I don't understand what the fuss s all about. Trump was democratically elected by the American people as the President of the United States of America. So why all these demonstrations them!!!!!! So why there is an election if its results is going to be undermined? He said what he stands for clearly and he was elected so any demonstration is against the democracy.

People would like the incoming administration to know that although they have lost the election, they will not sit quietly and accept the Republican agenda without complaint.

They'd like the Republicans in the House, the Senate, and the White House to know that incoming efforts to eliminate Planned Parenthood, reduce healthcare access, battle civil rights, gut public schools, and make life worse for workers aren't going to pass without criticism.

No they have no right to do so because Republican party under Trump was elected  democratically with all these clear agenda in a democratic manner. They said they are going to do all these if they are elected and the American people elected them in a fair manner knowing clearly what they are going to do. I see these demonstrations as undemocratic.

Everyone in America has the right to peaceful assembly and free speech.

There's nothing undemocratic about it. The duly elected government gets to make laws, and the people get to voice their opinion.

I guess you have to expect some aftershocks when the majority of the people get a government they didn't vote for.

The "vast majority" of American citizens did not vote for Hillary Clinton.

Nope....I didn't vote for Trump either.   Clinton had less "support" than Obama.

Just as Trump had less support than Clinton. But you already knew that...I hope.

That's OK...he got enough "support" to win the presidency.   No hope required.

Definitely fear is running this and I think they should all chill until they actually see what he does. I saw Whoopi  (the view) telling the crowd they can win this just like the people got the US to withdrawal from Nam. I also, came  across online of a dating for Canadians and Americans , who want to leave the US, really?  On the  View, Whoopi  told Sean Hannity, that he thought they were a bunch of whiners , come on the  show and talk about....Sean has said, he'll come on but Joy has to except the one-way ticket out of the US,she said she would move, at one time...I hope he does, like to see this....he said he go BUT will they let him on the show??

And I'm sure some of the dolts going south to protest will say that at the border and get rejected.  I fully expect an expose' from the CBC on how the US border is being heavy handed, with breathless 'reporters' getting said protesters to bitch and moan.

And sure enough, the CBC tracked down some dolts who were refused entry at the border after they said they were going to join the women's protest march.

Complaining is nothing new. We've just had an 8 year cycle of complaining.

People who care about civil rights will undoubtedly get a lot to complain about with Jeff Sessions becoming AG.

People who care about education will undoubtedly get a lot to complain about with Betsy deVos becoming Secretary of Education.

People who care about the environment will undoubtedly get a lot to complain about with Scott Pruitt becoming head of the EPA.

People who care about workers will undoubtedly get a lot to complain about with Andy Pudzer becoming Secretary of Labor.

And so on.

The one thing all these people have in common is that they hate the departments they're now going to be in charge of.

And if it turns out that something complaint worthy happens then complain about it then.  But, nothing has happened yet, Sessions hasn't tried taking away any rights and nothing has been done to change the school system either - however, if stats mean anything, then changes should be made.  And, why not wait and see what the Secretary of labor does (or the results) before criticizing.

Let's face it, you people would be complaining no matter who was chosen for any position.

P.S - I thought the whole election process was good TV and all, but you liberals who actually live in Canada have taken this thing way too far.  It's not our monkey, not our circus!

I think the two are related...as another member posted years ago....they watch so much American TV, they think they are Americans and have a say in such matters.

This is what makes this thing so pathetic - that you might actually be right on this.  I expected more from Canadians, I expected that they would keep some small perspective and understand that Trump is not our leader and the US is not our country.

Some Canadians are talking about their right to freely travel to another country and are offended that they were questioned at the border - good fkng grief!

Maybe it's so over the top because they already threw tantrums and whined like children during the Bush administration, and now they have to raise the bar because of Trump.   They hate Trump more than Bush...before he ever took office.    After all, Trump defeated their champion....Clinton..which raises a bunch of other cross border, wannabe questions.

We have new words for those folks now...."triggered"...."snowflakes"...."safe space".....etc.

People like Pudzer and deVos and Pruitt have track records and well-known agendas.  Those track-records and agendas are the reasons the Republicans have selected them for those portfolios. You think people should just ignore their histories and their agendas and pretend we don't know what they were appointed to do yet?

Not true. I don't think I've heard anybody complaining about General Mattis, for example.

I don't think people have been attacking Rick Perry, aside from pointing out the irony of him being appointed to lead the department he famously forgot, then remembered, that he wanted to eliminate.

Clearly Trump supporters in Canada are equally excited about this circus.
