This is just a safety reminder.  There are some of us who are more vulnerable than others because of our compromised health conditions.

There has been a spike in Covid 19 cases in hospitals and a spike in deaths in the past number of weeks.

Don't believe the Covid deniers.  They don't know what they are talking about.

People in the older age bracket should be especially careful about gathering in groups this Thanksgiving weekend.

Those of us who are more vulnerable than others also need to remember to practice mask wearing, social distancing, and avoid groups.

Enjoy Thanksgiving weekend, but be safe.

Thank you for a post I will agree with almost 100%

I wouldn't worry too much over Thanksgiving gatherings, but yes if you're older or compromised in any way you should begin to take precautions. As my doctor said, when they talk about those 'over 50, theyre talking about YOU a long time ago!

The latest multivax will be here in a week or so and I gotta go to the clinic anyways for routine blood tests...

Yes, thank you for that.  You are correct.  That is what really matters.

Yeah, heard that pitiful excuse a lot over the last few years. Asked a woman who didn't vax because she was "protected by the blood of Jesus" if He looked both ways for her crossing the street too.

Prior to Covid the average number of flu deaths in Canada was around 5,000 per year. This is from memory, if you're interested go look it up.

As with Covid, the vast majority of these deaths occurred in old age homes.

Now you know.

Mommy-mommy look, the sky is falling down. You really can be easily convinced to believe that the sky is falling down with just enough of fear and panic propaganda by the media and government. There is nothing to worry about here, folks. It is all just more bullshit being created by the government and health officials to try and bring back as many covid mandates that we had two years ago. It's just all about power and control.

Are you willing to give up all of the freedoms that we just got back and go thru more of this covid nonsense once again. Here in BC, the covid propaganda machine has begun. The push is already on to get vaccinated and the wearing of masks has started. Get ready to lose more of your freedoms. It will happen if you let them take those gained freedoms away from you. Just saying.

Which means if you're older you're a total fool not to take precautions. That is all that statement means.

No, not a total fool. But to the people who died in old age homes, it was certainly the ones who were most near the end. To some by then the end is not unwelcome. They don't even have a choice. Bed ridden in a diaper, unable to do anything, unable to communicate, confused, drooling existence. Their minds are gone but the body continues.

For them the flu comes through like a might wave, like an angel of merciful death. Let the suffering and loss of dignity be over. You had a good run.

As opposed to, preserve life at all cost, keep them alive by any means available. Give them the shots for Covid 19.

Their fear drives them into hiding, which only makes them weaker.

My fearful double masking 5x injected coworker was off the whole week, bedridden. Not just a little sick. Totally down and out...

Meanwhile I stand tall, walking in grace on a road that leads to compassion and mercy for the least of these.

Not, government mandates.   :D

You greatly exaggerate what the government is doing, in B.C. for instance.  It makes complete sense in hospitals because many or most patients are in the vulnerable category, older or with compromised immune systems.

It also makes sense for older people and people with compromised immune systems to wear masks in public places and get their Covid and flu shots.  The vaccinations for various diseases has saved millions of lives over the last century.

Nobody will be giving up their freedoms as we are not going back to the pandemic restrictions.

We started hearing things a few weeks ago, like the number of covid patients in the hospital tripled. This was the message from local media and government.

Upon looking closer, yes they did. They went from one, to three.

Covid dashboard hasn't been updated since April. So she works in a hospital, hoop de doo. Does she also compile the statistics as to how many are in BC hospitals and for what?

Our dashboard in Eastern ON is still current. You're free to look it up. One case now in the ICU.

It went down by 300 percent.

;)

They are informed of outbreaks in email. Whoop de doo, eh? Amazing how it works when you have a job there.

COVID-19 cases are on the rise in British Columbia, with the BC Centre for Disease Control reporting hospitalizations have increased 58 per cent in the past two weeks.

The centre says in its latest update that deaths due to COVID-19 are also trending upwards, with 24 fatalities in the last week of September, compared to nine in the second week of August.

It says new infections rose from 133 cases to 877 cases in the same period, having “increased notably” among people 60 and older.

There were 422 people in hospital with COVID-19 on Thursday, compared to 267 on Sept. 21.

The centre says COVID-19 levels detected in wastewater are up at every monitored treatment plant in the province, coinciding with the spike in new cases.

The latest numbers also show more people aged 80 and older have been getting tested for COVID-19 over the last few weeks, with nearly 35 per cent of those coming out positive in the last week of September.

The Fraser Health Authority says there are currently COVID-19 outbreaks at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, Surrey Memorial Hospital, and Chilliwack General Hospital.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced last week that mask mandates were returning to health-care settings across B.C. during the respiratory illness season.   unquote

I'm looking at BC and blackbird is right.

My son is a cop. He has plenty of personal experience but doesn't compile crime statistics.

Oh it's just the usual pi$$ing and moaning of one of those What would a doctor know about it loudmouths. FFS he's gonna claim we're forcing him to get vaxxed against his will. Waah Blackbirds a "mandating dictator'.

One of my tenants is a nurse at the local hospital.  She says they're seeing an increase in cases.  Three of my co-workers called in sick with covid over the last couple weeks.

It is what it is.

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

Yep. Some old folks have put the masks on again.

Who can blame them, given the government propaganda.

Does your wife share your feelings in the context of her job on the front line?

She's been wearing a mask on the job for almost a month now. But they use masks during their normal infection protocol, so it's not that different. Other than now wearing it all day long instead of just for one procedure.

Does she agree that forcing people to get the mrna jab or be excommunicated is over the top? Sure.

That wearing masks of poor fit or quality could make you feel safe when you're really not, and increase your risk? Yes.

That it's better to go outside and get some fresh air, and eat a peck of dirt each day, than stay in the basement? Boo yeah
