CdnFox Posted September 25, 2025 Report Posted September 25, 2025 Carney government quietly dropped more U.S. counter-tariffs than advertised | CBC News The federal government quietly removed more counter-tariffs on American goods than initially advertised, according to an order-in-council published online. The notice published last month indicates that, with the exception of sectoral tariffs for the steel, aluminum and auto industries, all Canadian retaliatory tariffs have been removed — in apparent contradiction to what the prime minister had said about the decision. So he lied. Again. Elbows down, pants as well. He might as well wear a dog collar with a gold pin of trump on it. 1 Quote "That which doesn't kill me... Had better start running."

Yes but he's trotting around the world having meetings to sign resolutions to have talks about signing resolutions. Those resolutions will be to consider the prospects of doing things to enable us to do more things with the prospect of possible outcomes that enable things to possibly get done. All of this can be unburdened by what has been, as the great Bard said... "friends Romans countrymen, lend me you money to buy some outrageous fortune". 1 Quote

eyeball Posted September 26, 2025 Report Posted September 26, 2025 It appears numbers coming out tomorrow should indicate Canada will dodge a recession that was predicted due to Trump's tariffs. I suspect higher prices to pay them would definitely have pushed us into one. Remember, tariffs are a tax paid by us to our government. Kudos to the Liberals for not availing themselves of it. 1 Quote I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, oh fanatical criminal
eyeball Posted September 26, 2025 Report Posted September 26, 2025 In the meantime Canadians are pulling all sorts of weight on their own and kicking Uncle Sam below the belt with boycotts. The government should spend some effort highlighting that, thanking Canadians for all the elbow grease and encourage more of the same. Huzzah! 1 Quote I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, oh fanatical criminal

You’d think Carney would have known that when he promised retaliatory tariffs. Regardless, Carney will push us into recession next year. 2 hours ago, eyeball said: In the meantime Canadians are pulling all sorts of weight on their own and kicking Uncle Sam below the belt with boycotts. I was the first one who actually pointed out his very first official lie around here. 29 minutes ago, Shady said: In the meantime Carney is paying China a billion dollars to build boats for BC, while China still has massive tariffs on Canadian goods. Huzzah! We have massive tariffs on China too. And as you well know by now or should, I was preaching no truck nor trade with China way back when Argus was. Decades ago. No truck nor trade with China...Ring a bell? You would usually respond by asking why I hate capitalism or something. Anyways we're still dodging a recession and apparently you'd like to be paying more taxes. Thanks for the new boats btw. You should be aware tariffs a e a tax on us, Canadian consumers. Removal is the right thing to do. Why should we pay tariffs for things we need? Removing tariffs make things cheaper for us. Or do you not like the idea of making things cheaper for Canadians? 9 hours ago, Shady said: In the meantime Carney is paying China a billion dollars to build boats for BC, while China still has massive tariffs on Canadian goods. Huzzah! Clearly, once again, you have no idea of what you are talking about. The Federal government had nothing to do with the BC ferry contract or decision. Furthermore, when request for proposals went out, there was no Canadian company that even requested the documents to make a bid. Only foreign companies bid and guess what? A foreign company won the bid. The BC government made all the choices and decisions. China has retaliatory tariffs on goods as we put 100% tariff on Chinese EV's first. He informed us that ones affecting CUSMA would not change and then he had reasons to examine others and cut the ones that are best for Canadians.
