Maybe you can clarify the point you are hoping to discuss here and avoid having this directionless topic taken down. Quote

Benz Posted September 22, 2016 Report Posted September 22, 2016 I always been amused by how, the people who pretends to know so much about god, actually know so little about science, physic and history. God would have created the universe and life, but would have wait 13 billions of years before it creates humans and suddenly feels to obligation to serve its latest creation. Benz Posted September 22, 2016 Report Posted September 22, 2016 (edited) I can't remember which one created god between those two. I always forget. Is it DC comics or Marvel? Edited September 22, 2016 by Benz Quote

Guest Posted September 24, 2016 Report Posted September 24, 2016 (edited) Yes, The men who made him made God a male, for one. The one and only creator god...who for some reason is obsessed with belief in other gods who do not exist and never have existed, but if someone tells you they do, kill them. These men were shitty writers. Edited September 24, 2016 by Guest Quote

Goddess Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 I was always taught that God is "Our Heavenly Father", a parent. It made me think about what I want for my children. When they were small, I told them what to eat, what to wear, when to do things, I managed every aspect of their lives. As they grew, I managed less and less of what they did. It made me proud that my children grew up to be strong, empathetic, independent people who did what was right and did good to other people because they were taught well, not because of a fear of punishment (literal or an imaginary hellfire or whatever). When they were small, they asked for my direction on even tiny matters, but if they were still doing that now, I would be very disappointed. It would mean they were not developing psychologically. I don't want them to consider ME first in everything they do in their lives. I'm happy when they do (becasue they are good kids who consider my feelings), but I would be disappointed if they felt that every decision in their lives had to be what " I " wanted. I imagine it's the same with God (if there was one). Religion is like the baby food of life. Pablum. If there is a God, I believe he expects us to eventually "grow up". I think he/she would be very disappointed in a person who still needs to be told what to eat, what to wear, what to do every second of the day. Seeing no progress in your children would be disappointing to me as a parent. Religion/Faith can be a good thing - provide a social structure for elderly people, comfort when someone dies, etc. But do we really need to have our life micromanaged by a deity? Is he really such a control freak? Is he such a small person that he needs every human praying/worshipping/adoring him every second of their lives? Just my 2 cents. Scott Mayers Posted September 30, 2016 Report Posted September 30, 2016 God does not want our love. God wishes only to serve man. God does not want to be served. God has no wants or needs. If it were real, I would agree with you only in that is does not mean we should 'love' it; this would be like our computers becoming so artificially 'real' that it BEGS US for solutions, like a calculator demanding us what 4.974 / 8.8 is when we designed IT to do the work. Otherwise, what purpose would it serve other than to entertain? It would make this "being" lack actual determinate value other than what we do even by mere ACCIDENT. We don't blame the computer when if fucks up..... we blame our own faculties in programming it. Quote

Allah, while touted as being the same deity as the Jews' Yahweh, is originally one of many gods from Arab polytheism. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_pre-Islamic_Arabia The connection came after the fact...Fact...lol. betsy Posted October 1, 2016 Report Posted October 1, 2016 (edited) What if you are not Christian? I'm going by the Commandments and teachings of Christ, which include acceptance of Christ since it says in the Book, He's the only Way to God. I speak as a Christian. As to a non-Christian who loves God? That's between him and God. Edited October 1, 2016 by betsy Quote
