LinkSoul60 Posted October 23, 2025 Report Posted October 23, 2025 'Mr Poilievre, how would you react to Donald Trump's automotive tariffs' Well, um, uhhhh Mark Carney said he'd have a deal and he doesn't... Oh yeah, we'd eliminate the EV mandate (which Carney has already delayed and subject to further review as things evolve), and we'd eliminate sale tax on Canadian made vehicles. 'So Mr Poilievre, you really don't have an answer do you?'. Well everyone deserves to live in their own home on a safe street, blah blah blah... Every single time he opens his mouth his ass is one step closer to being punted as the Con leader... Quote

Zero quality, the joke was that they used Coke cans for the metal in the bodies. Japanese quality was horrible for many years. That's what the same people who badmouth EVs no said then Honda was as niche as Isuzu at first, they weren't seller until the late 70s. In the mid 70s the used Datsun 510s filled campus lots. But you're right, took the gas crises for the Big 3 to small cars. I had one of those Omnis, about the worst POS I ever saw. The wife has the same year Civic. Guess which lasted til the kods came along, which one got traded ASAP. (We did our honeymoon thru the Rockies in that Civic. My ears are still ringing driving that sewing machine for 2 weeks) 1 Quote

It is a fact that you said that it's wrong and you look like a twat but it is a fact that you did so Quote Fact: EV's are not a "Key Industry" in Canada. Nothing "cheezy" about that. Even your cohorts agree with that. HA HA HA Well first off the "industry" is the automotive industry as the article notes, and i'm afraid you're entirely wrong. Car manufacturing IS in fact a key industry in Canada, especially ontario. Secondly... ev manufacture is in fact a key industry in the liberals' economic plan. They have committed tens of billions dollars trying to get ev and battery manufacture up and running. This was a critical component to their 'only ev cars by 2030" mandate. And it was supposed to supplant ice manufacture. This was a VERY key industry for the economic plan moving forward. And most importantly.... that is the TITLE OF THE ARTICLE LOLOLOLOL It's not my 'opinion' stupid, it's literally the headline of the article I didn't "claim" anything! ROTFLMAO!!!! Hoy SHIT, you didn't even realize it did you! LOL My god How on earth do you constantly manage to look so DUMB? Took all of the 1950s to clue into VW sales and rushed out Corvairs and Falcons. Saw the Japanese and responded eventually with Pintos and Shitettes. In this case, it wasn't even GM, it was the MAGA full speed backwards abandonment of the whole idea. Why cut your costs with an EV when drill baby drill will mean gas will be 39c a gallon again soon. The problem with EV's is that they still aren't practical. To drive an EV in the winter here you need to heat the battery as well as the cabin, and both draw a lot of energy. Add to that the energy to accelerate a car or keep it going at hwy speeds, that's 3 large drains simultaneously and continuously. Batteries just don't do well with a high, steady output. The advantage that gas cars have is that there is a lot of excess energy created in the form of heat which can be used to warm the cabin, and you don't have to heat the gas tank either. At worst you might have to add a bit of gas-line antifreeze a few days a year. A regular car that gets 1,200km on the highway in August still gets 1,200 km on the hwy in January. An EV that theoretically gets 500km in August might get 150km in January when it's really cold. Not only that, it still just takes 2 minutes to get a car from 0% to 100%. With an EV you can only really fast-charge 55% of its capacity, because when its below 25% you can't hypercharge, and when it's above 80% you can't hypercharge either. Even if you put the vehicle on a hypercharge station, it will only draw power at the stage 2 level, or even stage 1. So, if you have an electric vehicle with a 500km range, you only get to use hypercharging when the battery has above 125km, and below 400km. Outside of that it's going to charge at the rate of stage 2 or stage 1. Hybrids are still excellent. They get the best of both worlds: ultra-quick refuelling, and when you break, the car's kinetic energy goes back into the battery instead of dissipating into the air off of your brakes. EVs suck, unless you are a local-area-only driver. I have family in Yellowknife and asked them if there EV's up there and they said yes, lots of them. They seem to work just fine. They also said the range is severely compromised but they are still being used. I think EV's do have a place with us. Primarily as commuter cars in cities. BS, as I said earlier, I have family in Yellowknife and they have a lot of EV's and they are doing very well Also, most people do not travel over 600KMs so they are perfect for the average person "EVs accounting for 17% of new car sales in Canada in 2024. " "As of 2023, there were over 500,000 zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) on Canadian roads, " "in the first three quarters of 2024, there were approximately202,103 new battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) and 68,882 new plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) registered"So you are very much out of touch on EV usage LOL Quote You are entitled to your opinion, but you are not entitled to tell me what mine should be.
