1. No idea.

2. 'You people ' ? You seem to be unable to discuss things with me without assigning me some personal stake in the matter.  When you want my opinion on how much this helps first Nations et al, just ask ok?

Putting me into a cartoon mob of your own imagining makes me wonder why you are taking to me.

And who is the nut ball?

Too personal, my friend.

3. No idea.  Probably badly.

You have no idea how disappointed I was when the late Gord Downie praised Trudeau his last time on stage.  You don't know me or what I care about, so stop pretending that you do.  It makes your arguments shittier.

Stick to facts, fella this is not about you. I could care less. ;) This is about helping natives, through changing the names of our schools. So you people feel like you’ve done something useful, and at least they will know that you truly care as they squat in the bush.

Are you trying to suggest I have some legal issues due to my position or opinion?

No you simply have anger issues. All I'm saying is that your liability is due to the fact your institutions were complicit in committing crimes.

Are you trying to suggest you're exempt because your anger is special, like a religious belief that needs to be accommodated?

Is this more retroactive crime, where we apply modern standards to historic social mores, values, and laws?   What’s the statute of limitations on that?  Can my ancestors seek reparations for the property they left behind as Loyalists fleeing America around 250 years ago?

What about the tribes who warred against each other, killed, raped, and pillaged?  Should we have a trial for the ghosts?   If more than half of our population immigrated to Canada within the last two generations, what do they owe the descendants of the colonized?

If we’re going to “right” all these historic wrongs, once we’re done (by whose standards, we don’t know), will we rescind the benefits to Indigenous of unjust Indian Act, including tax exemptions, free education and healthcare?

Ryerson died before residential schools were invented, but the social good he demonstrated by founding free public education and supporting Indigenous land rights is now evil because, well, it fits the colonial narrative.

We know today that the residential schools were misguided, but it was the left-leaning progressives who ushered them in to give literacy to Indigenous.  There was no way to get an education without living away, but the forced removal of children from home, the repression of language and culture, and the many instances of abuse and crowding were wrong.  The victims who are alive today have received payouts and apologies that will never be enough, yet we have to reconcile and find common ground.

Seeking scape goats and pretending that we should’ve known much better than we did doesn’t help.  Stupid mistakes were made.  When we know better, generally, we do better.  The Pope has apologized as much as he physically can, but he didn’t commit those injustices.  Indigenous also committed injustices, but the immigrants kept coming and the dominant cultures dominated.   It’s the story of the clash of civilizations throughout history.

We have new problems today.  Threats to our economy and constitutional rights today are real.  The Indigenous file is one of our many challenges  and many interests are competing for attention and money.

Nonsensical idiotic questions like these are why the Supreme Court has had to direct so much of Canada's reconciliation.  Giving politicians the time of day to ponder them only allows the government to continue fucking the dog.

It's why we always pay two steps back for every three we take forward on so many other issues we face.

Sealioning; the disingenuous action by a commenter of making an ostensible effort to engage in sincere and serious civil debate, usually by asking persistent (stupid) questions of the other commenter.

Anger issues? I will accept no liability for acts done before any of my family was ever even born.!

My only experience with native kids in foster homes and going to school was a kid in high school. Nice guy, very smart, great hockey player. I had a car and he didn't. so I drove him to most games. He went home to the reserve one Christmas and came back with a big black eye. He told me his own family beat him regularly over the holidays for being "too white".

Who's liable for that? I think you've got this all back-assed-wards. It looks to me like the natives have "anger issues".

Or questions said commenter either cannot or will not answer. The American 5th Amendment.

Nice dodge...

I'm pretty sure the entire Canadian Supreme Court bench would respond with a collective facepalm if you threw that at them in an argument against Canada's liability.

And you still don't get it?

Oh I get it alrighty. You're convinced the natives can ignore the contracts they signed for any reason they want, and the evil white race is collectively obliged to accommodate because of...things that happened before we were all born.

What contracts? You mean like something discussed over a barrel of molasses?

We all enjoy destroying Canada, our people... ?

Oh Michael, could you tell me if the gay porn videos that are in various threads  are staying up?
