Well there's slim chance that we'll have the Olympics and there's no hockey to talk about so Mutually Assured Destruction is not in play.

Besides, Go Leafs...

To get back on topic, after a 16 year wait to get back into the top league Leeds Utd are sitting at the top of the 2nd division with only 9 games to play and all fixtures postponed until further notice. Never mind your gilets jaunes, merde is going to get réel if they are denied promotion.

The UK is effectively under martial law at the best of times, anybody causing trouble right now is asking to be stomped on from a very great height.

If you start a riot right now, the army will shoot to kill.

The army are safely in their barracks for now but I'm sure the plod would ''kettle'' any hooligans venting their spleens. Leeds fans do have a bit of a rep' though.

You're all being watched by GCHQ, if you even call your friends to start some trouble, 22 SAS could be the next thing you see, kicking down your door.

Well I'd struggle to get a Leeds posse together here in the land of the Iceni anyway but up in Yorkshire they're a stroppy lot.

Ask bcsapper if you don't believe me...

This is extraordinary circumstances and the gloves are off, the state is vulnerable, they are on a hair trigger alert for trouble right now

Nothing can be allowed to threaten control, the army will shoot to kill, I'm quite sure.

In these extraordinary circumstances they will control the media, if they come for you, it won't be on the news, you will simply disappear into an extra-judcial black hole,

I wouldn't rule out snatch patrols, they don't want to alarm people at your residence, so they might just pull up in the van, grab you and go, so fast nobody even saw it.

Special Reconnaissance Regiment, dart to the neck with a syringe full of sedative

They will nip it in the bud at the earliest opportunity, ruthlessly.

Worldometer, Column 8   "serious, critical".

Well, according to this BC has 13 in hospital.

And this says there are 21 in hospital in Ontario.

So Canadians coming home are supposed to isolate themselves for fourteen days. But that rule apparently doesn't include the phony  asylum seekers crossing the border at Roxham Road.

Those who illegally cross the border into Canada are not being quarantined, despite assurances to the contrary by Public Safety Minister Bill Blair, according to the head of the union representing CBSA officers.

Customs and Immigration Union president Jean-Pierre Fortin told the Montreal Gazette that as of Tuesday morning asylum seekers were not being subjected to mandatory quarantine.

Or they are sick with the virus and in the hospital, but not in "serious condition". I didn't see where in this article it says they are in serious condition or not.

Anyone who is sick with only mild symptoms gets sent home. There is no cure, so just go home and wait it out. Let me qualify that to say the only cure is mother nature, IE. the body's immune system. Based on the number of mild cases and survivors, looks like it's doing damned fine. If people feel worse, they may be put in hospital for observation until they're back down to just a "mild" case. People who get a high fever or something like that, they could be hospitalized. They may not always be. In the past if you went to the ER with a high temperature you were sent home and told to stay get some rest. But since its Coronavirus, they would be hospitalized out of an abundance of caution.

So I think your graph is seriously out of date.

I've watched the numbers for a few weeks now. There was "2" listed in the serious condition column for a long time. Now the data for serious cases shows "1", and the number of deaths listed went up by one, indicating a total of 12 deaths nationwide. So, how many have died in Canada so far? The page you linked to, which was posted yesterday shows Canada had 11 deaths. Another died today. Looks like this information is up to date. Twelve people have died across the entire country so far.

Cue shutting down all public events, cancel the remainder of the school year, cancel all sports leagues, close all shops but not the liquor store, and create turmoil and hardship for millions of people.

I'm trying not to be alarmed...but Italy....

Got a lot of family in the La Spezia area.  So far so good, but like you, I'm getting alarmed.

These two lines contradict each other.

Are you suggesting people with a headache and low fever need to go to the hospital? They don't, and they are being sent home to self-quarantine. That's the best place for them.

104,982 deaths worldwide this season from flu. This is a year-after-year number by the way. So what's with all the panic?

WHO: 650-000 people die- of-respiratory diseases linked to seasonal flu each year

Our health system is like an aircraft carrier; it can change course but only slowly. Novel infections are unusual because of the acute strain they can place on health care, the economy and society. It’s the rate of change that’s the big challenge. The fatality rate of C-19 is at the very least 7 times that of seasonal flu, a nontrivial difference. If a significant proportion of the population becomes infected, we just don’t have enough slack to accommodate such an abrupt rise in demand for ICU beds, and doctors may have to decide who gets the ventilators. The news from Italy this week has been truly frightening. Two months ago I was planning to spend April there; now Bergamo is like a war zone, and many more young people are ending up in hospital than I expected. Countries that acted early and decisively to C-19, like Taiwan and Singapore, have performed relatively well. It’s no coincidence they have had previous experience of similar disasters. Panic is never a good thing but fear can be highly useful.

I have to pretend to be sociable or they'll kick me off.

Shame about the season.  I hope they finish it so you can go up.  Bradford City, of course, were going nowhere anyway.

Remember when the Italians heard there was going to be a quarantine, they all ran to the south to escape it. That can only spread the disease further.
Italians not having the best reputation for being steadfast and reliable in an emergency...

I wasn't actually paying that close attention to Italy until their cases started going through the roof, I was too busy watching the markets.
