Refugee crossings up tenfold in just the last month. Wait until spring, when floods of them will be coming in thanks to Trudeau's invitation. There are millions of illegals in the US, and none of them want to go home to poverty when they can go north. “We have virtually no resources at the border,” says Christian Leuprecht, a political science professor at Royal Military College and Queen’s University. “The way (the Mounties) respond is when the Americans tip them off.” And, in any event, he says, “once someone reaches the border it’s too late (to stop them),” even if we wanted to. Anyone who can plant his feet on Canadian soil is entitled to make a claim for asylum. http://news.nationalpost.com/full-comment/chris-selley-as-trumps-refugees-stream-into-canada-will-our-immigration-policies-hold-up2 points

Good luck with that...Canada can't help itself when it comes to continuing to screw and abuse Haiti/Haitians. https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2016/07/30/ottawa-may-help-alleged-victims-of-un-peacekeepers.html1 point

I would like to keep that $2, thank you. 70 million Canadian tax dollars should be spent in Canada, on Canadians, not on another country. It's my money too, and I do not want to see my tax dollars being blown on people who live in other countries. Canada is in debt for billions and is starting to head for trillions. Is this what you want to see for Canada? Private banksters making millions while Canadians and Canada continue to go deeper in debt. It is time for some common sense and logic here, not emotionalism. Emotionalism is killing this country. Enough already.1 point

Well then what are we suppose to call people from China if not Chinaman? If they come from France we call them frenchmen or Englishman from Britain. Political correctness is stupid.1 point

Canada shouldn't spend a dime extra on NATO until America cleans up its Russia mess. Someone normal will be president in a few short years. We can re-visit the contribution then.1 point

Kushner, his mother and Ivanka are also Deutsche Bank clients but until I learn otherwise, I will assume they do pay their debts. Still, Trump's advisors are beholden to foreign banks. There is no telling how much this man is compromised by banks, institutions and governments around the world, but his supporters will just ignore it all and blather on about Benghazi and Hillary's email server.1 point

It's all good....Bill Clinton dodged service as well, but still became president. 'Course now, he was impeached. Good enough for Clinton...good enough for Trump.1 point

Perhaps that actual infirmity wouldn't have been recognized by the military as a reason not to serve. I don't think it takes a high IQ to fire an M-16.1 point

Stuart was also a documentary producer and here is one I found interesting. http://www.cbc.ca/radio/popup/audio/listen.html?autoPlay=true&clipIds=&mediaIds=878670915622&contentarea=radio&subsection1=radio1&subsection2=currentaffairs&subsection3=the_doc_project&contenttype=audio&title=2017/02/16/1.3962012-celebrating-a-side-of-stuart-mclean-you-may-not-know-documentary-maker&contentid=1.39620121 point

A colleague of mind whose wife is in Health care was saying that the flow of refugees putting real strain on our already sick health care system. Refugees coming here with all kinds of diseases (I am referring to refugees not immigrants who are vigorously screened for health and diseases) and then they need immediate care. They have never been tax payers never contributed to Canadian society in any way but they jump out of the boat and suddenly demand equal health care and then seniors citizens who are born here and have contributed to the tax system for many decades are left in blue or have to wait for long line up and likely die or get worse before it is their turn. What kind of justice system is this? And before someone accuse me of being fascist or anti-immigrant or white supremacist I let know that I am an immigrant myself but work my way up through university and been a tax payer over 20 years so I expect SAME from everyone else who chooses Canada to as the homeland to live.1 point

ANYTHING that codifies or even recognizes religious nonsense has no business in Parliament. Religion has proved to be a disaster for anyone or any place that let's it dictate their laws, life or customs, so let's just do what good government should do and separate church completely from state. Who gives a flying purple frick what the hell someone says about another's "religion" - whatever the hell (word chosen carefully) that is supposed to be. Look: we have 7 billion people living on a nice, little one billion room planet. If the religious fruitcakes want to call each other names and kill each other, it is simply Darwin's observation of the weak cleaning out the mentally deficient if we are to have any chance of surviving as a species.1 point

Fox & Friends seems to have tried to ignore the latest nonsense in lieu of reporting about some South American newspaper who posted a picture of Alec Baldwin playing Trump in a story that was actually about Trump. Their nose seems to be out of joint but I think most of us are laughing our heads off. Go Alec!1 point

One of the reasons I appreciate CBC radio so much is I could travel,(and did) from Inuvik to St. Johns and many a place in between and tune in and get a laugh from Stuart. Maybe since I am of Scottish descent and maybe if I happen to meet a Chinese man named Wong, I will try and strike up a deli somewhere named 'Wong's' Scottish Meat pies" and see how we do. And of course sell/trade a bit of vinyl as well.1 point

I have followed this man since I first discovered him on a radio in a hangar in northern BC I was hanging around waiting for the weather to improve. I had just moved into a new place and didn't have my own radio yet. Next day I was out buying one and have been enriched ever since by the likes of Stuart. He will be missed.1 point

Gun is simpler but much less efficient. Gun types are also not as easy to put atop a missile as a warhead. Still...bye bye Hiroshima. The rewards are evident. But who needs an ICBM when a tramp freighter sitting off Tel Aviv can do the deed? In that sense, I'd worry about Iran making a 'wet' thermonuclear device like Ivy Mike. Probably well within their science...-1 points

At the joint press conference with EU in Strasbourg, France......when someone commented about his "gymnastics" this week regarding his meeting with Trump, and now his meeting with EU........Trudeau was very, very careful with his answer. He didn't dare deliver any potshots at Trump.-1 points

A nuclear weapon can fit on the end of a SCUD. The UN Resolution says NO missiles that can carry a nuclear weapon. None. You can dance all you wish about the range the thing has...or will have...or used to have. And when your ballistic missile has a CEP of over a kilometer, it better have a nuke on the tip. Now why don't you run along rather than claim I'm spreading alt-facts?-1 points

A lot of people receive hate mails, and death threats. There are a lot of sick people out there. Especially when you go online - you don't know who you're dealing with. One of the messages she quoted says: "Why did Canadians let her in? Ship her back." Was that written by a Canadian? Doesn't sound like it. Anyway....that's not an answer. No one defined Islamophobia in this motion. That's the point. (I put it big and red for you, so you'll know what's the issue).-1 points
