Quote

"Even if a foreign adversary does develop strategic intent to interfere with Canada's democratic process, we consider foreign cyber interference of the scale of Russian activity against the 2016 United States presidential election improbable at this time in Canada in 2019," it notes.

"However, we judge it is very likely that Canadian voters will encounter some form of foreign cyber interference ahead of, and during, the 2019 federal election."

Don'e believe a damn word these idiots are saying. Nothing but putting fear into Canadians.  But the comments are good.  But yeah let's blame foreign interference in the next election and not blame Trudeau and the Liberals for their handling of the SNC-Lavalin corruption/blackmail issue.

Canadians are not going to fall for this.. or at least I hope that is the case.

Check this out:  https://curiouscast.ca/podcast/364/russia-rising/ - especially part 3.  The goal isn't to interfere to get someone elected, but to create division/dissension in Western countries.  In 2015, Russian Trolls posted both pro and anti-Trudeau stuff, pro and anti-immigration, pro and anti-Muslim.

I'm sad to say that's probably a vain hope in light of how many appear to subscribe to chem-trail, vaccine and commie/Islamic deep-state/media conspiracy nonsense these days.

There are more powerfully soluble 'opiates' available to the masses than ever and people have the right to self-medicate to their stupid heart's content.

I also heard an interesting comment on this, that Canada is not as vulnerable as some countries because we are still using a paper-based system. That cuts out one direct method of interference where hackers attempt to change data on a voting machine. So in a sense all they really can do is feed us more bullshit propaganda, and as a nation we are pretty used to that.

Because we should trust and believe what the government is selling us. But if you ever try it, you'll find it's just totally useless shwag.

Trudeau promised hundreds of millions to CBC while campaigning in 2015.

He promised publicly to buy votes. No one batted an eye. After his announcement, suddenly CBC became the biggest supporters of the Liberals and Justin Trudeau -at an even bigger degree they actually were in the past-.

We should be more worried about our own politicians' inteference with our electoral system than by "muh russia diss and dat". We should be worried about local politicians literally buying vote with our taxes money than anything else.

Justin Trudeau and its minions are by far the most dangerous threats to our Democracy than anyone on the planet, period.

That is why it is literally on us right-wingers, to save the world!

OTOH society soon defaults to the same state when trust fails.

From what though, faith or disbelief?

I made that up. Alt-left, Alt-right. = Alt-ism.

Here is how I use it in a sentence:
Screw you people and your alt-ism.

You know, that other right winger who thinks he's saving the world.

You mean, the guy who is gonna decide the next PM of Canada. I think he's already decided who it's NOT going to be.

You're right, Andrew wasn't a good choice.

Oh well, I guess they are stuck with Scheer for this go around.

Yes. Not so bad, perhaps. As the saying goes, there's always a deeper hell...

There are lots of strategic reasons to try to influence Canadians' votes.

What would be more of a factor in how people vote in the next election :

1 - Trudeau's handling of the SNC-Lavalin case

or

2 - The Russians. Or whoever they try to pin foreign meddling on.

Were you a member of the Conservative party and participated in the choice of the new leader, Scheer?  People who didn't participate don't have much to complain about.

You are right. The nature of the game is disinformation to create domestic and internal  disagreement to  side-track people and distract from paying attention to particular foreign issues by obsessing more with internal domestic ones. No more, no less.

In the case of Canada, most people are unaware we are highly unpopular with Putin. We have 500 troops in Ukraine training their officers and there is reason to believe some our elite units may have been involved in direct combat with Russian troops although that will ever be disclosed. We are considered  an enemy of Putin particularly our Foreign Minister who is of Ukrainian descent and has made some pretty scathing remarks about Putin. Do not underestimate his thin skin and wanting to plant nonsense stories just to stir up the pot.

In regards to China, their intelligence is all about trade and being able to sell products and get ideas from competitors and make their products cheaper and so their intelligence is focused on business. They don't obsess with ideologies of government, they obsess over control over trade markets. Its a different focus of intelligence. If Canada was a threat in the South Pacific Sea as a naval obstacle then maybe we become a military issue to them  but clearly we have no navy and our air force is of no concern to China.

Their concern is access to our markets and intellectual property.
