Trudeau said a replacement for Payette will be announced “in due course.” In the meantime, Supreme Court Chief Justice Richard Wagner will fulfill the governor general’s duties.

He's not the head of government.  I bet Trudeau will announce someone to replace early or mid February.

Canada, Australia and New Zealand were all on the list.

These countries have a foreign monarch because of historical reasons that are no longer relevant. When did our head of state last visit our country? It is an absurd situation which is about to become more absurd when we are saddled with Charles.

If you get rid of the GG you would still need another head of state to replace them. We've just seen what can happen when you make the same person head of government and head of state.

At the very least, the appointment of the GG should be completely independent of the PM, given that they may have to take decisions the PM might not like.

Trudeau has to learn new tricks as Biden's poodle.

I guess we will need to get used to "Biden Derangement syndrome." (BDS)

The Prince of Wales will make an excellent King. He has had 60 years of training for the role.

There is precedent for the Chief Justice to be acting GG. When HE Jules Leger had his stroke, the Chief Justice filled in.

The Queen is a Canadian citizen.

Charles will make a fine King, but Canada's unfortunate choice for GG has tarnished things a bit.  Time to get the polish out and make things shine again.

America doesn't have a monarchy...but you can get a crown at Burger King.

Payette was a walking time bomb with domestic assault charges in the U.S.   She even killed a pedestrian with her vehicle.

Trudeau was warned not to nominate this space cadet, but as usual he went for the blackface again.

Not a fan of Brazilian burgers.

St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s detectives investigated for eight months, according to an extensive police report that detailed accident reconstruction and also a subpoena for Payette’s cellphone records. They closed the case in 2012 after concluding that Potts, who had various medical issues and poor eyesight, stepped off the curb to cross the road when she should not have. Payette’s Volkswagen Touareg had the green light, and one witness said they saw Payette’s vehicle swerve in a last-minute attempt to avoid the collision.

Though the charges were later dropped, the couple split several weeks later and subsequently divorced.

Not happening. Not unless they get elected separately. And even then you'd probably need some sort of rule about them not being a member of any political party.

Payette is your problem now...not mine.  Plus you have to pay that crazy bitch a pension ?

The point went sailing right over your head.

She served our country so she deserves it.

You paid Nixon for 20 years.

Nixon was elected...twice.   Payette was appointed after very poor vetting.

She killed once...she could kill again !

Remember that Trudeau made her GG despite being charged with assault of her ex husband by Maryland police (the charges were later dropped). She was appointed largely because once again Trudeau insisted on a woman, and it had to be a francophone who was bilingual. That limited the choice, obviously.

She joins Michaelle Jean, Adrian Clarkson and Jeanne Sauve as female GGs who were miserable failures, probably because they weren't appointed for any reason but identity politics. Romeo Leblanc was dull as dishwater. The two good ones we've had of late were the Tory appointees, Daniel Johnson and Ray Hnatyshyn.

"This has gone from being one of the most collegial and enjoyable work environments for many of the staff to being a house of horrors," said one government source. "It's bullying and harassment at its worst."

CBC News spoke to a dozen sources with direct knowledge of the office during Payette's mandate. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because they feared they could lose their jobs or their careers could suffer. Many of the sources are still in the public service, while others are former Rideau Hall employees.

The sources say Payette has yelled at, belittled and publicly humiliated employees. They accuse her of throwing tantrums in the office and, on one occasion, tossing an employee's work aside and calling it "shit."

On a single day, multiple people were seen leaving Payette's office with tears in their eyes after private meetings with the Governor General, said one source. In another instance, a staff member was spotted crying in their car.

Argus said it all SIX months ago that now appears to have been true, My question is how come the Prime Minister did not know what Argus knew?

Harassment at the workplace causes many immoral but also illegal issues like long term health issues out of stress for employees and must not be tolerated by anyone or at any level.

As for Payette, I am not sure her resignation would go far enough. She and the toxic secretary she brought in with her both broke the law..

Some folks use a  crystal ball, others read tea leaves,  others yet  use a pendulum . . . . . all excellent, foolproof ways to make decisions that affect others and the country. My prediction is that 'the boy in charge' will appoint Meng Wanzhou as the new Governor General . . . . . this decision will be based on consultations with his butt plug.

Well what is the word on the street, what excuses are the liberals coming up with now... How many gaffs does this man have to make before one of those leftist wingnuts open their eyes and say this is the last straw. Someone should be writing all these excuses done and but it in book form. You could call it how "gullible is the average liberal" It is getting to the point it is rather embarrassing, and we wonder why we as a nation can not be taken seriously.

Mean while in the news Justin has said the process was flawed, but it was Justin that change that policy you know the one put in place by the cons, where the GG would be chosen by a board made up of the main parties.... I mean what a shitty democratic policy right, it reeks of fairness, but because it came from the right it was full of shit.

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.
