Why has the driving force on the right become hatred of gays and trans.

It happens when a party decide to operate on stupidity and hatred as a driving mechanism to get supporters, and with the abilaty to control the weak and ugly. This has been done forever , it is the general mechanism that drives dictatorship. You give them someone or something to hate so the peoples problems are are then blamed on what is hated, it justify' s peoples perceived failure by giving them something else to blame that perceived failure on. .
AS far as stupidity is concerned , once the right wing hate party takes over a state , they becomes the enemy of education, proven by the fact that the worst schools and education are found in red states and with that also the least intelligent people , which can't be argued. That is simply the fact that stupid people are the easiest people to control with ignorance and general stupidity. People who have the capacity to think always question why someone would pick the right wing , when in fact the are totally working against 90% of the populations best interest.
When a party has nothing to offer they come up with , hatred and cruelty against gays and trans.

Nope. It was half of Trump's voters, which is only a quarter. And Hillary SPECIFIED the characteristics that made them deplorable.

In another threat, long ago, a Trump supporter was admitting he was a deplorable. So I posted the list that Hillary specified and asked which applied to him. He never answered but others chimed in with "it's not only one." LMAO

FWIW, Hillary said half of the Trump supporters, not half of the nations voters, then the next day she expressed regret for saying half. But the point that Trump had expanded the tent to include the ugliest of the alt-right was correct. Those creeps didn't used to have a cozy home in the mainstream Republican base. That was new.
