We have seen these environmental radicals block streets and bridge for long periods of time while the police do nothing. The roads, bridges and public places belong to everyone. A fringe group of eco radicals have no right to stop the public from travelling and going to work or living their lives. Wake up Canada. The size of the protest is irrelevant. Why didn't they arrest the truckers or the indigenous protestors blocking railways across Canada the year prior? The same laws apply. When people do illegal things and won't leave or comply with the law you arrest them. The only difference between small protests and larger protests is the fear from politicians and police of a PR backlash if things get messy. Deescalation is good, but when it doesn't work and someone resists arrest you're supposed to use the minimal force (violence) necessary to force them to comply.
