Conservatives restore double digit lead over Liberals: poll | National Post

Whoopsie doodle.

Well that evaporated quickly. Although the liberals are still doing better under carney than they would have under trudeau. most of that support is coming at the expense of the ndp, at 13 percent.

I suspect the liberals will continue to fall after carney wins and people take a more serious look at him. Just too many gaffes.

This is the liberals shiny knight armor....see 3.15 minutes of the below NDP video...While he sat as chair, he was avoiding paying Canadian taxes, infact brookfield was Canada's number one tax dodger....he placed his role as chair over his country....Is this the guy we want running the country ?

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

More and more of this is coming out. And as it gets distributed people will be less and less interested in him.

And I have a suspicion they're going to delay the election. And I think people will have a small amount of sympathy for that for a very short time if Trudeau stays in power to sort of handle the crisis but I think very quickly people will become very annoyed at that

Never said anything about carney being knight in shiny armour, just asked the question of what he will do.

He has to do something, he will be the Prime Minister. Trudeau is now out of the picture, let alone negotiations.

While trudeau is hated, the liberals are sneaking up the ladder in some polls.

I think carney is smart. I think he has been a very astute observer. I think he will say the "right " things.

I wish PP would open his mouth and say something to make me feel better about the conservatives.

I think everyone is curious about what carney has in mind, but if your a liberal voter, then i would not be putting much into carney new image for reasons i already stated...

I agree , but trump is going to limit all of that, or Canada will have to pay the cost to our economy...He has stated already the 1.38 bil and renting a few choppers is not enough for our border security....what exactly trump wants nobody knows maybe justin knows...

Yes, liberals are gaining in the polls, we will see how much during an election....

If he is so smart why is he constantly being caught in lies...he has on many occasions not said the right things...

Here is PP latest news brief, this is a sample of what we can expect from PP

I am, at this time, not putting much on any politician of any stripe LOL

Oh and, I love the little tag on your PP media release that says " Altered or Synthetic content >" LOL   How much is real??? :)

Like taking credit for solving the 2008 financial crises, or stating Canada is the number 1 country for manufacturing microchips, or telling Canadians he was not in charge of moving brookfields HQ to the US, there is so many he got his own meme on U tube... And while he has many years to catch up to Justins lies and scandals i personal think they are the same person....

And it is your vote, to be honest use it anyway you want....I'm throwing mine at the conservatives because i think they are the best platform out there right now, and Canadians and me personally are tired of the liberal party right now, their flip flopping is telling that they really don't have an original platform that Canadians are searching for, but rather are sticking to what is popular to get reelected, with liberal Candidates throwing each other under the bus, it's sad really...........like axing the tax...scrapping the carbon tax one that they literally built all their election promises around, even declared a climate crises...

Our nation is under attack, and they are receiving a huge boost for that, but they are really not taking advantage of that...Freeland stated we should use British nukes to defend Canada, how is that an example of critical thinking, Thats grasping at straws....the rest of them are just as bad...with Carney spewing out lies everyday....at least the others have been somewhat trueful.

Poilievre will do great. It's more of a question of when he will get the chance to do great and I have this horrible horrible thinking feeling that it might not even be till 2026

At any rate as far as trump goes as I have often proposed he's a man of distraction. Whatever he's asking for is not what he wants. If he actually knew what he wanted he would tell us do this and then we can move forward but instead all he's saying is well it's not enough you great start keep going.

The important thing right now is to stop negotiating with him and keep hitting as hard as we can until he's willing to come forward and tell us what he wants in exchange for removing the tariffs

But the simple fact of the matter is I don't believe that he wants what we think. I think that this is in part building up to a trade dispute or he wants to feel like he's got the upper hand, but more and more I'm convinced that he is looking at this as tax revenue

He's promising to cut taxes for Americans and American Business just stimulate growth and all of the cuts he's making right now in the short-term will cost him a bundle. All those early buyouts and such aren't free.

So I think he's looking at this as a socially acceptable tax. it's a way to put money in his pocket the same way the carbon tax was used as a socially acceptable tax in Canada,

In which case there's nothing at all we could offer that would make him give it up right now. Which would explain why he hasn't asked for anything specific.

i think this will continue till it hurts him in the polls.

Have you been paying attention?

Trump has already "torn up" the trade agreement by imposing tariffs.  His trade agreement by the way LOL

The elephant in the room is a really really big elephant and his name is Donald Trump and he does what he wants. :)

So, at best, there will be talks of reductions and the questions is, "What will Carney do next Monday"??

Yes, Trump tore up his own agreement so there is no point in negotiating with the guy because he won't keep his word anyway.

Trudeau has said Canada will not be removing any tariffs until Trump removes all of his. You can be damn sure that he has discussed this with both Carney and Freeland.

Please explain what response has been very good...Lets take a look at what brought us here in the first place, our weaken economy, lack of any leadership,we really don't have a Pm right now.... the fact trump loves justin (sarcasm), weak border, weak policing, weak security including our military, liberal corruption, and the list goes on for pages....and now you want to pat him on the back because he has shown a little back bone...Sure to be honest i did not think justin had it in him....At a boy...now where is the election...

Exactly.

Where’s PP?  Propaganda YouTube videos just don’t cut it.

Trudeau’s excellent response to the crisis is just piling on more bad news for PP.

PP needs to appear with DoFo and eviscerate Trump.  That will get him some votes.  Is he able to criticize Trump in such a way.  He’s impotent in taking advantage of this crisis.

Some of that is true but it doesn't change the fact Trump is a predator and Trudeau's response has been appropriate.

He just wants to renegotiate USMCA. This ploy is to appease his American base. USMCA is th eagreement he took all the credit for and applauded during his last term. Yet,no one is saying that "bad deal" was his LOL

I find his claim that our borders are open to be nonsensical. Border people, in Canada and in US do not check people or things leaving a country, they check incoming.

There is less fentanyl coming from Canada in one year than is coming into the US through Florida and Mexico in one day.

Same goes for illegal aliens.... from Canada? Has the illegal alien surge come to halt at the Mexican border since trump took over?? No one talks about it anymore.

Why are our politicians not saying things like that??

The American public is starting to realize his tariff ploy is costing them money,

Like what? He has been consitant with his plan. No major screw ups, unlike carney. Sure carney is smart, but political smart i doubt it. We will learn what carney has during the debates, where PP will chew him up. This ain't the posh world of banking, this is a blood sport.

Anything about the situation Canada is in. If thr Premiers of the Provinces can go to the US to lobby their positions, why can the leader of the opposition and potential next prime minister not go? Even Trump knows Trudeau is gone and that the next PM is an interim measure.

'Yup...axe the tax...axe the tax and more axe the tax. LOL I wish he would become more "Prime Ministerial".

I am not a Carney fan but PP has to work harder to convince us he is the prime minister of choice, not by default.

You are right, it is not the "posh world of banking" but it is certainly the complicated world of national economics.

BS you are a lefty and just looking for anything not to vote for him.PP is about Canada, carney not so much. And he wants to spend $80b a yr on net zero. Where is that money coming from? And just the fact that he refers to himself as European should be enough not to vote for him.

The free trade treaty was due to be reopened next year. What he is doing now has nothing to do with renegotiation, it's a crude power play from a crude man. There is no point in negotiating anything with this man because he won't keep his  word anyway. He acts and we react. We act and he can deal with it just like we are having to deal with his bullshit. It's as simple as that at least until he is gone. No trust, no history. He threw that in the garbage and we are starting over.

What he is doing now is appeasing his base. He is living up to his promises. And most americans love him for it.

He does not want or need our trust. We are nothing to him, as are almost all other countries.

If americans disagree, he does not care about that either. He has 2 years before the next election and he will do as he wishes.

There were and perhaps still are a lot of Trumpians on this forum...claiming Trump as the ultimate conservative....pretty quiet now though.

You sure are looking for reason to vote carney. PP has been consistent , carney has been flip flopping on every issue. And how many lies he got caught using in his 1st week.

Carney will have the mostly the same crew working for him, that worked for Trudeau.  PP is a proud Canadian,  carney brags being European. And carney has been advising Trudeau for 5 yrs, so that should tell you alot.  You can put lipstick on a pig,but it's still a pig. If that isn't enough to give the PP a chance, then you have no intention of voting Con.

Who is "looking for a reason to vote carney"? When did I ever say that??

Again, I said "I am not a Carney fan but PP has to work harder to convince us he is the prime minister of choice, not by default. "  You seem to think PP is better than anyone else... LOL

Why are you obsessed at making PP the better candidate??

PP is a politician, never has been anything else. Has not real world experience except playing politics.

You can put lipstick on any politician but they are still a politician.

I have not decided who to vote for and am not a fan of anyone or any party. They have to convince me. I will not vote for someone just because. We will see how carney acts and reacts when he is PM next Sunday.

Will PP become prime minister material then??
