Quite a few actually do speak English. Conan O'Brien did a whole 10 minute skit in Greenland, back in 2019. I learned that may of them speak English, and virtually nobody from Greenland wants anything to do with joining the USA.

Don Jr's trip was such a dud, that his entourage had to resort to driving to the local homeless shelter, and soup kitchen, and bribing people with free room and board, in exchange for wearing MAGA hats, and cheering on everything he said, when his MAGA cronies were filming.

Trump is an insulting bully without the decency of a rat, but most of all he is a performer. His whole schtick is performance. He’s a conman all about keeping the base entertained. And distracted. He has to keep them distracted from just how incompetent he is and how there really is no substance to him.

It’s the old “fascinate the fools.”

With all this talk of taking over the Panama Canal, Greenland, and Canada, he’s trying to shift their attention from the fact he will never fulfill the promises he made - like ending the Ukrainian-Russian war in one day, or carrying out the largest mass deportations ever. Just won’t happen. Just like he never built the wall or replaced the ACA.

Having said that, I love America and most Americans. As a Canadian, I am glad we are helping them with the California wildfires, since Trump pretty much turned his back on the state.

The Greenland thing is ridiculous. I don't support Trump in that endeavour at all.

On CNN's homepage there are about 40 current stories, and the "51st state" BS is just a "lost in the middle of the page" side-story, and it's not even critical of Trump.

CNN excoriates Trump for things that he hasn't done yet but "will" (definitely won't) do, they lie about things he said or did to make him look bad, and when he talks about making Canada the 51st state they can't think of a way to frame that which makes him look like an a55hole? 

It seems like there's a lot of overt support for this down there, and not many people who are openly against it.

i hope the next PM thinks out of the box too. like:

- we don't need to spend 2% GDP on NATO. fck em. if we are going to be harassed by our allies into territorial submission. forget it. NATO doesn't need that much support anyways. a small force for grey areas and a doctrine of full nuclear response if any partner invaded.
- we get out of NATO. we spend that money on our own nuclear deterrent.

Truth is crazier than fiction too. I had higher hopes for spaceflight and the thought I might live on Mars one day though. That said if we had made it into outer space and worse gone Interstellar with the ethos of Trump and the oligarchs leading the way, we'd be regarded as the proverbial alien invaders by anyone/thing we found.
