  1. I really do think it boils down to just an element of human biology. No real need to make a big deal of it anymore. It's all genetics - and it should be taught as such - in the proportion that it deserves. To the kids: "you've seen people with red hair.....these people comprise 2% of the population. People with blue eyes? 8% of the population. There are also Gay people who are - through their genetic make-up - attracted to their own sex. Our best estimate is about 5% - or one out of 20. Whether it's red hair - or blue eyes - or being Gay - it's all part of how we are put together. Keep it simple - kids will figure it out.

  3. I think political parties should be abolished. every person who claims to represent their constituancy should be doing exactly that. not what their leader tells them to vote for. When someone has a good idea it should be supported. Not oh, thats an ndp idea so you have to vote against it etc. All the persons who are elected can then vote for a leader. Everybody has a say in the budget as it affects everybody. That way no party whips exist. The right of the people to fire for cause no severence. When your term is up thats it no big fat payouts.

  4. It's also common sense that kids have enough sex awareness at a very young age to know what they should do if a predator tries to exploit them. I remember the days of the 1960s when kids didn't know enough about what was going on to report the creeps that abused them.

  6. It is indoctrination. Cradle to grave. And they want to get their hands on children as early as they can - why do you think they're so determined with universal daycare?

  7. The more fundamental problem is the eroded ability to trust anything or anyone. What politicians are not subject to is the surveillance they subject us to. I would suggest outlawing in-camera lobbying might be enough to shock our system back to some semblance of normalcy. I doubt any existing political party would ever be willing to do this until a new party emerges that dedicates itself to total public awareness of virtually everything in the public's domain. To put a finer point on where I'm coming from; Instead of constituents seeking information thru a Freedom of Information Act politicians and bureaucrats should require a Privilege to Secrecy Act in which they apply to have something kept secret.

  8. Exactly, it's to score political points which is why the Dems won't help pass legislation. It's my understanding that the GOP doesn't have enough votes. without the Dems.

  9. JT might be a bit putzy, sadly I have to agree somewhat with that assessment a couple of years into his term. However, I still would rather have him than a sinkhole like Trump.

  12. CHUCK SCHUMER: "Illegal immigration is wrong--plain and simple. Until the American people are convinced that we will stop future flows of illegal immigration, we will make no progress on dealing with the millions of illegal immigrants who are here now." (2009) What changed? This 2017 report details widespread use of family separation as a matter of policy pre-Trump. It is willful ignorance to pretend that this was not a regular feature of U.S .immigration policy before Trump. https://www.judiciary.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/KIND%20-%20Betraying%20Family%20Values.pdf …

  13. Iranian women in Sport stadium. Asian champion, Iran soccer team may have narrowly lost to 2010 world champion Spain in a tight match however, Iranian women appears to have fought hard and won a long standing struggle to enter sport stadiums. Believe it or not in this 21 century some backward ruling clergy in Iran have banned Iranian women from entering sports stadiums. (the daughters of those who were granted freedom and equality by progressive Pahlavi dynasty who ruled Iran for 50 golden years). https://edition.cnn.com/2018/06/20/football/iran-spain-world-cup-russia-2018-spt-intl/index.html Struggle for total equality for women in all aspects of life will continue and all rights including the right to choose what to wear, who to marry, equal heritage, right to travel without permission, right to divorce, equal division of assets after divorce and equal right to child custody, etc. are just around the corner. Struggle will continue by all Iranians until democracy is achieved in Iran. The thread title says Iran needs some democracy. But Iran nation would settle for nothing short of total democracy and equality for all which would ONLY be achieved by complete and total removal of Islamic regime.

  14. In QP today ndrewScheer asked justin Tudeau about the spending on the cottage at Harrington Lake so Trudeau stood up to say he was elected to invest in the middle class and that is what they are doing. Tone deaf or just stupid

  16. Well, they did admit on the other forum that they are only here to troll. “In March of 1993, The United States Supreme Court issued a ruling in Flores vs Reno. (Yes, “That” Reno. Janet Reno, Bill Clinton’s first Attorney General who ordered that young Elian Gonzalez be torn from his parents arms while hiding in a Miami closet. You might remember the iconic photograph.) The Court decided that minors could not be incarcerated with the adults accompanying them across the United States border illegally. The decision was the result of a long dispute in how to best care for these children while the adults were detained for criminal proceedings. https://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/91-905.ZS.html

  18. Well, we wouldn't likely talk about atheism if we didn't talk about religion, would we? Logically speaking, religion begets atheism. Religion is essentially superstition, particularly where the major monotheistic religions are concerned. If you study the origins of religion you understand that it largely developed out of folk superstitions. It eventually became institutionalized and monopolized, mainly in an effort to exert social and economic control over populations, which of course rendered it dangerous. In some parts of the world, however, religion exists mainly in the form of spiritualism, as is the case in some Eastern religions and among many Indigenous peoples. Perhaps the most enlightened religious perspective is one that isn't, in the Western context, a true religion at all, Confucianism, which is grounded in humanistic and rationalistic philosophy. The world could survive and thrive without organized religion. The real concern is whether it can survive with it?

  19. But it's OK when Obama did the same thing (e.g. Keystone XL, DRIC, NATO, "Buy American", etc.) ??? So I guess it just depends on who is doing the "screwing", eh ?

  20. It is not "unpatriotic" to criticize Justin Trudeau, regardless of Trump's antics. Justin Trudeau is a putz...there...I said it. Trudeau was failing badly even in Canadian media long before Trump's remarks/tariffs.

  21. What does my question have to do with Trump? It's a very straight forward question. Have you been drinking, or are you simply refining the art of stupid to new levels? If you are questioning my patriotism then I suggest you shut up, get off your ass and march on down to the nearest recruiting center. There you can sign up and devote two decades or more of your life to your country. When you do that I'll listen to anything you have to say about patriotism. Until then all you're doing is spouting off so much hot air.

  22. Obviously Canada does not have a comparable, robust media source for all views to be presented, perhaps by design: 1) The state funded and controlled broadcaster CBC (television and radio) is dependent on continued government support or it would fail in the marketplace. 2) Hate speech laws are used to stifle dissent and freedom of expression 3) Canadians already have access to bigger/better print, broadcast, and cable news media from the U.S., U.K, and other nations. 4) Canada's political media market is further diluted by regionalism, language, and multiculturalism. So enjoy Fox News, while other Canadians enjoy many other American news media outlets directly or as surrogate feeds (e.g. Associated Press). Even the social media networks that Canadians use to discuss politics are American (Facebook, Twitter, Google, YouTube, etc.). Hate America...love American media !

  23. Any speech is hate speech when it starts to pose danger for others. You must prove your claims in legal manners or you must not be allowed to speak. You cant disturb others just because of you dont like somethings. Iraq was invaded based on "unlimited freedom of speech". Britain claimed unreal things and they invaded Iraq together US. After long years and millions of deaths, Britain simply said that the claims were false.
