad apples but the important positions are filled with the right people. They actually enjoy his support because he's easily convinced.1 point

So did Trump in his tweets this morning. You should respond to them and explain to him how everything will be okay.1 point

If you want your argument to be taken seriously, maybe you should consider using more temperate language. Views on the trade debate, as well as on Trump's temperament and approach, vary widely.1 point

Trump's engaging in a phony tariff war with the EU and Canada, although it's not clear to me that he fully understands the situation. Jobs will be lost in the U.S. as firms move to serve EU markets, in particular, with EU-produced products. Canada may not have this kind of market leverage but it appears most Americans don't see Canada as part of the bigger trade problem in any case. Sure, Canada shelters some sectors, including through supply management, but the U.S. also provides enormous subsidies to some sectors in its economy, including agriculture and aerospace. There are no virgins in the trade game, even where friends are considered. The elephant in the room, of course, is China, but I think Trump is approaching that country in an unproductive fashion. The more important issue is the WTO system, which grants China developing economy status and privileges. Trump should be working with other Western countries to reach an agreement with China. Instead, he's huffing and puffing and p***ing everybody off. He likes the image of being the playground bully, but this comes with consequences. Leaders in China and Russia are probably laughing about the impact of his antics on America's traditional alliances.1 point

He'll be celebrating Canada's 151st birthday. This, from a PM who told India that Canada was only 100 years old..........no, really, he did.1 point

Some people may not like it, but Trump is doing something good for the world. His vision is FAIR TRADE: no barriers, no subsidies, no tarriffs. An equal playing field for all. A healthy competition is good for the consumers. That will tremendously benefit consumers! Just seeing supply management gone, is a win for us Canadian consumers - enough of this price-fixing! If as the government rationalizes they have supply management to control waste because of too much milk production (if milk is plentiful) - why on earth are we paying so much for a basic food? Prices are inflated! If prices of commodities go down, people can stretch their pennies farther, people will be able to afford more, you won't need a wage-hike! Anyway, what good is a wage-hike if the prices go up with it???1 point

What do you think Trump meant when he said "second amendment people" would take care of Hillary if she were elected? Do you think Trump shares your concern that there might be civil war or do you think inciting that might be part of his marching orders from Putin? Remember when he said "I don’t know if I’ll do the fighting myself or if other people will." That one was in reference to going after Black Lives Matter people.1 point

I agree, this whole partishanship business has gone long enough. Its been almost two years since the election and and both sides are still raging at each other. There's no need for extremist groups like anti-fa and alt-right to even make headlines. But they are. I want to see a change of tone in the media, stop stoking more tension. Validate your concern out of the need for improving our goverment not out of your need to criticize someone because you don't like him. Stuff like stormy daniels and nazi comparison does nothing to improve the govermemt, only distract and stoke tension.1 point

How are you different from Imams who call for Jews to be put to death? Hate speech is hate speech, even when its a White "Nationalist" calling for the death of Muslims.1 point

Drivel. The Muslim issue with Jews began with the Koran and the Hadiths. It has nothing to do with Palestine, which is merely a convenient stalking horse. Muslim's are outraged at oppression and killing in Palestine? Yet every single Muslim nation is more oppressive towards its own people than Israel is, practices torture and executions, and periodically engages in slaughter such as we see in Iraq, Yemen and Syria without their fellow Muslims showing any concern. So pardon me if I'm not taken in by their crocodile tears for Palestinians.1 point

Mullahs language is not to start a conversation with them. They will negotiate their way out of it.... 1- Unilateral and systematic sanctions by US as well as ass kissers of mullahs namely UK, France and Germany on ‘Sepah’ and other governmental organisations. 2- Freezing mullah’s assets in Swiss and other foreign bank accounts. 3- Targetted surveillance of activities by Sepah through charitable organisations where they “waste” Iranian’s money on buying arms and building the infrastructure of other countries rather than helping Iranians. The only language a mullah will understand is force! Weaken their position by cutting off the money supplies that they use to prop up their survival. This will give ammunition to people to come out in masses. Any killings of people in masses will be met by force.1 point

Remember the Syrians? The Conservatives had a plan, prioritizing those most in need and ensuring those we didn't want didn't come here. They moved Yazidis and Christians to the head of the line, for example, since they were the most in danger. Then along came Trudeau. "We don't care who they are," he said. "Just get them here fast! Any warm body will do! I have to pad my numbers!" Well, it seems like among those numbers are ISIS slavers. At one gruesome point, Nada told me through an interpreter during our hour-long interview at an educational meeting on the Yazidi situation this past Sunday, Nada and her children were forced to watch four men being beheaded. Eventually, because Nada speaks fluent Arabic and could pass as Muslim, she was able to escape with her children and contact family members in Kurdistan, who paid for smugglers to take them there Canada accepted Nada and her children, but not her father or sister. She has been living in London, Ont., for eight months. Recently, on a bus, she recognized X — the slave-market boss who had owned her and used her for months. They got off at the same stop. X saw her, covered his face and ran off. http://nationalpost.com/opinion/barbara-kay-the-yazidis-are-on-the-brink-of-extinction-canada-must-do-more1 point

The feds have always done their best to disguise just how much immigration and refugees cost us with bland, unsupported statements of how great it all is for our economy.1 point

When the Conservatives were in power - Harper and his boys were always the "mean spirited" bunch. Conservatives are always depicted that way. They took those lumps from the Left all through their 10 years. No sense trying to defend their policies but they certainly didn't allow for uncontrolled "refugees" flooding across the border - or taking in 25,000 Syrians in such a short time without the right support. No - it's a Liberal problem right now - largely created by Trudeau. Bad decisions, bad execution.1 point

Ali first claimed refugee status in Canada in 1986, arriving from the United States. The lawsuit acknowledges he provided authorities with a fake name before admitting his real one a week later. I don't understand why we can't turn these people back at the border? What's wrong with saying, "Look, we don't know who you are or where you're from and you refuse to tell us, so we're not letting you in."? Then let him sue us on his own dime.1 point

Here, in a nutshell, is a prime example of the problems we have with both our refugee system and our judicial system. A guy is suing the government for almost $60 million for violating his charter rights. He's an illegal immigrant who's been in detention for years while we've tried to deport him. He's also a career criminal. Oh ,in case you wonder who's paying for his lawsuit - that's us. http://ottawacitizen.com/news/politics/stateless-man-jailed-for-seven-years-while-canada-tried-to-deport-him-sues-for-57-5-million/wcm/f0352a67-6a21-48a1-bc7f-2c2a64ec7aa01 point

I credit my father's bad example as a belligerent, controlling patriarch, and my mother's good example of standing up and refusing to be cowed by him, as the reason why I grew up with a strong belief in women's rights and have tried to practice equality in my home. After 30 years of official marriage, I still want my wife to be with me because she wants to be with me/not because of obligation or that I need a female to exploit!1 point

I have a problem with anyone being charged with a hate crime when someone is expressing their right to their opinion and points of view even if it does appear to some people to appear be hatred of some sort. Where is Johnston promoting any kind of hatred or violence towards anyone? I never see it. Kevin Johnston is only being harassed because he is pointing out and telling it like it is and that goes against political correctness. As far as I can see Johnston has done nothing wrong except maybe hurt someone sensitive feelings. Why and when did hurting someones feelings has now become a terrible crime in Canada? Can I now be able to have the right to have someone now charged for hurting my feelings also? What is going on in this country that we have gone this far that hurting someone's feelings has now become a major crime? And then one member wonders why I am starting to lose my loyalty to Canada. I never asked that I wanted to live in a communist country. It's no wonder that with all the liberals, red Tories, communists and socialists running this country we are well on our way to becoming a Stalinist communist country. My opinion of course.0 points
