I don't think anybody would even be talking about the size of Trump's crowd at this point if Trump hadn't ordered Sean Spicer come out and lie to the press about it. I think this is somewhat an example of "the Streisand Effect" in action.

Another example of his inability to resist lying for the sake of self-aggrandizement: his Tweet of his picture where he's supposedly writing his own speech.   With a Sharpie... at the Mar-a-Lago reception desk...  and now two days later we know that most of the speech was written by Steve Bannon and Stephen Miller.

I mean, it's not a big deal that he used speech-writers.  Every President uses speech writers.  That's a complete non-story.  So why did he have to go out and pretend like he was writing it himself?

"Guys! We need to stage a photo op where it looks like I'm writing the speech. Go down to the reception desk and get rid of that fat ugly receptionist, and move those brochures, and replace that computer monitor with a statue of a bald eagle, and I'll sit down behind the desk and pretend I'm writing a speech with this black marker."

I was talking to someone who knows a bit more about the man than I do, and apparently, as he was growing up, his father would pit the Trump siblings against each other, and tell them that even if you lose, never admit it, as it's a sign of weakness.  I guess the dad was a bigger dick than the son.  So maybe he's more to be pitied than scolded.

If only he wasn't in charge.

OK....the magnitude of your disappointment has yet to be measured as well.   President Trump doesn't care.

Oh, I think there's been some kind of misunderstanding.  I'm not disappointed.  If not for DT what else would we have to argue about right now?  There hasn't been a dodgy truck driver in ages.

No, this is fun.

He was lying about his GD attendance #'s and yep, still bitching about the press while standing in front of a wall that honors 117 dead people who lost their lives in the line of duty. All this after having referred to the CIA as nazi Germany. Of course he should be ashamed.

He started with the press when he stated that the media was putting out the story that there's a feud between him and the CIA!  He may be feuding with someone from the CIA - maybe it was Brennan - but it's not the department itself that he was having some disagreements about!

I don't see what the wall (and its significance) has anything to do with it.  What's shameful would be leaders who'd stood beside that wall, and who wouldn't back the CIA in their missions, and make their job harder for them that they end up getting killed!  Trump referred to that by saying, "I'll back you up!"

I hope Hillary never stood by that wall and made speeches - after she failed those men in Benghazi!  If you want to talk hypocrisy - look to the woman whose Brennan's boss (Obama) had endorsed, and campaigned for!

Simply saying you believe in God is insufficient. Muslims believe in God, too. So do Hindus. That doesn't make them Christian.

Christianity admits all men make mistakes and sin, true. Trump, however, has never admitted his sinfulness and wickedness, nor ever asked for God's help in repenting or for His forgiveness. Christianity does not forgive sinfulness when the sinner shows no repentance nor any inclination to stop his sinful behaviour.

Well, whatever, Argus.

At the end of the day......a man's spirituality would have to be between him and his God.

No, you actually don't. And no, the DNC didn't have anything remotely like these outright, bald-faced lies.

Compulsive Liar

A compulsive liar is defined as someone who lies out of habit. Lying is their normal and reflexive way of responding to questions. Compulsive liars bend the truth about everything, large and small. For a compulsive liar, telling the truth is very awkward and uncomfortable while lying feels right. Compulsive lying is usually thought to develop in early childhood, due to being placed in an environment where lying was necessary. For the most part, compulsive liars are not overly manipulative and cunning (unlike sociopaths), rather they simply lie out of habit—an automatic response which is hard to break and one that takes its toll on a relationship (see how to cope with a compulsive liar).

Bill Clinton?  His Monica Lewinski lies ring any bell?

His wife Hillary?  Democrats went to Sanders because they say she's a liar!  Go ask Susan Sarandon!

Major politicians like Obama don't tell the public blatant lies, and if they did they would certainly not be dumb enough to tell them about something which can so easily be shown to be a lie. The old canard that politicians are dishonest generally refers to spin, and to presenting things in the best possible light, not bald faced lies.

Bill Clinton lied.  Blatantly.

He even tried to convince people that a blow job is not a sexual act.  And this was after he got caught with his hands in the cookie jar!  How much more blatant can you get?  :D

I saw that!  I, for one, fully embrace this new idea where we can simply create "alternative facts" to support our preferred narrative.

Fact: Sean Spicer came out and flat out lied to the press.

Alternative fact: Sean Spicer came out and presented Alternative Facts!

Fact: Trump's inauguration crowd did not measure up to either of Obama's.

Alternative fact: Trump's inauguration crowd was the biggest ever!

Fact: Today is Sunday and I have to go to work tomorrow.

Alternative fact: Today is Saturday and I get to sleep in tomorrow!

Fact: it's 2 degrees and cloudy.

Alternative fact: It's 29 degrees and sunny!

Fact: ...

Alternative fact: Nobody can turn straw into gold like Kellyanne Conway!

Some conservatives have been complaining that it's sexist that people have been making fun of Kellyanne Conway... but if somebody is going to come out and say stupid crap like trying to rationalize flat out lies as "alternative facts", how can you not laugh at them?

The idea of "alternative facts" is flat out idiocy, and she deserves to be laughed at for saying it.

Hillary created an "alternative fact" when she said the video tape caused the riot that eventually got the Ambassador killed in Benghazi.  We knew later it wasn't so.  There was another fact - the real one.

There's no such thing as "alternative fact".  She lied. Period.

Trying to spin the idiocy that came from Sean Spicer's mouth yesterday as "alternative fact" is laughable and deserves only contempt.

There is - Hillary used one.  Yes, Hillary blatantly lied.  That's why "alternative fact" was in quotes.

Yes!  "Alternative facts" could also be what we know as "spin."  Everybody in politics do their spin.  Trudeau has an "alternative fact" when it was pointed out to him that he broke his own rules when he vacationed at the Aga Khan's island.

It's a bullshit point. Or perhaps we should call it an alternative fact.

No, it's valid.  All politicians lie.  I've just never known one to do so so shamelessly. Almost joyfully, in fact.

Ok, so now that we're at least agreed that Kellyanne is full of it, why are Trump supporters so supportive of his lies when you're so angry about lies that others have told in the past?  I mean, Trump has told at least two big fat lies in just the past two days, and I don't hear any complaint at all from Trump Nation.  Just "Yeah, b-b-b-but Bill lied about getting a hummer from Lewinsky" or "b-b-b-but Hillary lied when she blamed the Benghazi attack on the youtube video."  I mean, it seems that lying is completely ok now.

We have a Press Secretary that came out and flat-out lied his ass off, and the President's "counsellor" is trying to rationalize it as "alternative facts". Is that the new Trump world we live in, where they'll just lie their faces off and rationalize it afterwards? Is that what you're supporting?

The MSM sucks and can expect a very cold shoulder. They are redundant at best and the enemy at worst. Expect all sorts of contempt for everything they've done. Perhaps those who still admire CNN, NBC, ABC, etc can click on a few ads extra times to give them an income.

No, there's a difference between "spin" and flat out false.

Spin: "Yesterday's inaugural crowd was tremendous, and exceeded our expectations, both in terms of the turnout and the incredible enthusiasm! We're tremendously grateful that so many Americans came out to support our new President in spite of the bad weather, and we're proud that so many of you shared such a momentous occasion with President Trump!  We're grateful that the small number of badly behaved protesters were not able to take away from this special event, which was truly a great celebration for all Americans."

Flat out false: "Yesterday's crowd was the largest ever."

OMG are you kidding? He referred to the CIA as Nazi Germany while standing in a rather hallowed spot. I'm pretty sure that pissed off anybody in the department that happened to hear such a vicious comment. And then of course he tries to ignore it by making up lies about how many people attended his parade. How can you possibly justify defending such a sick twit?

And all filled with their own career liars, as well. I'm of the opinion the media as a whole is a VERY sick critter. I'm eyeing the rifle over the fireplace...Old Yeller has been a great pet.

Is this the next Hillary-ite hope and prayer? Perhaps put it into poem form like Ashley Judd.

No just some factual information for ya. But then I reckon you are a DT supporter so just ignore it and make make up something fake to suit yourself.

"Factual" and MSM don't mesh...sorry.

You are the exact type of person they try to appeal to with their lies and it's working perfectly.
