Trump Backtracks on Abortion Ban

Recommended Posts

Donald Trump has backtracked on abortion, declaring that decisions must be made by the individual states, and supporting legal abortion in cases or rape and incest.

“President Trump’s retreat on the Right to Life is a slap in the face to the millions of pro-life Americans who voted for him in 2016 and 2020,” Mike Pence wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, adding, “However much our Republican nominee or other candidates seek to marginalize the cause of life, I know pro-life Americans will never relent until we see the sanctity of life restored to the center of American law in every state in this country.”

If so, it makes sense.  So many Republicans in the graveyard ready to rise from the grave and take DJT down ... like a Creep Show... Paul Ryan, Pence, McConnell... Maybe an actual dead man like McCain will be in the final frame in the comic book version... Skull and all..

Of course HE DOUBLETALKS about EVERYTHING. Duh

Feb 16, 2024  In supporting a 16-week ban with exceptions, Donald Trump appears to be trying to satisfy social conservatives who want to further restrict ...

You're too dumb to understand the difference between "decisions must be made by the individual states" and a NATIONAL 16 week ban.

Ridiculous doubletalk as usual by Trump.

It should be left up to states unless there's a constitutional amendment specifically dealing with abortion.

Why is that? Can you name any other medical procedure which is legal in some states and illegal — a felony — in others?  Doesn’t such a system clearly benefit the wealthy, who can fly wherever they wish to obtain abortions?

I can name LOTS of things that are legal in one state and not in others.  The fact that one of them happens to involve medicine is hardly surprising

Also the individual states currently legislate regulation on all kinds of medical issues such as drugs and what proceedures are covered by various plans and such.

It's a nothing of an argument.   The individual states already all have legislation governing healthcare and this is just part of that parcel.

Can you name another medical procedure that's guaranteed specifically by the constitution?

Abortion isn't protected or banned in the constitution, so what is to be done?  Different states have different laws for everything.  There's still dry states in the US that ban public sales of alcohol in stores, it can only be bought from a licensed vendor (sports game, bar etc).

And this is the correct answer.

Like it or not the constitution doesn't cover medical procedures. You have no constitutional right to a colonoscopy. There's no amendment that ensures your right to a vasectomy or tummy tuck.

Those things are left to the state, and that's just the way it is.

Alcohol possession is not a medical procedure. The US Constitution specifically states that the states can write their own laws regarding alcohol possession and distribution, specifically:

”The transportation or importation into any State, Territory, or possession of the United States for delivery or use therein of intoxicating liquors, in violation of the laws thereof, is hereby prohibited.”

You might need to read that a few times to make sense of it, but what it says that the Constitution prohibits transportation or possession of alcohol is illegal wherever it is prohibited by law by that State, territory or possession.

Dude it has already been pointed out to you that the states have TONNES Of medical regulation and law. Pretending that they don't is just dumb.

Are you SERIOUSLY saying that the individual states do NOT currently exercise any authority over medical matters??  Is that what you're trying to sell?

Show me where medical procedures is dealt with in the constitution.

As I remarked in my other response to you, if you insult me again as you did above I will put you on ignore.  Got it?  I'm trying to have a discussion with you, you don't have to be a jerk about it.

The answer to that is evidenced by reports of late-term and post birth murders.

When it transitions from a blob, to a being, abortion becomes murder.

Whether you like it or not.!

America is a country of several hundred million people.

It is a federal republic.

Wouldn't UT be fun to watch Trump backing him self around in a circle with his attempts to cater to his unwoke audience? LoL

That's all the Supreme Court or what Trump sad.

That is not what the Supreme Court said. And it’s what Trump said once, among a bunch of other abortion proposals which shift with the wind.
