I think there exists a market incentive to do exactly that. Getting caught is another matter.

Trump just simply look at the number of steel you import from China and see what you sell to us. He can put the two number together. But don’t forget the entire point, which is to stop buying Chinese and build out your own steel capacity here in North America. The tariff is for your own good, you’re welcome Canada.

Well the problem is that we've bought chinese steel and then mixed it with our own steel and sold it as canadian steel.

That bypasses the tariff on chinese steel in the us. That has been a sore point for a bit

Huh? You make it sound like Canada melts the steel China sells us and blends it with ours, or that we somehow launder Chinese steel products into Canadian shipments.

Would it be too much to ask for a cite for whatever you're talking about?

People usually have a cite in hand before stating something that otherwise sounds really unlikely. But take your time finding something...think quality over quantity.

We did. For quite some time. The US had tariffs on Chinese steel before, and it wound up being sold to the us through Canada.

The whole melting it down thing is just some weird idea your brain came up with. But it would be stamped Canadian. So shipments to the states could include Canadian and Chinese Steel

And this is absolutely predictable, in fact the same thing is happening right now. Thailand and other places are being used to ship chinese steel around the tariff.

And it's hardly the only product, I'm sure you will recall the stories of how Russian oil was being sold to Canada as well.

You're such an amazing lying sack of shit, You know all of this is true but you're going to have a freak out and somehow pretend that somebody said our steel was being melted down or some such stupidity.

Canada was selling Chinese steel to the Americans and claiming it was Canadian. That was a major problem trump had with Canada. Learn to read and if your brain can't remember stuff for more than 5 minutes learn to write stuff down

All right, if I give you a cite what do i get? You NEVER produce cites of your own, always demand it, then when i give you one you pretend not to have ever seen it.

So if i'm going to do the work, what are you willing to put up?

I have a few cites in hand :)  You can literally have them right this second, all you need to do is offer something to make it worth it :)

All you ever do is lie, and all of you going to do is lie if I post it then there's no point is there?

So, what are you prepared to do. I can put them up right this millisecond if you want. But seeing as you never ever provide a cite ever and every time i do you either pretend i never did or argue the source lets hear what you're prepared to do this time :)

No no, the burden of proof is on the accused. You must convince this kangaroo court of your claim.

No I don't. You're denying that it's the case so the burden upon you is to prove the denial. If you were saying it's not true then if you're not saying it's not true then we agree so what's the problem?

We both know that your point is to try and distract from the truth not to get to the truth

China was transshipping steel to the us through Canada. This is a thing that happened. That was trump's concerns the first go around and that's easily verifiable with a simple Google search. That was the trade concern that they had for a long time

Most of what's happening now and since late 2024 is to address that. Canada has promised that it will not be a backdoor moving forward for Chinese steel into America. Canada will be imposing tariffs on china still as well to make it much more difficult. And they are trying to look at ways to prevent china from moving their steel into canada through other countries.

Deal with the facts kiddo, and a guy who never provides his own cites doesn't get to ask others for theirs for free,

Basically I just want to hear you say you don't think it's true and then slam your face in the fact that it is so let's hear what you'll do for me :)

In the past we have had a problem with chinese using Canada as a conduit to get steel into the US past tariffs

Since 2024 and even slightly earlier there's been a major effort to try and address that.

One of the main reasons that trump insisted that we put a tariff on the Chinese steel that's similar to his own which we just did is to prevent the Chinese being able to sell the steel to Canada tariff free and then move it into the states, although I see carney is trying to spin it as somehow protecting Canada. The other scam is to have Canadian companies buy and use the cheaper chinese steel and sell "canadian" steel to the us instead although often the chinese steel is mixed in with the Canadian steel shipments

China does not export a lot of steel or aluminum directly to the United States. A succession of presidents and Commerce Department rulings have already imposed many tariffs on steel from China. Tariffs have also gone up lately on Chinese aluminum. Just last September, President Joseph R. Biden Jr. raised existing tariffs on many Chinese steel and aluminum products by up to 25 percent.

Yet lately, China’s steel and aluminum exports are on the rise because its economy is struggling, sapping domestic demand. Many of these low-cost exports have gone to American allies like Canada and Mexico, which in turn export significant shares of their own more expensive output to the United States.

Yes, there is evidence that China transships steel to the US through Canada, and both countries have taken steps to prevent this. The issue is specifically mentioned in agreements between the two nations, particularly regarding preventing the importation of steel unfairly subsidized or sold at dumped prices and preventing transshipment.

So let me get this straight: Canada is a training ground for Khalistani terrorists, islamic terrorists who want to attack Canada and the US, we're a conduit for the Chinese gov't to sell their steel in the US and bypass other US sanctions, and we're the manufacturing hub for most of North America's fentanyl supply? (yay we're the best at manufacturing something)

We don't deserve the Stanley Cup.

There's nothing more in these sources other than evidence of American suspicions and baseless accusations.

That Canada has to respond to US concerns by blowing smoke up its ass shouldn't prevent us from rolling our eyes along with everyone else at the big Orange Crybaby and his Canadian lickspittles.
